Arkylian House Foxes are a breed of domesticated foxes that sprung up after a particularly hard set of seasons drove the number of Red Foxes in Arkylia's wilder corners dangerously low, sparking a conservation operation, part of which included breeding for a domestic variation, in case the ecosystem would no longer support the foxes. Several generations have passed since that event, and despite the Red Fox making a bouncing comeback, their domesticated variation- House Foxes- have stuck around, becoming quite popular companions, which in turn has nearly eradicated the risk of wild foxes being caught and sold as pets.
House Foxes can be differentiated from their wild cousins by their size and the wide array of colors and patterns they come in! House Foxes are a fair margin smaller than wild Red Foxes, and, due to some genetic splicing early on to preserve genetic diversity as well as encourage domestic behavior, bear a wide array of color patterns, some resembling dogs, some resembling cats, and some colors even looking akin to those found in rats or mice.
