All right, all you RVEC folks... It's here!

Introducing

SydneyandStorm's
Fjord Horse Color Guide
for RVEC!

Please note: This will give away the future colors and genders of this winter's Fjords. If you don't want to know this information, please skip over this post. ^^

This'll actually be pretty brief, so I won't drag it out longer than it needs to be, but because I haven't made all of the colors yet, here they are:
Brunblakk: The most common Fjord color. It is, essentially, a "black" dun.
Rødblakk: A red dun Fjord, which is more or less a brunblakk without the black gene.
Grå: A "grey" dun Fjord, although grey in this sense does not mean it as the grey that changes as a horse ages. A grå Fjord is, genetically, a brunblakk without the gene that limits black to the points of a horse.
Ulsblakk: The equivalent of a buckskin Fjord. It is a brunblakk with one cream gene.
Gulblakk: The equivalent of a palomino Fjord. It is a rødblakk with one cream gene.
Kvit: A discouraged Fjord color and the equivalent of cremello or perlino. It is any Fjord with two cream genes with the exception of grå Fjords, as the grey masks the color. Because it is discouraged, I will not be making one as a foundation and although it may be bred for, it is up to the president of the Fjord breed association to determine whether a horse of that color may enter. Other than that, a kvit Fjord will not be penalized.

Onto the crosses: The foundations will consist of a male brunblakk, rødblakk, and gulblakk and a female brunblakk, grå, and ulsblakk. The following combinations will be based off of these crosses; any second-generation crosses will not be sorted out ahead of time.

Brunblakk x Grå:

37% chance of brunblakk
37% chance of grå
25% chance of rødblakk

Brunblakk x Ulsblakk:

28% chance of brunblakk
28% chance of ulsblakk
18% chance of grå
16% chance of rødblakk
9% chance of gulblakk

Brunblakk x Brunblakk:

56% chance of brunblakk
25% chance of rødblakk
18% chance of grå

Rødblakk x Grå:

49% chance of rødblakk
25% chance of brunblakk
25% chance of grå

Rødblakk x Ulsblakk:

25% chance of gulblakk
25% chance of rødblakk
19% chance of ulsblakk
18% chance of brunblakk
12% chance of grå

Rødblakk x Brunblakk:

49% chance of rødblakk
38% chance of brunblakk
12% chance of grå

Gulblakk x Grå

25% chance of gulblakk
25% chance of grå
25% chance of rødblakk
12% chance of ulsblakk
12% chance of brunblakk

Gulblakk x Ulsblakk:

25% chance of gulblakk
25% chance of grå
22% chance of kvit
12% chance of rødblakk
9% chance of brunblakk
6% chance of ulsblakk

Gulblakk x Brunblakk:

25% chance of gulblakk
25% chance of rødblakk
18% chance of ulsblakk
18% chance of brunblakk
13% chance of grå

Now if you've been paying attention to the numbers, you'll notice that they all add up to 99 -- not 100. That's because of the 1% reserved for birthing difficulties; I just didn't want to freak you all out by making it seem like Fjords are the only ones that can have birthing difficulties c:

Hopefully this helps anyone looking to breed their "dream" Fjord! <3

AaYvLaA, I will do this breeding, but it's really important for me to note that I need to either see a post written by the owner of the other horse giving permission or have then quote this post themselves and accept it c: Just because any person can technically write up a quote and attribute it to anyone, having a copied and pasted quote from a PM just won't be able to cut it -- I know this isn't what you did, but I've got to draw the line so that people don't get offended if I ask some to have the other person quote their post and let someone get by without that ^^

Long explanation short, I'll either need to be linked directly to a forum post where they gave you permission or have the owner of the other horse quote this post and note that it is accepted for all breedings in the future c:

hello, bonjour
please call me believe

herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.
