About the species
Vaikis are small, bipedal animals that grow up to about 3-4 feet tall at adult size. They’re built for walking and running on their back legs, with fins that help keep their balance while they run. They have clawed hands and padded, unclawed back feet. Although they originated in the desert, they’ve adapted to many different environments. Vaikis are omnivorous and can eat various types of food. Despite their gills and fins, vaikis are generally not suited to life underwater. The gill-like feature on their necks allows them to breathe underwater for short periods of time, but they get less oxygen than usual that way and still need to surface for air.
Dwarfism
Some vaikis remain smaller than others as they age, and only reach the size of a standard vaiki child. They are still able to reach adulthood and breed like any normal vaiki.
Fins
All vaikis have at least one fin, many having one of three common fin types. Many vaikis also have unique fins. Some dwarf vaikis are born without back fins, but this is a fairly rare trait that only appears in dwarf vaikis. Some vaikis have short tails without fins, but this is also quite rare. Some vaikis’ fins are more stiff than others, but they’re generally made out of fur and are able to collapse under them if a vaiki lays on its back. Many vaikis’ fins help keep them stable while running, but others are simply for show.
Mascot
Vaikis have three mascots: Rice Quackers, Doore, and Doone. They can be used by anyone in the community! Their personalities and information is up to interpretation. Rice Quackers is the vaiki shown on the main adopt oekaki image, and Doone (left) and Doore (right) are shown on the nursery page.

Rules
- Be polite and respectful to the community and staff and follow CS rules. Don't cause unnecessary drama.
- Vaikis are a closed species, you may not make your own without a MYO slot.
- You can own as many vaikis as you want.
- Please notify me of any ownership changes. Vaikis may be co-owned, but vaiki staff is not responsible for settling disputes about ownership.
- All vaiki adoptions are done publicly, private forms aren't allowed.
- Transfers/growths can be done on any lineset, oekaki and PSDs are available. PM me to approve transfers/growths.
- Feel free to comment or PM with any questions!
Strikes and Bans
Users who break the rules may receive strikes, which can stay or be removed over time depending on the severity of the situation. Users can be banned for repeated rule-breaking/inappropriate behavior.
Please note that, even when banned, a user's vaikis will not be revoked. Banned users will be allowed to keep all their vaikis as long as they were fairly won/bought/traded for; they will just not be allowed to get any more. The only time vaiki(s) will be revoked is when they were stolen or sold without permission.

If you lose connection with your vaiki, there are several options including finding new owners or changing the design.
Readoption/Gifting
- Vaikis can be gifted or readopted to other users, just notify me of any ownership changes. Readoption contests must be done publicly so all entries are visible.
- You can run the contest yourself or ask me to.
- Vaikis owned more than a year can be traded in to be readopted, and you will receive a MYO in return.
Trades and Sales
- Free adopts may be traded for characters or art, but they may not be sold for any currency including CS pets and items.
- Vaikis that were bought for USD/dA points may be sold for the amount they were originally bought for + added art value (within reason).
Revamping
- PM me for permission to revamp your vaiki's design, I am pretty lenient as long as you can tell it's the same character.
- Line edits can be cleaned up but not changed completely.
- MYO revamps are very open, you can completely change the design and edits with permission from ege.
- You can only use one of the designs. They can't have alternate designs or palettes.
Transferring out of the species
- If you want to transfer your vaiki(s) out of the species, discuss it with me. Transferring will be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
- Please do not adopt vaikis with the intention of removing them from the species, this option is here for users who want to leave the species or have other issues with the species/community/etc.

There is currently an open artist search. Where there are no staff searches going on, please refrain from asking to be staff.

Guest Artists
Guest artists will be chosen approximately every two months. If you are chosen, you can't apply for the next opening, but you are free to apply again after that. Guest artists are allowed to make as many adopts as they like during their GA period. Adopts may be edited, but edited vaikis must be approved by me before posting. Please keep the restricted edits in mind. After creating at least two adopts, you will be allowed to make one custom vaiki. Make sure to get them approved by me before posting.
You must be able to use oekaki to be a guest artist. Covers are only allowed for special adopts as per cs oekaki rules. Please only apply when an application form is available.

Restricted Edits (edits that may not be used on adopts or MYOs)
- Changes to the overall bipedal body structure.
- Removal of neck gills.
- Wings.
- Floating body parts.
- Different species nose or snout.
- Inanimate objects attached to or part of their body (removable items are allowed).
Edit Notes
- All vaikis must have at least one fin on their back or tail.
- Only dwarf vaikis can be created without a fin on their back. If this is the case, they must have tail fins.
MYO rules
- MYOs can be made on the official lines or on custom lines as long as the edits are listed.
- You may transfer a pre-existing design onto a vaiki with permission from the designer.
- MYOs can be revamped with permission from me.
- Designs can't be directly based on characters or people from media, but they can be inspired. For example, you can't make a vaiki that looks exactly like a Pokemon, but you could make a design with similar colors/theme as long as it is a unique design.
Silver Coin MYOs: These vaikis may not be edited, and they must use one of the three standard fin types.
Gold Coin MYOs: Gold coins allow any edits within reason except for those listed in the restricted edits list. Ask ege about anything you’re unsure of.
Gold Carrot MYOs: These MYOs are available in December and can be used to make vaikis on the default reinvaiki base (edits: short tail, horns/antlers, ears, fins).
