Welcome to Call of The Night, a Warrior cat inspired ARPG where danger and mystery lurk in the shadows. the question hung in the air, as though the very moon above awaited your answer, its light bending down to anoint the path ahead.

Hello moonlings, and happy March! I am pleased to bring you our next mid-month announcement.
We have quite a few things to update you all on, so please take a seat!

First of all, the whole team wants to thank everyone for their responses to the survey we sent out last month. For the most part, you all had some genuinely enlightening and very interesting suggestions for how to improve COTN, and we're all so grateful for your input! Your comments and concerns have been synthesized into a sort of roadmap document, and many of them will be put into practice in the coming weeks and months! We will likely make this public as well, eventually, so you all can see what's coming next.
For example, we've already begun working on a renovation to our nursery & prompts system (courtesy of our writers Canis and Comfypxl), as well as re-organizing the discord and improving community engagement. A lot is still going on behind the scenes, so be prepared for future development and construction.

Next I wanted to address staff transparency and punctuality, because this was a common concern. We will all be making an active effort to be more accountable and present in our community going forward!
COTN's other owner, Beeqlass, will be taking a break for a while due to circumstances beyond their control, in order to take care of themself. But in their absence, I will be taking over most executive function and the brunt of leadership work.
As for other staff updates, our GA SkyWishes21 has been promoted to a full nursery artist! You may see them around creating litters from time to time. And we are equally excited to announce that we have a new archivist, JolleeFroot! They will be helping us stay on track and keeping things flowing smoothly behind the scenes.


And finally, mods have discussed and decided that we are temporarily going to be closing founder forms. This is in effort not to overwhelm our current artists, who are focusing on event work and clearing backlog at the moment.
Don't worry, anyone who has already submitted a founder form will have theirs claimed and completed! But the thread is closed for any new forms, until our artists' queue is clear and/or we have a larger team again!

Please note, you do NOT need a founder to participate in COTN. Founders are meant to just be a free cat that you get, regardless of what rank they actually take in your clan/lore.
Please still feel free to try out for adopts and create MYOs, and if you want to help us bolster our ranks, put in an entry at the staff search! We are always looking for new staff of all kinds, and there will be lots of opportunity for you to help our team in the future!

☪ You may use your cats outside of COTN- but you may not use the official artwork unless for storage reasons.
☪ Your kitties thrive on your creativity! Please do not use any plagiarism, art theft or artificial intelligence (AI) to create for you. It is unfair to those who put in the effort.
☪ If you see something, say something! Any form of harassment or bullying is not tolerable. If someone is giving you a hard time, please let a CS or COTN staff member know; we are here to help you!

STARTING YOUR CLAN

☪ Everyone gets one free founder! These are artist-claimed semi-customs! A founder may only have up to three common edits, and unlimited NR.
☪ Once you rehome, sell or trade your founder, you will not be entitled to a new one!

MYOs

☪ You cannot add edits to a cat unless if you have the corresponding edit or MYO. You may add NR edits as you wish! Scars are recommended to be added via in-game mechanics such as __!
☪ All coats and edits need to be realistic.

NURSERY

☪ Cats of any gender may partner together!
☪ Only adult cats may be paired together. Cats that are related cannot be paired.
☪ There is a cooldown of ___ days before a cat can be paired again! This cooldown can be bypassed
with a (insert potential item here)

TRADING

☪ You must own a cat for a minimum of 2 weeks before trading/selling them.
☪ Any trades, sales or gifts must be properly posted on the archive update thread.

ARTISTS

☪ Guest Artists (GAs) may make founders, adopts, nursery batches and one paid custom batch!
☪ Artists will receive an Uncommon myo upon hire, future rewards will be based off of activity! Artists may make founders, adopts, nursery batches and paid customs!
☪ Artists can open 5x paid customs up to 2 times a month, resulting in a total of 10 paid customs a month!
☪ Artists may only receive payment for customs in CS pets, C$ or COTN items/Fireflies.
☪ Customs must be completed within one month of the accepted date.
☪ Adopts must be judged within one month of closing, with the exception of extensions.
☪ All nursery batches must be done for free.
☪ All adopts should be created on the official lines short of exceptions such as milestones.

☪ Do my cats have to have warrior names?
Not at all! They can be tribe names, warrior names, or a custom naming system!


☪ Does my clan have to work the same as clans in the books?
Your clan can function however you like - fantasy clans, clans inspired by the books, different themes, time periods, custom ranks, we allow full creativity!


☪ Can I have NPCs in my clan?
You may use NPC cats - official COTN ones or not - to help develop your clan. These cats cannot be recognized as official COTN cats, though, so they cannot be a focus within explore!


☪ Does my tortie need to be female?
We do not like AGABs, so torties can be male, gingers can be female, etc. This does not effect breeding purposes!


☪ Can homosexual cats have kits together?
Yes! As we do not keep track of AGABs, any gender may breed and produce bundles of joy!


☪ How do I know when I've leveled up?
This will be noted in explore responses, and in our archive documents!


☪ Do founders/breedings/MYOs cost anything?
Founders + breedings are always free, along with all adopts. MYOs can be bought for fireflies or c$, and may be designed by yourself or someone else!


☪ Can I give my cat accessories?
Yes - they may have any accessories and companions you wish! Please note, you'll have to add them yourself, or commission an artist to do so!


☪ How many clans can I own?
In COTNs explore system, you can use up to two in our mechanics. Lore wise though, you may have as many as you wish, as long as you keep to two for explore purposes!
