What are Shnoopies?

Friendly alien critters - typically within the size range of medium-to-large dogs - who inhabit a nearby large, nature-laden moon. Their diet consists of the local flora (namely leaves, berries, and flowers), nectar (hence the long tongue), and small insects, all of which have developed over centuries to be able to grow within this moon's unique habitable atmosphere. Their naturally placid and friendly dispositions have made them easy for scientists to study and, since they possess the capability to adjust to different atmospheric climates, they have become pets both at the moon's research station and back on Earth. Some of their unique physical traits include; 'low-hanging' thighs coupled with shorter lower legs, thick fur, three toes with star-shaped paw pads, fluffy antennae that emit a soft glow (thought to act as a sort of in-built 'night-light', and very soft, velvety noses. All in all, they're easily summed up by the phrase, 'they're just a bunch of funky little guys.'

How can I adopt a Shnoopie?

Shnoopie's available for adoption can either be won via raffle, or through a purchase (c$ or usd). There most likely won't be many in-depth competitions (in regards to forms/character development/etc) because I want this species to be super accessible, and I'm aware that some people like to collect characters just for the sake of drawing them, rather than fully fleshing out their personalities and backstories. If you want to develop them as characters, that's up to you! But if you'd rather adopt them for the sake of having a cutesy, comforting design to draw every now and then, that's also fine.

What are the rules around here?

As much as the plan is for Shnoopie's to be a pretty relaxed species, there are - of course - some ground rules.

- No whining/begging/complaining about not winning/being able to purchase a Shnoopie
- Absolutely no bullying or harassing other players; there's no 'three strike' rule to fall back on, you'll be banned from the species. This is supposed to be a safe space, so let's try and keep it that way, yeah?
- If you are banned from the species, you may no longer own any Shnoopie's. You have two options; you either transfer the designs off-species (while still giving appropriate credit for the lines/design), or you relinquish ownership and allow them to be readopted to other members within the community. You will not be reimbursed for any Shnoopie's you have purchased
- You do not have to follow the lore. You want to keep them as cute, sapient little creatures? Absolutely fine. You want to put them into a modern AU? Go for it. You want to create a whole separate fantasy AU and create a whole kingdom situation with them? Sounds awesome, let that creativity flow, dude
- No mini-modding, please; if you've got a question, just leave a comment and I'll answer as soon as I'm able to!
- At the moment, trading/selling/gifting Shnoopies is not allowed

The Rarity System

Shnoopies only have three levels of rarity - standard, uncommon, and rare. Instead of only corresponding directly with specific traits, rarities are also tiered in regards to how many varied traits (edits) a Shnoopie has. For example, a rare Shnoopie can only have up to five edits, which includes traits from all tiers; you may pick and choose as you please, as long as you're within the number limit.

Standard = no edits

Uncommon = up to three edits
fur length (cannot be furless), ears, tail, antennae shape

Rare = maximum of five edits
small horns (up to three, only on the head), multiple tails (max three), extra limbs (max six), extra ears (max two sets)

Shnoopie's must have antennae + glow. Their muzzles, paw pad shape, paw size, and body lengths cannot be altered.
