Thistlehooves (singular thistlehoof.) is a welcoming community of those who like cute cow adoptables. I recommend reading the species guide for information on how to set up your barn, and create your own tartan! Thistlehooves with a bell collar have been adopted. If you would like to reach out to staff for help, you can message mods either here or in our discord ❤

Those who join the discord will have access to some exclusive adopts and giveaways. The discord also provides pings for announcements and adopt posts.

1. I obviously don't own cows. Thistlehooves is a closed species however please feel free to make your own cow ocs. Just don't trace/use the lineart without permission and don't take the name for your own cow species.
   
   
2. Please be respectful and avoid drama within the species. Anyone causing drama or upsetting others will be given a warning or ban depending on severity of the actions and moderator discretion.
   
   
3. You cannot make your own Thistlehoof without an appropriate MYO ticket. You can make your own characters for lore reasons, they just can't be used in species activities like the nursery!
   
   
4. Thistlehooves cannot be co-owned. Any people caught doing so will be given warnings and full ownership will be awarded to whoever is listed in the archive.
   
   
5. Thistlehooves cannot be sold for more than they were bought for + their art worth. If you won your Thistlehoof for free, you can only trade or gift it until you gain extra art that was paid for with either virtual or real currency. Character flippers will be given a strike.
   
   
6. Please already have a barn and tartan made before applying for an adopt, or be prepared to create them immediately after winning/purchasing. A barn and tartan are required to own a Thistlehoof.
   
   
7. Breeding slots remain used when trading, gifting or selling your Thistlehoof to another user.
   
   
8. Thistlehooves of any gender can breed together. Related Thistlehooves cannot breed.
   
   
9. You must post on the trade archive thread when selling/trading/gifting your Thistlehoof or thistlehoof items to another user. Both the old and new owner must post the correct form on the thread.
   
   
10. Please tell an archivist if you transfer your barn to another site/thread.
    
    
11. Thistlehooves belonging to banned members may be kept, but may not be sold/traded. If you no longer want your Thistlehoof you must return them to the species to be put up for official re-adoption, or gift them to someone else within the species. If you want to trade away your Thistlehoof after being banned, you will need to transfer them out of the species and you cannot advertise them as a Thistlehoof.
    
    
12. You cannot change the designs of Thistlehooves you got through adopts, however MYOs have special design revamp permissions. See the species guide FAQ for more info.
    
    
13. Thistlehooves can be transferred out of species with the original designers permission. You must contact liiontai to organise a transfer out of species. Once transferred out, the design can only become a Thistlehoof again with the use of a MYO.
    
    
14. These rules are subject to change and be edited. Major changes will be announced on the discord and main thread.

Welcome to Thistlehooves v2! It has been a long time coming, but I've missed my cows and need a side project to dedicate myself to. For all returning members, welcome back! For all new members, welcome to the community c:

All items, Thistlehooves, barns, tartans etc will be retained from V1!
If you need your username updated in the archive please DM me and I'll do my best to get everything updated. I will also be starting an ongoing project to add images of everyones tartans next to their barns in the archive, to make it easier for others to make distinct tartans that don't replicate others too closely. Patience will be appreciated as I am currently the only archivist.

Transfers
Transfers will be available on the transfers + growths thread for anyone who wants to move their Thistlehooves to the new lines. Please note transfers will NOT be required for your Thistlehooves to breed/trade etc in V2. Transfers are completely optional c:

Staff
As Thistlehooves has been on hiatus for an extended period, I have reset the staff. Old staff who wish to return to their old roles may DM me! I'd be happy to see some old faces. This also means I'm open to hiring new mods, archivists and artists to help run the species! Information for these roles will likely be posted on the main species thread later.

Owed Work
I'm aware some tartans haven't been added to V1 adopts. If you own one of these Thistlehooves please contact me and I'll do my best to contact artists/mods and update these myself.
