Hello and welcome to the Fumi Shrine! This thread serves several purposes; it's an ongoing development raffle, where every few weeks a new prompt will be put up for art & writing, and all sorts of prizes will be available. It also houses the two Fumi deities of rain and sun, who have their own quest prompts which can earn your Fumi prizes and edits all the way up to fabled level!

【how to enter】

❀Depending on the week, requirements for the main page raffle will vary.
❀There will always be both writing and art options.
❀If you do not own a fumi, you may either use someone else's with permission, or create a personality for the unedited fumi on the main page cover.
❀You may make as many entries to one prompt as you want, but only one per fumi will be counted. You are free to do both the art and writing for one fumi, but that will also only count as one. You can enter as many different fumis as you want, as each separate entry will be counted.
❀ Only one prize per person per week.
❀ Time for entries may vary (ie one week, two weeks, three weeks) but all will give at least one week of time.
❀ Honorable mentions may be given for high-effort non winners, and can be used just like those in normal adopt competitions.

alyssa adores the morning glories that crown the top of her head. she considers them her favorite feature about herself with the way they contrast her pink coat and accentuate her eyes. she is very particular about her diet, ensuring not to consume anything that would disrupt the natural balance of her plants.

however, she hadn't always loved this striking feature about herself. when she was younger and more reckless, she hardly put any effort into maintaining her appearance. while her grandmother would chide her for not "acting in a way befitting a lady," young alyssa would brush off her critisicms and continue to play outdoors with the other neighborhood kids. alyssa couldn't be bothered to put on shoes when going outside, much less properly trim and maintain her plants. the droopy morning glories would always hang in front of her eyes and catch on branches as she squeezed through the narrow opening of the neighborhood tree fort built by her uncle. she quickly grew annoyed with the useless plants, wishing hers grew from her back or tail like many of her brothers.

her reckless behavior would continue to cause more and more of the delicate morning glories to fall off until eventually, she had nothing more than a few leaves left growing out of her head. her grandmother was distraught to see her in such disarray and neighborhood kids teased her, calling her "sprout head." frustrated, alyssa looked in the mirror, pawing the few remaining stems, and vowed to grow the most beautiful plants in her family.

over the next few months, she perfected her method to managing her plants. rather than allow them to messily hang over her eyes, she cropped them close to her ears in a neat wreath. she finally asked her uncle to repair the opening of the treehouse so that she would no longer have to hit her plants against the sunken doorframe. her hard work paid off, and she soon had a headful of beautiful blue morning glories. as she grew older, she gradually became less reckless and no longer had to worry about branch scrapes and rolling onto her plants. however, she is still grateful that her rowdy childhood gave her the motivation to begin caring for her plants more carefully.

(the thing they enjoy most in the world is seeing their plants catch flies. they watch them like a proud parent & name them like pets rather than seeing them as an extension of themselves. if i hc'd them in a modern timeline they'd 100% have social media dedicated to their flytraps / competitions of which one can catch the most.)

Sometimes they find their plants a bit inconvenient, especially when it comes to their wardrobe. The cotton that grows on their back often fights them when it comes to clothes, and if they could, they'd probably move their plants to somewhere a bit more manageable, like their forearms.

Prompt:

Neiđ-Ka has always marveled at everyone else's magnificent plants. Beautiful colors and vibrant blooms, interest shapes and amazing growths. By comparison, their moss has seemed underwhelming. When they were younger, their tiger mother would tug on them and groom their moss covered forelimbs in an attempt to keep them clean. She didn't understand of course - tigers do not have plants. Other fumis seem almost disappointed by the moss - such a fierce looking person just has dinky little moss? For years, Neiđ-Ka has looked at their moss and almost sought to hide them. The rest of their appearance is nothing they can do anything about - but the moss is subtle enough that it was easy enough to hide. But after an interest in the prehistory of earth took grip one weekend, they learned that one of the first organisms to colonize the once dead land was moss. One of the oldest versions of life out of water, was moss. And that this tough little plant reflected ancient life, just as they looked almost prehistoric. They stopped hiding their little plants, and every now and then just sit and look at them, stroking the odd texture moss holds and just feeling warm.

Prompt: Much like her plants, Izel is a prickly personality. She feels both love and hate for her little prickly pears, since on one hand they look like her mother's plants and she loves her mother. On the other hand... it is very difficult to play with other kids without hurting them. If she rough-houses then she might come out of it with a couple bruises, but the other kids get tons of pricks and then don't want to play anymore!! It wasn't her fault they all had dinky plants! Hers were strong! She could fight bear in forest!... okay maybe not. Izel didn't have her sibling and dama's cool teeth to scare off bears. But she did have her prickly pears, which she loved and disliked in (almost) equal measure.

Nizzy loves their one single bat plant, and usually when going out and enjoying new foods, they often ask him his opinion. Even though Nizzy doesn't get a response (obviously lol) sometimes they make one up. In public, it's hard to tell whether it looks adorable or absolutely mad lol

Prompt:

Illyria enjoys watching her orchids grow and bloom, and she is always excited when a new bud appears. She hopes when she is older to have hair full of blossoms, despite the troubles they give her. While the orchids that adorn her hair and tail are lovely, they are very fickle. On days where Illyria hasn't had quite enough to eat or drink, or maybe has had too much sun, the leaves and petals will begin to wrinkle and discolor. Despite this, they never fall until it is time for a fresh bloom to grow. Illyria is very fond of spreading her orchids across the wilds they used to inhabit on Earth. She has watched many times as backpackers and the like marvel at the flowers.

Valentina loves her plants dearly. She enjoys dressing up and fashion as self expression so she likes to have her bougainvillea bush tie into that. Because they are on her back they can be a bit difficult to maintain and some outfits are a little difficult but nonetheless she enjoys them because they are unique to her. They always had a little something to an outfit and she loves how they interact with the world around her. The only problem is that they can be a but thorny so if other fumi's aren't careful they can get a bit of a scratch. Despite this Valentina still loves her flowers since they are unique to her and fit with he personality nicely! [121]

Lavender isn't the most striking of Fumi, but something that Lavender always loved is how unusual her plants are. Every Fumi's plants are unique to them, but pale blue leaves is not something you normally see. Lavender doesn't mind that she's visually simple, she's happy and content with herself and her plants stand out even more because of it. It catches the eye, and so she always makes sure the leaves are clean and shining. Some have wondered just what kind of plant her unusual leaves are, she doesn't really know what to tell them, and in the end it doesn't really matter. They're hers, and she wouldn't change them for anything!
