XXXX
XXXX
GENERAL

● Only artists on the Shinook Spitz staff list may create official Shinook Spitz.

● Please respect everyone. Do not be rude to anyone, especially the staff. Bullying or harassment will not be tolerated.

● Do not beg, try to bribe, or otherwise harass artists regarding their adopts.

● Do not spam or double post. Take chats to private messages. Saying "mark" on any of the related threads is allowed.

● Do not mini-mod. Please let the staff handle any misbehavior or answer any questions posted. This is to ensure that misbehavior is dealt with properly and questions are answered without any chance of a member giving the wrong answer by mistake.

● Do not steal. This includes things such as the lineart, any graphics used in the threads, or Shinook Spitz already owned by someone else. Shinook Spitz staff will not hesitate to report members if they are caught stealing.

● Members should not whine if they did not get the Shinook Spitz they wanted or if there aren't any available. There will be more to try for later, and if there haven't been adopts out in a while it just means that the artists are busy.

● Shinook Spitz may not be owned by more than one person at a time. This is to help deter drama among members.

● Shinook Spitz can be showcased on other websites but must always be credited to rainbowpanda101 and the artist who made the design. If posting to another website, such as toyhouse or deviantart, always link back to the Shinook Spitz main thread so others can see where it came from.

PAYMENTS

● Breeding and customs require C$ payment to the artists. Members who are accepted by an artist for a breeding or custom must send the payment in a ready to accept trade to the artist before the artist will begin working on the breeding or custom.

● Trade cancellations done without warning before the artist is finished with a breeding or custom will earn members a strike. If a member needs to back out of a breeding or trade, they should contact the artist about it first. Do not cancel or try to edit a trade before talking to the artist first.

ADOPTING, TRADING, & GIFTING

● Members can own an unlimited number of Shinook Spitz but should allow others to adopt if they have quite a few already. If Shinook staff begin to notice a trend in certain people winning adopts too often, a monthly adoption limit will be added.

● Shinook Spitz can be sold, traded, or gifted. There are no restrictions on what Shinook Spitz can be traded for. Trade for other Shinook Spitz, for art, other species that allow trading, etc.

● Members must post an update form in the main thread for a sale, trade, or gift to be made official.

● Members may choose to hold re-adoption competitions to adopt out any or all of the Shinook Spitz they own, at any time after receiving them. Members must post an update form in the main thread after a re-adoption winner is decided or the re-adoption will not be official.

SHINOOK SPITZ AS CHARACTERS

● Owners are able to give their Shinook Spitz any personalities, gender identity, sexualities, or other characteristics that they want. However, anything that could be classified as NSFW, controversial, offensive, or not child friendly should not be posted at all. Members will be asked to remove such details on their Shinook Spitz if they are too readily available to the public.

● Members cannot alter a Shinook Spitz's Oekaki image but may be added to the Oekaki thread in order to save a Shinook Spitz to their gallery or to get a transparent/separate image.

● Alternate Universes (AU) are allowed and encouraged. Please respect the AU of others if they choose to go this route.

● Owners may roleplay their Shinook Spitz in any manner they please. However, any roleplays that could be classified as NSFW, controversial, offensive, or not child friendly should not be posted at all.

● Shinook Spitz cannot be fursonas. Please do not ask to make a Shinook Spitz your fursona.

CUSTOMS

● To be able to get a custom, members will need to pay a Shinook Spitz artist to make their custom.

● Customs must abide by the Genetics section and must be created by a member of the Shinook Spitz staff.

● Customs cannot be based off reference images or pre-existing characters.

● There are no restrictions on how many Custom Shinook Spitz a person can have.

BREEDING

● To be able to get a breeding, members will need to pay a Shinook Spitz artist to breed their Shinook Spitz.

● As Shinook Spitz are based off of real dog breeds, only male and female Shinook Spitz can breed and produce offspring.

● Sexes will be assigned at birth and listed to determine their compatibility with other Shinook Spitz during breeding. The sex of Shinook Spitz cannot be altered.

● Shinook Spitz litter sizes are 1 to 4 pups. The number of pups in a litter will be determined by a random number generator, with 1 or 2 being more common than 3 or 4.

● There are no restrictions on how many times Shinook Spitz can breed. They can mate for life or breed with a different Shinook Spitz each time they breed. Whether a Shinook Spitz mates for life or not is up to the owner.

● When requesting a breeding, the Shinook Spitz being bred must be owned by the member(s) requesting the breeding.

● Members can only advertise for a breeding partner once per page in the Nursery. Please take all breeding partner discussions to private message. Partner discussions in any of the threads will be considered spam.

● In partner breedings, both members must post a filled out form. Once the first partner posts, the second partner has to post their form or the request becomes invalid. The second partner to post must link to the first partner’s form.

● Partners must decide what will happen to the pups produced from their breeding. If a fair decision cannot be made between the partners, they may request a Shinook Spitz staff member to step in and help make the decision.

WHAT ARE SHINOOK SPITZ?

XXXThe Shinook Spitz (pronounced she - nook - spits) is a new breed of dog developed by mainly crossing the Shiba Inu with the Chinook and a few other random breeds. The other unknown breeds used to create the Shinook are what introduced the Agouti, Brindle, and Ticking markings into the new breed. The Countershading marking, also known as urajiro, came from the Shiba Inu.

ANATOMY

XXXWhile the Shinook Spitz ended up physically looking much more like the rounded Shiba, they sometimes have one or two floppy ears and a straight tail like the Chinook. Pointed Ears are most common, as they are dominant over Flopped Ears. They also have almond shaped eyes, a large nose, and can have longer or shorter fur.

DIET

XXXThe Shinook Spitz can be sustained easily on a diet of high-quality dog food. Like their Chinook ancestors, they are prone to obesity so owners should keep an eye on the amount they eat and make sure they get plenty of exercise since they are high energy dogs. A comfortable life sitting on a couch all the time will not suit these pups!

TEMPERAMENT

XXXTheir personalities can range from aloof and stubborn to outgoing and eager to please. Like all animals, each Shinook is unique in the way they react to the world around them. Some may be shy and skittish around other humans or other dogs, while others bask in any kind of attention they receive. While their personalities may differ greatly, most Shinook Spitz are dedicated and loyal to their owners.

GENERAL CARE

XXXThis breed doesn't need much grooming, but they do shed seasonally when it gets warmer out. Shinooks have boundless energy and can be a bit destructive if not cared for or trained properly. Thankfully, they tend to be easy to train unless you end up with one a little more on the stubborn side! They are happy to be inside with their owners for short periods of time, but they also immensely enjoy getting out and going for a run.

XXXX
XXXX
-----Semi-realistic genetics are being used to determine the base coat color, coat dilution, coat length, tail length, and markings of all Shinook Spitz. While two pups may end up with identical genotypes for their genetic based traits, fear not! That doesn't mean that the pups will look exactly the same. All Shinook Spitz will be unique due to differences in color, where/what shape a marking is, and more.

-----Certain traits are more dominant while others are more recessive. For example, a Black base coat is more dominant than a Red base coat. Since Black is dominant over Chocolate and Red, the Black base coat is more common. Some traits have more genotypes than others. For example, the Agouti marking has 3 different genotype pairs (AA, Aat, Aas) while the Tan Points marking only has 1 genotype pair (atat).

-----Punnett squares will be used to help determine what genotypes pups end up with during breeding. A Punnett square is a tool used to predict the genotypes produced by two creatures. For example, if one parent has a Black base coat with the genotype KK and the other parent has a Chocolate base coat with the genotype Kk, then they will produce 50% Black pups with KK and 50% Chocolate pups with Kk. What genotype a pup receives for each trait will be determined using a random number generator during breeding.

XXXX
XXXX
BASE COAT COLOR

Black (KK) – black base coat
Chocolate (Kk) - brown base coat
Red (kk) - red base coat

Notes

● Do not make any base coats so dark that the lineart disappears. The lineart must remain clearly visible.

● Black base coats can range in color from charcoal gray to black. Choose colors for this base coat in the lower left corner of the color box. Make sure there isn't a tinge of blue or any other color in the coat.

● Chocolate base coats can range in color from tan to dark brown. Choose colors for this base coat in the orange range, but do not choose any color with too much orange or red in it.

● Red base coats can range in color from orange to dark red brown. Choose colors for this base coat in the orange and red range, but do not choose any color that is too close to brown. All Red coats should have an orange or red tint to them.

XXXX
XXXX
COAT DILUTION

Non-dilute (DD, Dd) – base coat is not affected and remains Black, Chocolate, or Red

Dilute (dd) – base coat is affected and is altered to be a lighter shade

Notes

● Black becomes Blue. Blue base coats can range in color from blue-silver to blue-gray. Choose colors for this base coat in the mid-blue range and on the left side of the color box. Do not choose anything that is too blue.

● Chocolate becomes Lilac. Lilac base coats range in color from light gray-brown to dark gray-brown. Choose colors for this base coat in the red range and on the upper left side of the color box. Do not choose anything too pink or red.

● Red becomes Cream. Cream base coats range in color from cream to pale orange. Choose colors for this base coat in the orange range and on the very top of the upper left side of the color box. Do not choose anything too orange or dark.

XXXX
XXXX
EARS

Pointed Ears (EE) – both ears are pointed

Half n Half (Ee) – one ear is pointed, one ear is flopped

Flopped Ears (ee) – both ears are flopped

XXXX
XXXX
COAT LENGTH

Long Fur (LL, Ll) – fur is long

Short Fur (ll) – fur is short

XXXX
XXXX
TAIL SHAPE

Curl Tail (SS, Ss) – tail is curled over the rump

Straight Tail (ss) – tail is straight and not curled

XXXX
XXXX
AGOUTI

Agouti (AA, Aat, Aas) – adds blurred, gradually darker patches along the back of the head and ears, the back and shoulders, and along the top of the tail and the tail tip

Tan Points (atat) – adds pips above the eyes, coloration on the muzzle/cheeks, two triangular patches on the chest, and coloration on the lower legs, paws, and the bottom of the tail

Saddle (asas) – adds a large black patch on the back and shoulders

Smoke (atas) - adds both Tan Points and Saddle at the same time

Notes

● Agouti is dominant over Brindle. If paired with Brindle, Agouti will show and Brindle will not. Even though Brindle may not show in the coat, it can still be passed on during breeding.

● Tan Points appear red on Black/Chocolate base coats, cream on Blue/Lilac/Red base coats, and an even paler cream on Cream base coats.

● If paired with Brindle, the Tan Points will appear over the Brindle stripes and not have the stripes in them.

● Saddle can "retreat" meaning the black patch covers less of the back and shoulders as a Shinook Spitz gets older.

XXXX
XXXX
BRINDLE

No Brindle (BB, Bb) – no brindle

Brindle (bb) – adds a distinct striping pattern

Notes

● Brindle does not appear on the Black base coat or any black markings. Even though Brindle may not show in the coat, it can still be passed on during breeding.

● Chocolate, Red, and Cream Brindles have black striping. Blue Brindles have darker blue-gray striping. Lilac Brindles have darker gray-brown striping.

● Agouti is dominant over Brindle. If paired with Agouti, Agouti will show and Brindle will not. Even though Brindle may not show in the coat, it can still be passed on during breeding.

● If paired with Tan Points, the Tan Points will appear over the Brindle stripes and not have the stripes in them.

● When paired with Countershading, the Countershading causes the striping pattern of Brindle to lighten wherever it covers the Countershading marking. So any striping on the face, chest, belly, undersides of the legs, and along the bottom part of the tail will look lighter.

XXXX
XXXX
COUNTERSHADING

Shaded (CC, Cc) – adds a light coloration on the face, chest, belly, undersides of the legs, paws, and along the bottom part of the tail

Not Shaded (cc) – no Countershading

Notes

● Countershading appears as a lighter shade of the base coat. For examples, Countershading on Black would appear gray while Countershading on Lilac would appear as a lighter gray-brown.

● When paired with Countershading, the Countershading causes the striping pattern of Brindle to lighten wherever it covers the Countershading marking. So any striping on the face, chest, belly, undersides of the legs, and along the bottom part of the tail will look lighter.

XXXX
XXXX
MASK

No Mask (MM) – no Mask

Light Mask (Mm) – adds a black patch that colors the muzzle and face around the eyes, as well as the tips of the ears

Heavy Mask (mm) - adds a black patch that colors the muzzle, face, ears, and down the chest, as well as black patches on the toes and the tip of the tail

Notes

● Light Mask can also add black pips on the eyebrows.

● Mask covers (appears on top of) all other markings except White Spotting.

XXXX
XXXX
TICKING

Heavy Ticking (TT) – adds a heavy amount of flecks or spots of color on white areas

Light Ticking (Tt) – adds a light amount of flecks or spots of color on white areas

No Ticking (tt) - no Ticking

Notes

● Ticking only appears on a coat if White Spotting is inherited (Ww or ww). If Ticking is inherited but White Spotting is not, Ticking can still be passed on during breeding. It will not show on any Residual White markings, as these markings only appear if White Spotting is not inherited.

● The color of the spots added by Ticking should match whatever color is beneath the white. So if the base coat is Black and there are no other markings, then the spots would be black. If there are Tan Points covered by White Spotting, the spots in those areas would be red, cream, or pale cream depending on the color of the Tan Points. If there is Brindle covered by White Spotting, the spots in those areas will be striped.

● Ticking does not show on young Shinook Spitz but will appear as they age.

XXXX
XXXX
WHITE SPOTTING

No White (WW) – no White Spotting

Mantle (Ww) - adds white patches on the muzzle, neck, chest, legs, and tip of the tail

Piebald (ww) - adds larger white patches on the body, leaving behind smaller patches of color

Notes

● The white patches cover (appear on top of) all other markings or patterns.

● Mantle can also make the entire neck white and/or add a blaze of white on the face. This marking is also known as Irish spotting.

● Piebald can cover up to 80% of a Shinook Spitz with white. The face, ears, and tail are typically the last areas with color as the white "spreads" over the dog.

Residual White

● Residual White has no genes acquainted with it and thus can be seen on any dog that has no White Spotting (WW). It adds small amounts of white to the face, muzzle, chest, toes, and tip of the tail.

Snowflake Spots

● Snowflake Spots has no genes acquainted with it and thus can be seen on any dog, even ones with White Spotting. It adds spots of white across the coat. The spots should always be small and sparse.

XXXX
XXXX
EYES & NOSE COLORS

The eyes range in color depending on the base coat color.
Blue eyes are only possible if there is enough white on the face.
Heterochromia iridum (2 different eye colors) is also possible,
which also occurs only if there is enough white on the face.

Black Base Coat = Brown/Dark Brown Eyes
Chocolate Base Coat = Light to Dark Brown Eyes
Red Base Coat = Brown/Dark Brown Eyes
Blue Base Coat = Light Brown, Yellow, Gray Eyes
Lilac Base Coat = Light Brown, Yellow, Gray Eyes
Cream Base Coat = Light Brown, Yellow, Gray Eyes

The noses range in color depending on the base coat color.
If there is high amount of White Spotting around the nose,
it can be fully pink or mottled with pink and the original color.
For example, a mottled nose can be a mix of black and pink,
brown and pink, or gray and pink depending on the base coat.

Black Base Coat = Black Nose
Chocolate Base Coat = Deep Brown to Dark Pink Nose
Red Base Coat = Black Nose
Blue Base Coat = Blue-Gray Nose
Lilac Base Coat = Purple-Tinted Pink Nose
Cream Base Coat = Black Nose

XXXX
XXXX
CLAWS & PAW PAD COLORS

The claws range in color depending on the base coat color.
If there is enough white on the paws, the claws can be Beige.
Not all of the claws on the same paw have to be the same color.

Black Base Coat = Black Claws
Chocolate Base Coat = Black Claws
Red Base Coat = Black Claws
Blue Base Coat = Gray Claws
Lilac Base Coat = Light Gray Claws
Cream Base Coat = Beige Claws

The paw pads range in color depending on the base coat color.
If there is enough white on the paws, the pads can change to Pink.
Paw pads can also be mottled with pink and the original color.
For example, a mottled pad can be a mix of black and pink,
brown and pink, or dark cream and pink depending on the base coat.

Black Base Coat = Black Paw Pads
Chocolate Base Coat = Deep Brown to Black Paw Pads
Red Base Coat = Black Paw Pads
Blue Base Coat = Blue-Gray to Black Paw Pads
Lilac Base Coat = Light Brown Paw Pads
Cream Base Coat = Dark Cream Paw Pads

BREEDING INFORMATION

XXXX
XXXX
HOW TO BREED

XXXWhen a Shinook Spitz artist is interested in doing some breeding, they will post in the Nursery thread that they are open for breeding. Artists are allowed to either do first come, first serve slots or choose which breedings they want to do from the ones posted during their opening. When an artist says they are open for breeding, simply fill out and post the correct breeding form (found in the Nursery) to be considered for a slot.

BREEDING PRICE

XXXIf you would like to breed your Shinook Spitz, you'll need to pay to do so. The base price for breeding is 100 C$. Some artists may decide to charge more for their designs or charge based on the complexity of Shinook Spitz you're breeding. Pay attention to what each artist says in their opening posts. If you don't, you may be declined a breeding slot by the artists.

LITTER SIZE

XXXShinook Spitz can produce 1 or 4 offspring, called pups, at a time. The number of pups in a litter will be determined by a random number generator, with 1 or 2 being more common than 3 or 4.

PARTNER BREEDING

XXXMost people will probably want to breed their own Shinook Spitz together, but partner breeding is also allowed. Partners are two different people who are breeding their Shinook Spitz together. In partner breedings, both members must post a filled out form. Once the first partner posts, the second partner has to post their form or the request becomes invalid. The second partner to post must link to the first partner’s form.

OWNERSHIP OF PUPS

XXXIf a breeding is done with only one breeder, all of the pups produced from the breeding automatically go to that breeder. They may decide to keep, sell, trade, or gift their pups. Re-adoptions can also be done if a breeder decides to do so.

XXXPartners must decide what will happen to the pup produced from their breeding. Each pup produced will go to one of the partners. From there, they can choose to keep, sell, trade, or gift their pups. If a fair decision cannot be made between the partners, they may request a Shinook Spitz staff member to step in and help make the decision.

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

CUSTOM INFORMATION

XXXX
XXXX
HOW TO GET A CUSTOM

XXXWhen a Shinook Spitz artist is interested in doing customs, they will post in the Customs thread that they are open for customs. Artists are allowed to either do first come, first serve slots or choose which customs they want to do from the ones posted during their opening. When an artist says they are open for customs, simply fill out and post the custom form (found in the Customs thread) to be considered for a slot.

CUSTOM PRICE

XXXIf you would like a custom Shinook Spitz, you'll need to pay for it. The base prices for customs are 100 C$. Some artists may decide to charge more for their designs or charge based on the complexity of the request. Pay attention to what each artist says in their opening posts. If you don't, you may be declined a custom slot by the artists.

REFERENCES

XXXCustom Shinook Spitz cannot be based on reference pictures or already pre-existing characters, whether commercial or original. If you attempt to provide a pre-existing character to base your custom Shinook Spitz on, your request will be denied. If there's a specific sort of color or marking you are wanting, you may provide an image only for clarification. Artists will not directly copy any photos provided.

REQUIREMENTS

XXXCustom Shinook Spitz must abide by the Genetics section. You will get to choose the base coat color, whether the coat is diluted, the coat length, the ear and tail shapes, and what markings the Shinook has. If you have questions at any time or have trouble understanding what traits are available, don't be afraid to talk to rainbowpanda101 and request some help!

Q: Can I be an artist or moderator?
A: Shinook Spitz is going to need artists and moderators. Keep an eye out for the Artist Search thread, coming soon! If you'd like to help out and be a moderator, private message rainbowpanda101.

Q: How much is it to adopt a Shinook Spitz?
A: Regularly released Shinook Spitz put up for adoption will be free to adopt via FCFS, best name, or prompt answering. Just follow the directions in the first post of an available Shinook Spitz to try out for it.

Q: How often can I adopt a Shinook Spitz?
A: As of right now, there is no limit to how often you can adopt Shinook Spitz. Please allow others a chance to adopt if you have quite a few already. If the Shinook staff notice certain people are adopting too often, this rule may change.

Q: How many Shinook Spitz can I own in total?
A: As of right now, there is no limit to how many Shinook Spitz you can own. Please allow others a chance to adopt if you have quite a few already. If the Shinook staff notice certain people are adopting too many, this rule may change.

Q: What if I'm COPPA and want to adopt a Shinook Spitz?
A: COPPA posts do not appear in the Oekaki section of the forums until a moderator checks them. To allow COPPA players a chance at winning first come, first serve Shinook Spitz, all FCFS Shinook Spitz will not be awarded to a winner until at least 48 hours after they are posted. If a COPPA player post ends up being the first post, they will be awarded the Shinook. If a COPPA post does not appear within that time, the Shinook will be awarded to whoever's post is first. If a COPPA player's post appears after a Shinook has already been awarded to the next person, the winning decision will not be reversed. Please keep this in mind if you are a COPPA player and want to try out for first come, first serve Shinook Spitz.

Q: What if I don't want my Shinook Spitz anymore?
A: If you have any Shinook that you no longer want, you can put them up for re-adoption, sell or trade them away to someone else, or gift them to someone else. If none of these options appeal to you, you can private message rainbowpanda101 and request your Shinook Spitz be put back up for adoption without your input.

Q: Can I sell/trade/gift my Shinook Spitz with others?
A: Yes! You can sell, trade, or gift your Shinook Spitz. There are no restrictions on what Shinook Spitz can be traded for. Trade for other Shinook Spitz, for art, other species that allow trading, etc. Members must post a Archive Update Form in the main thread for a sale/trade/gift to be made official.

Q: Can we get custom Shinook Spitz?
A: Yes! Custom Shinook have a base price of 100 C$. Some artists may request more depending on their skill level or the complexity of a custom. Payment is given to whichever artist accepts your request. A custom is made based on what information you give. All customs must abide by what is written in the Genetics post. For a chance to get a custom, post the correct form in the main thread when an artist says they are open for customs.

Q: Can we breed our Shinook Spitz?
A: Yes! Shinook Spitz can breed, and it costs 100 C$ to do so. Litter sizes are 1 to 4 pups. The number of pups in a litter will be determined by a random number generator, with 1 or 2 being more common than 3 or 4. For a chance to get a breeding slot, post the correct form in the main thread when an artist says they are open for breeding.

Q: Can only male and female Shinook Spitz breed together?
A: As Shinook Spitz are based off of real dog breeds, only male and female Shinook Spitz can breed and produce offspring. Members who own Shinook Spitz are welcome to give their dogs any pronouns or gender identifies, but their sexes will be assigned at birth and listed to determine their compatibility with other Shinook Spitz during breeding. The sex of Shinook Spitz cannot be altered.

Q: I'm looking for a breeding partner! Am I allowed to advertise that I am?
A: Yes! Members can advertise for a breeding partner once per page in the Nursery. Please take all breeding partner discussions to private message. Partner discussions in any of the threads will be considered spam.

Q: Can I edit my Shinook Spitz?
A: No. You cannot alter a Shinook Spitz's Oekaki image, but you may be added to the Oekaki thread in order to save a Shinook Spitz to your gallery or to get a transparent/separate image.

Q: Is there a fan club for Shinook Spitz?
A: A Fanclub thread will be posted for Shinook Spitz eventually. Please do not post a Fanclub for Shinook Spitz, as we will be posting one at a later date when we're ready for it.

Q: How do I gain access to the Discord?
A: At the moment, we do not have a Discord set up for Shinook Spitz. Once one has been established, all you will need to do to gain access is private message any of the Shinook Spitz staff and request an invite link!

Q: I have a question that I don't want to ask in public. What should I do?
A: If you have a question related to Shinook Spitz that you would rather not post publicly in the thread, you are welcome to private message rainbowpanda101 at any time. Her PMs are always open, and she checks them quite often so you will probably get a response within 1 to 3 days. However, if you do not get a response within 3 days, send your message again. Sometimes her inbox gets messy, so just keep trying until you get a response.
