Perrites, also known as Petite Cloven Fowl, are a diminutive and highly social bird-like equine native to the deep jungles of Southeast Asia. Standing around five to seven hands at the shoulder, they are just barely the size of an average domestic chicken. They are often kept in large flocks as guard animals to other livestock due to their protective nature and loud warning calls. Coming in a wide variety of colorful coat variations they are also kept as flashy indoor exotic pets by some, though they can be demanding by nature and difficult to train. However you aim to keep them, as long as they have a flock to socialize with and are given plenty of room to roam, perrites can be very loyal animals toward humans and quite fulfilling to care for.

Adopt Rules
- Perrites are a closed species; you may not make your own customs or breedings for any reason
- There is no limit to how many you may adopt nor any cooldowns
- Perrites have no breeding slot limits or breeding cooldowns
- Sex cannot be visually changed (ie horns/antlers on bucks), however you're welcome to give them different pronouns
- Line edits and item additions are allowed by artists; but adopters may not alter their perrites themselves nor ask for edits
- A storage page is required to be able to breed, create customs, or enter shows, but not for regular adopt comps (storage example)
- Users may not sell their perrites for more than they spent on them, and the currency must stay the same (bought for C$, sell for C$, ect)
- To sell/gift/trade just notify the current active archivist and inform them of the transfer, then post with a link to the new owner on the perrite's adoption page to notify the artist

Species Notes
- Native to Asia, like their very distant avian cousins the red jungle fowl
- Often described as canine or fox-like in their behaviors during play and socialization
- First imported to Mexico and sold widespread as exotic pets leading to their odd mis-communicated name
- Very smol, like 5 to 7 hands SMOL, with min being 4.3 and max being 7.3
- Bucks have horns/antlers/etc of some sort, which can be anything from rams horns, unicorn horns, rhino horns, goat horns, elk or deer antlers, bull horns, or really anything one can think of!
- Bucks can have unnatural coats themed after any kind of bird, or regular horse designs
- They can also have a combo of bird & horse markings mixed together
- There are a variety of unique traits that can add unnatural effects as well
- Hens have no horns/antlers/ect
- Hens can only show horse based coats, no bird coats
- There are a few main tail types, including peacock (most common) as well as rooster and racket
- Feathering can be any color/pattern, usually themed after birds, but it can be anything
- Head crest feathers are always a separate solid or slightly two-toned color from the mane/tail feathers
- Newborn foals are mainly insectivores, but they eat more vegetation-based diets as adults
- Favorite foods include a variety of algae, soft grasses, tree bark, and their most beloved - mushrooms!
- Curly down feather texture base fur
- Curled marwari ears, though their hearing is a bit poor
- Cloven hooves that need regular trimming if not exposed to rocky surfaces
- They make chicken noises, bucks can crow like roosters
- Live in large flocks and are super social (better adopt a lot of them)
- Mountain-goat-like agility, defying the laws of physics always, often finding themselves sleeping perched on roofs or tree branches

Artist Rules
- Artists may come and go as they please, there is no activity rules/limits
- There is no max price you may charge for an adopt or custom, all currencies are permitted
- May make one personal custom a month
- May do your own breedings as often as you please within reason
- Can do line edits or add items as you please as long as they follow the main rules;
- No massively changing the species (ie no weird mutations/wings/other species body parts/removing fur-feathers/etc)
- No saddles or other riding specific tack (they're the size of chickens, who would that be for? lol) or robotic parts/things that mimic the body edit no-nos such as wings or extra limbs
- Yes to (but not limited to) roman or dished noses, extra foot feathering, new tails (must be avian themed but can be anything bird-like!), edited (but not full removal of) crest feathers, edited ears (within the equine/bovine/cervidae/etc category only), changing mane feathers to hair/long manes, beards, extra fluffs, feathering in extra places like on elbows/spines/cheeks/etc, changing eye shape/pupils, adding whiskers, adding extra or custom lined horns/antlers (bucks only as always), or adjusting body shape/weight such as mini pony stature etc
- Remove background/foreground once adopted to provide transparent images (you may make a color-in version with the background still on if you like, especially for those with the 'Glassy' gene)
- Unique traits should be kept relatively rarer than the average natural coat
- Adopts and imports may not contain more than two unique traits; breedings can contain any number
- Must follow species guidelines closely; if unsure, just ask!
- For filling out the sections;
Coat Type = Equine, Avian, Hybrid (if a combination of both), and if the coat includes any of the unique marking it should include 'Unique' in front (ie 'Unique Avian', 'Unique Hybrid', etc)
Coat Color = The color/marking names (this should be as realistic as possible) ie 'Black Overo', 'Blue Budgie Tobiano', 'African Grey', ect
Horn Type = Whichever horn lineart is chosen. If it's custom lined, name it whatever the horns are inspired by. If a hen, list it as 'None'
Eye Color = Enter whatever fun color name you would like! This can be anything from simple one word answers like 'red' to entire quotes/lyrics/nonsense words. No limitations! Heterochromia of all sorts is also totally allowed.
Tail Type = Whichever tail lineart is chosen. If custom lined, name it whatever species the tail is inspired by.

Breeding Rules
- Must have an updated storage page ie an Aviary of some sort in order to request a breeding (to track offspring)
- Only buck x hen breedings are allowed naturally, unless a rainbow ticket is used
- No cooldowns or slot limits for any perrites
- Will only produce one offspring per breeding, no twins (unless the stud has won the twin bonus trait via shows)
- Inbreeding parents to offspring or full sibling to full sibling is not allowed; further relatives do not matter
- Line edits pass at artist discretion only and are not guaranteed, you may not request edits to be passed nor any markings/colors
- Gender and height are randomly rolled by the breeding artist; there is a 25% chance of rolling buck, and a 75% chance of rolling hen
- Feather coloration will be a mix of both parents in some way
- Base coat will often be slightly randomized, often adding new markings or variation through the lineage (ex; a solid coat x solid coat may produce a tobi baby at random, things of that nature)
- Horn types on bucks will be directly inherited from the sire, this will not change unless a keratin ticket is used
- Unique traits have a 25% chance of passing onto offspring; if both parents have the same trait, it is still only a 25% chance roll
- To use gifted/traded slots, include a screenshot of the owner of the perrite granting you permission (quotes will not count)
- Do not PM artists about slots! Artists will post here with a form to fill out when they have decided to open some breeding slots. Never pester or ask artists to open slots just for you.
