Hello. Teacats were made in January 2018. Teabags have an unknown starting date, as the date on the
original picture on DA is from 2015-2019, meaning that there is no date for that original drawing... though, upon closer inspection, almost all of the comments are from 2019, which might indicate that these were not popular until very recently. After looking into it even more, I found that Teabags might have started back in 2015-2016, according to
this post here.
Additionally, these are different species. Allow me to break down the differences.
Teacats:
- Have solid faces
- Heads usually are cat-like, though on a few choice Teacats they will resemble other things
- Magically-made by a mistaken tea-powder incident
- Tags cannot just float in mid-air or bop around wherever they please, and are subject to normal laws of gravity
- Tags don't generally contain phrases of writing, and usually indicate either the tea type or the inspiration for the Teacat
- Accessories are added on at a later date and are not a part of the species' design; they are optional and are often added as extras to make a Teacat more original/special
- Except in extremely rare cases, Teacats can't grow plants out of themselves as they're just tea contained in a magical bag/casing that allows them mobility; aren't always wet and can be dried out for a short period of time before needing to be submerged again in tea or fluid of some type
- Teacats are a closed species, meaning that only specified people can make them and others can adopt the already-made designs
- Almost 100 Teacats have been made
Teabags:
- Don't have faces; only have painted-on expressions
- Heads can literally be anything
- Tags float in mid-air and bop around wherever they want to
- Tags can contain literally anything and don't have to be anything linked to the Teabag creature itself
- Must include some type of necklace
- Main idea is that Teabags are wet little critters that spread water and tea around; can grow plants out of them
- Teabags are an open species, meaning anyone can create them
- Only around 30 Teabags exist that I could find after doing a pretty in-depth search for them on the internet
Hopefully that makes sense! Also, up until you posted that image, I had no idea Teabags even existed, and I doubt Katrione, the creator of the species, knew, either. In any case, these are different creatures. Hope this clears some stuff up.
