so! as the title says. this would be bella sara inspired, which was a horsey trading card game from 2005-2010 when i was a kid. they also had an online, browser based game that i could not stop playing. rip bella sara.
each adopt would be:
- custom lined / custom art
- include an inspiring/positive message
- title of the winner/owner's herd (ex. Patron Deity of Herd Sacred Waters)
- and the standard "play online" that all bella sara cards had, with a spot for artist and owner credits as well.
Text on the bottom will be fully cleaned up, this is just an overall concept.
ARPG itself would soft launch with a few features coming online as staff get hired etc!
I'd likely start with founders, co op archive or make your own archive (whatever works, both being options) and exploring to start, with breeding, combat, and story based events and holiday events coming as myself and the team have the spoons for them.
Additionally, the original TCG came with codes you could use online! Each posted adopt has a chance to include a "game code" of which the mechanic is still in progress, but ideas include:
- The adopt automatically comes with a few extra prizes, rolled off a table after the winner is announced, ie currency, explore items, etc
- or users can collect the game codes to put towards a part of the shop that gives better prizes off a different table (myo tickets, currency, maybe the rare mystery card ((another adopt!)))
- OR!! The user can pick one or the other, depending on what they'd like!
as for genetics, i dont really care about genes by any means, and they wouldn't really play a key role in how the adopts will look - i want to see creativity and positivity shine through this arpg so i say who cares! the adopts still have to be equine in nature but can have whatever patterns, shapes, sizes, edits they want!
so that likely means not a huge rarity system, if any. We're just here to have fun and play, write, draw, silly horsies with wings and horns!
Staff pay would partly depend on positions, but would also be rewarded with rarer items due to the work everyone would be putting in! Artists would get rare items, substantial in game currency, and as im able to, bi weekly tips as a token of appreciation. same with writers, as that's a lot of creative work! overall, i'd basically try and toe the line of overcompensation bc it's not easy to run an arpg!!
a good chunk of titles would be pre-written for the sake of keeping most things uniform, outside of the quotes on each adopts "trading card". Same with artist credits underneath the quote.
That said, id love ideas for ranks / titles to go in the title line so artists can choose based on level of the horse and what the winner decides
For example, title selections for horses that are lvl 1 could be:
- Peasant
- Page
Lvl 2:
- Commoner
- Squire
Etc, climbing societal ranks of a chosen "class", such as a regular citizen, knight, wizard, etc!
These classes will effect how exploring, combat etc works for that unique horse and would be fun to work in.
This will be edited into the front post once im home from work but id love some class and rank ideas!
Anyway, please post if this is something that interests you! I'd love to also hear any other ideas you have for core features in the arpg, considering rarities and traits aren't really going to be it!

small announcement that I am going to try and get things set up with a soft opening deadline of sometime early to mid may, given my schedule. I work close to full time and might be getting a new job soon, so that's cool!
Starting out, all things will be in an alpha testing stage, meaning that the way exploring, combat, etc works will be subject to changes such as balancing and such as needed. The game will likely open with founders, a class system with 3-5 classes available, up to 10 levels (? maybe more), exploring and dungeoning/combat. Then as we move into "beta" phase, that's when things like breedings and other arpg aspects will come into play.
That being said, I will also be opening up staff apps before that opening as I reasonably can't do this by myself, with them being open now and indefinitely open until soft launch in a month or so.
I am looking for:
- Artists
- Writers
- Rolling Staff
- Moderators
To apply, please just send me a PM with your experience and what position(s) you'd be interested in! If applying for an artist spot, please include overall art examples and if you have some, some horse art examples.
I'll reach out if I'm interested and/or if i have any other questions for you.
That's all for now !
