Technically: ‘Cavall del Nord’ in Catalan............
Meaning: ‘Horse of the North’ or ‘Northern Horse’
The Nord Cavall is a docile, friendly breed of horse heralding from the northern parts of Iberia. It’s an old breed, but only began to grow in popularity recently. Originally serving as a cart-pulling horse for market, or war horses when the need arose, the Cavalls are now proving excellent in areas such as dressage, driving, or leisure riding. Like many other light Iberians, the Nord Cavall is a baroque horse: agile, but strong in body. It’s been known to found other breeds for their useful build, but there are strong lines of pure Nord Cavalls dating back centuries, which is what’s beginning to circulate the markets now. As per breed tradition, the stallions usually have their mane cropped. This dates back to preferences in the market, and easy stock sorting.
All owned Nord Cavalls have a halter. Those that are unowned do not have a halter, and have the adoption type symbol in the top right corner. New owners may choose a singular halter colour for the leather and a metal, but may also use a specialty halter upon adoption for one more unique. A halter cannot be changed once adopted.
