The area is pockmarked with signs of the demon's presence, including smoldering patches of ground and pools of dense and almost solidified lava that can sometimes be confused with solid ground, being more treacherous than quicksand. Plants and trees grow here in twisted and gnarled forms, leafless and with their bark scorched. Everything covered in a cloud of fine ashes, no longer burning after so long after the last great eruption of the volcano.
The lair of Yruene is a dark and menacing cave, hidden deep within the mountain in the middle of this treacherous land. The air is filled with the sulphurous fumes emitted by the lava pools that dot the cave floor, casting an eerie red glow upon the walls and ceiling. Deep shadows lurk in the corners, hiding the true extent of the cavern and making it difficult to tell where the lair ends and the darkness begins.
