All rules below are how the nursery works and how nursery items work, as well as any pets that are not applicable to the form and why. This applies for Staff members and Community members! They will not result in a ban however you may be publicly corrected if the form is done incorrectly. SFA rules and CS rules still apply- see main page rules here.

NURSERY GUIDE -

❥ Users do not currently have a cooldown, however the dam/sire used do after the litter has been posted. Do not abuse this rule.
❥ Pets outside of SFA cannot be used as the dam/sire or donor for your form/litter.

♡ Exception to this is if you have a custom donor/surrogate item from the shop where you can customize the donor/surrogate you want with some exception. See the Nursery Item section to see how to use that item.
❥ The requested litter must be of one of the owner's parents (if not the owner of both or the owner of the only SFA pet in the litter).
❥ Complaining, harassing, ect. other users over forms is not acceptable and you will be given a warning for doing so.
❥ Mini-Modding for this thread is also not acceptable.
❥ Do not spam forms here or post when no artist has expressed being open to litters.
❥ Pets that are not dogs/cats cannot be bred here unless otherwise stated.
❥ Incest of any kind is not allowed on CS and as such is not allowed in SFA. You will be given a warning and reported if it is found that you have requested a form along the lines of such things, and it will be denied outright.

♡ Same goes for anything along the lines of a forced/non consensual relationship/pairing if it is believed to be so.

LITTER GUIDE -

❥ Litters cannot be a nursery donor-surrogate pair, a custom donor-surrogate pair, requested by a user without pets (or simply not using their pets at all) and instead using another user's pets with or without permission, or 2 non SFA pets.
❥ Without the item for same-sex litters, all litters are required to have a biological sire (male) and biological dam (female).
❥ Litters will always be free but will also always have a requirement for forms.

♡ Requirements for such are listed on the Form Guide post.
❥ Without a nursery item all litters will be randomly generated or percentile generated anywhere from 1-4 offspring in total.
❥ You can request a specific form from any open artist if it has not already been accepted, even with the same requirements used as long as it has not been used previously.
❥ Litters can be OOC (out of character/out of canon) or IC (in character/in canon) and it is up to you how you want to interpret it.
❥ The offspring will always have the listed parents/family members in their lineage even if you separate them from that family in story completely.
❥ Trading cooldown applies after the litter pet/s have a home (individually). Cannot be traded, only gifted or adopted out. See Archives Thread for the Ownership rules involving trading.

MUTATION GUIDE -

❥ When putting no for rolling mutations or disabilities you rely only on the mutations/disabilities presented by the parents.

♡ Exception is to disabilities caused by coats or the mutations rolled successfully.
❥ Mutations and Disabilities seen in the parents have anywhere from 25-100% chance of appearing if unrelated to coat.

♡ If both parents have the same mutation, the chance of that mutation happening in 1-4(6 with items) offspring is 75-100%. This is the only time a whole litter can receive a mutation.
❥ When rolling for mutations not seen in the parents, the percentages listed on the key will be implemented.

♡ Any without percentages must either be bred directly from the parents or is coat based.
❥ Only up to 2 rolled mutations/disabilities can appear (outside of any coat/eye related) on an offspring, with max of 2 offsprings having the mutations/disabilities. Includes any mutations from the parents.
❥ The following mutations and coats cannot be bred with eachother or bred with others-

♡ Any Merle + Other Merle (unless one is Mᶜm and the other is any non double merle, recessive non merle) [Dogs]
♡ Folded Ear + Folded Ear [Cats]
♡ Biologically Male Calico/Tortoiseshell/Caliby/Torbie [Klinefelter Mosaic Male] + Any Cat
♡ Finnish Mutation + Any Cat
♡ Short Spine Syndrome + Any Dog
♡ Manx + Manx [Cats]
♡ Dwarfism + Dwarfism [Cats]

NURSERY ITEM GUIDE -

❥Any items on the shop for the nursery can be used at one time however all used in the form, if the form is accepted, are immediately removed as soon as the litter is completed.
❥ Items must be purchased or given to the user in the SFA Token Shop before use.
❥ All items can be found in the SFA Token Shop.

♥ Same-Sex Litter -

♡ Can only be used if both parents are the same sex.
♡ Applicable to existing SFA pets, Nursery Donors/Surrogates, and Custom Donors/Surrogates.
♥ Higher Mutation/Disability Chance -

♡ Not guaranteed. Will be used even if no mutations appear.
♡ 5-20 % higher chance. (Percentage will be rolled for)
♡ Only applies to Mutations/Disabilities not seen on the listed parents.
♥ Higher Litter Number Chance -

♡ Not guaranteed. Will be used even if litter is not 3-4 rolled.
♡ Around 20 % higher chance for 3-4 litter.
♡ 2 offspring minimum still applies when 2 users are involved.
♡ Can be combined with Guaranteed +2 items to be 4-6 rolled.
♥ Custom Coats of Litter -

♡ Must be available based on parent's phenotypes.
♡ Does not include mutations, disabilities, or eyecolor.
♡ Must be realistic.
♡ Artist doing the litter will provide available coats.
♥ Guaranteed 1-4 Litter -

♡ Artist may refuse if they believe they are not able to do the requested number.
♡ If asking for any number between 1-4 after talking with the artist for a compromise, the item will still be used.
♡ If the user chooses instead to let the artist choose the number after talking with them, the item will not be used.
♡ It is recommended that if there is 2 users that the requesting user asks for 2-4.
♡ Can be combined with the Guaranteed +2 item to ask for 1-6 in a litter.
♥ Guaranteed +2 to Litter -

♡ The litter will still be rolled by the artist, but a +2 offspring is added to the litter.
♡ This guarantees at least 3 offspring when used and at most can roll 6 offspring when used.
♡ Only one of this item can be added to a single litter.
♥Custom Donor/Surrogate -

♡ This is not a custom and will not be counted as an official SFA pet.
♡ Any purebred, mixed breed, or pet of unclear breed is available.
♡ Chimera, Klinefelter Mosaic Male/Biologically Male Calico/Tortoiseshell/Caliby/Torbie, Finnish Mutation, and Short Spine Syndrome pets are not available to be requested.
♡ Any pet over 25% wild mix is not available to be requested.
♡ Coat specific to a sex (Tortoiseshell, Calico, Caliby, and Torbie for example) need to biologically be that sex.
♡ You can use the created Donor/Surrogate as many times as you like but the item itself is one time use only.
♡ Regardless of wanted coat, if a coat given does not meet breed standard (purebred only), does not seem plausible for the mix (specified 2-4 pet mix), or is unnatural/genetically impossible (any), the requested donor/surrogate may either be denied or requested to change. If unsure about coat and/or needing help creating the coat, please ask the owner or an artist for assistance in private messaging.
♡ Options for making your donor/surrogate-
❥ Providing one or multiple images for a purebred pet. Keep in mind not all markings and colors are available together. Needs to be possible with breed standard.
❥ Providing one or multiple images for a mixed pet. How this works is you provide a base, markings, eyecolor, ect. using different images. This works well with mutts but you may need to be more restricted if you're combining 2-4 specific breeds together as they have common markings/colors and breed standards.
❥ Providing an image of a pre-existing character not in SFA for the artist to make realistic on description alone. Depending on the character 1 or multiple options of the coat description may apply. Characters with neon colors, clearly unnatural or no corresponding real colors, and/or markings with no corresponding real markings or that are too intricate to define maybe either denied or simplified/changed to the point it would not be that character. They will count as a mutt/unspecified mix (domestic short/mid/longhair if a cat) unless a real breed is specified.
♡ When listing the donor/surrogate on the lineage, they will be listed as 'Custom Donor/Surrogate'.

STAFF GUIDE -

❥ All artist positions can open and accept up to 3 litters at a time at any time.
❥ Staff will only be open to forms when asking on the page publicly.
❥ Staff may choose to openly say how many pets are in a litter if they wish but it is not required.
❥ Even if an item is used to make a litter a specific number or larger number, the artist can choose to do a smaller number or outright refuse if they feel it is too much work for them.
❥ All growths for all offspring in a litter be posted directly after the initial litter be posted. If not done within a month's time then the artist will be asked to add another capable artist to do so.
❥ All growths will also be custom lined and different from eachother, no re-using lines.
❥ Artists may request other artists to do growths for them under the litter page. Doesn’t matter the reason.

♡ However if it is planned for the other artist to do so prior to the litter being posted, the artist in question must be prepared to do them as soon as possible.
❥ Drawing of young picture offspring options-

♡ A copied set of 1-4 made by the artist (like seen in most pre-lined adopts) which are or nearly are identical to eachother.
♡ A small colored headshot set cover of the 2 parents (or one parent if the other parent is a donor/surrogate without an image) with an arrow downward with immediate adult growths posted.
♡ Custom lined offspring. Can be messier/not accurate to the adult growths. Don’t have to be different layers.
❥ Staff does not have to do a percentage for all mutations not appearing in the parents if not wanted. They can instead do the following. (Rolled per offspring, not in the litter as a whole).

♡ Choose only to do Standard, or Standard-Common mutations listed on the Key.
♡ Choose to do a handful of mutations listed on the key.
♡ Ask a moderator or the owner to choose the mutations they roll or roll for them (if they have time).
♡ Choose to roll up to twice in the percentages, see if any appear within the limits needed, and then either choose the one/s that appear, have someone else choose them for you, or roll again to see what ones appear but instead in a generator for random choice.
❥ When doing the percentages, if you're unsure please consider the following corresponding using a 1-100 number generator. They appear if they roll within these limits.

1% = 99-100
2% = rolled 98-100
3% = rolled 97-100
5% = rolled 95-100
10% = rolled 90-100
20% = rolled 80-100
30% = rolled 70-100
50% = rolled 50-100
♡ Smaller percentages rolled can include the bigger percentages when rolling overall for mutations and disabilities. (ex- rolling 91 is 10% but can include 20-50% mutations as well)
♡ Phenotypes can be done however the artist wishes to do them, but if help is needed the species owner can do them for them.
♡ All mutations seen on parents are anywhere from 15-100% available when rolling depending on the percentage of the mutation. Ask the species owner or another artist that has done the mutation listed in a litter before to know what percentage you should use.
♡ For disabilities do the following (the higher percentage can have the lower percentage disabilities included) -

❥ At 30%, disabilities are- vision impairment, hearing impairment, speech impairment (can be partial to any severity), missing toes (2 on a foot max, on one foot), or missing ear (can hear, just missing the bit of the ear that would be there)
❥ At 20%, disabilities are- vision impairment, hearing impairment, speech impairment (can be partial or full and to any severity), missing toes (2 on a foot max, can be on multiple feet), missing both ears
❥ At 10%, disabilities are- vision impairment, hearing impairment, speech impairment (full to any severity), missing foot (one foot max), missing one limb (one leg max), missing eye (one max)
❥ At 5% or less rolled, disabilities are- vision impairment, hearing impairment, speech impairment (full and blind/deaf/mute), missing foot (two feet max), missing limb/s (two legs max), missing eyes (both)

ADOPTION GUIDE -

❥ An offspring can act as someone's first pet if you give one to them, however they cannot be gifted to someone who has a pet already but doesn't have a storage forum/page.
❥ Offspring adoption functions the same as normal SFA adopts and will be run by another staff member.
❥ The pet will be adopted off on the full grown image and only the grown image.

NURSERY DONOR/SURROGATE RULES -

❥ The donors and surrogates rotate/change every 2 months or so. If there is at some point not enough suggestions (located on the discord only), then previous suggestions will be re-visited.

♡ If no litter requests are taken for the 2 month time period, the listed options will stay for an additional 2 months.
❥ The same-sex breeding item also applies to the nursery donors/surrogates and any custom donor/surrogates the user chooses to get.
❥ When listing on the lineage they will be listed as 'Donor/Surrogate #'.
❥ Nursery donors/surrogates listed are all suggestions from our SFA Discord.
❥ Nursery donors/surrogates are not real SFA pets and will not be considered as such.
❥ Nursery donors/surrogates do not have cool-downs.
❥ Nursery donors/surrogates do not have official images but do have official coats and phenotypes that cannot be edited.
❥ Nursery donors/surrogates are not available to become customs until after they are off the donor/surrogate list.
❥ Some nursery donors/surrogates are previous pets from our affiliate SCS which were suggested from their owners, and as such is up to them if they are available for customs even after they are off the list.

PARENT GUIDE -

❥ Without the item for same-sex litters, all litters are required to have a biological sire (male) and biological dam (female).
❥ The biological parents (sire/dam) have a 2 month cooldown between litters. After the 2 month cooldown has ended, they can once again have another litter.

♡ This does not apply to Nursery Donors and Surrogates, who are listed specifically for those either needing a donor/surrogate for a same-sex litter or simply not having a pet in mind for the litter.
♡ At least one parent needs to come from the user requesting the form. The other can be from another SFA user, a listed Nursery Donor/Surrogate, or a Custom Donor/Surrogate if not also an official pet from SFA owned by the requesting user.
❥ If the donor or other parent belongs to another user, the litter for the pair will always at least contain 2 pets. The other user can choose to take one or not to take one but there will always be at least 2-4.
❥ SFA pets do not have a specific number of litter slots. This may change if this is abused by any user.

PROMPT GUIDE -

❥ All prompt answers much be CS safe.
❥ Prompts are required for all requests to prevent using pets as breeding animals.
❥ The requesting user must provide either a written piece or an art piece with one or multiple of the following themes-

♡ Family/Familial connection
♡ Romantic Love or How the parents met/fell in love
♡ Discussion about family
♡ Meeting the new children or some kind of lesson for one or multiple children
♡ A heartwarming moment between the parents, or one parent and the children
❥ If involving another user's SFA pet, they can choose to provide a collaboration piece or roleplay if they choose as long as it meets the minimum requirements for either.
❥ Writing minimum is 300 words and artpiece minimum is colored fullbody with partial background.
❥ The piece must include either-

♡ Both parents (both biological or non biological + biological)
♡ One parent an other family (must be related in some way to the prompt theme)
♡ One or both parents and the children (at any stage in life)
❥ When asking for the same pair again you must have a new prompt answer.

"What can I do if I do not want the offspring?"
If the user does not end up wanting any number of the offspring, they can be-

❥ Gifted to another user. Preferably a user in SFA but any outside of SFA can only receive one offspring if they do not have a shelter/kennel/cattery in the archive listed (and if they don't already have one pet without a shelter/kennel/cattery).
❥ Asking the pet be adopted out by the artist or a staff member (see Adopting Guide on the thread).
