Welcome to Nightbound Dragons!
Nightbound Dragons (also called NBDs) are large dragons native to space. The common Nightbound Dragon has a large, yet slim body. They average from 10 feet to 20 feet tall (~3-6 meters), and often eat half their body weight in meat (~200 lbs). NBDs have a long tail, neck, body, and legs. They have 2 pairs of wings. The pair on their backs are huge, and are used for flight. The pair near the front of the body act as an extra pair of arms, and are only used to change directions when flying. NBDs have a fire on their tail that is used as a form of communication. NBDs live in a hierarchy, and the larger the flame is, the higher status you have.
Nightbound Dragons live on celestial bodies, such as comets and stars. They live in "legions", amounting to a maximum of 100 NBDs per legion. These legions are very territorial, and will fight over land constantly. Every year, at about winter time, hundreds of NBD legions flock to Earth for mating season. During this mating season, it is common for an NBD to befriend a human, and leave their legion to live with it. Domestic NBDs can be ridden, and are loyal to their owners like they once were to their legion.
Nightbound Dragons are unpredictable when it comes to mating. Some mate for life, others do not. Many NBDs who have children are good parents. Most NBDs have 1-4 eggs at a time, and take care of the hatchlings until adulthood.
Mutations in NBDs are common, as they must adapt to the current environment they are in. Who knows what kinds of traits you may see in an NBD.
