Hey, RVEC folks -- it's time for an event!

To be more specific, a trail ride.

This is not, by any means, the only events we'll be having -- let alone the only trail ride. However, I'd like to do a bit of a community-building event and this is the best way I've come up with. c:

Basically, I will be creating 15 horses of various trail-riding breeds and randomly assigning them to those who choose to enter. After the ride, all horses will be up for adoption; you aren't obligated to keep your horse, though you will have first priority if you do want to keep him or her. The rest will be adopted out by silent auction, which I will explain when that time comes. There will be no trading horses; you get what you get, just like on an actual trade ride. If you have developed your character to have a certain requirement (needing taller horses because he or she is tall, etc.) before the time of this post, you can PM me if the horse doesn't work with your character physically; otherwise, you're stuck >:) You don't have to own a horse in order to participate in this trail ride, and rescues are just as welcome to join in on the event and later adopt their horses or others'.

Essentially, we start out with 15 users, or more, if more want to enter. I can make more horses without a problem. You must be dedicated. If you make it all the way through, you will receive 5,000c. The only way to not make it through is to quit, so you don't have to worry about a random event forcing you to give up.

This is more or less a roleplaying game, so you'll be playing as your barn manager/another character from your barn; I'll be setting up a separate thread for the event, but random events will be happening that will affect you based on your horse's character and physical stats, and the horses that are able to will automatically pass it. The horses that cannot pass must be aided by the other users, and I will tell whether or not that attempt worked. You all cannot leave any horses or players behind in order to finish the trail ride. Oh, and there will be one larger prize at the end of the ride for a couple members... but I'm not going to say what it's for because that'll ruin the surprise c:

All right! So if you've got any more questions, feel free to ask me! If not, PM me if you'd like to join and I'll put you down with a number ^^

I think I'll close joining tomorrow so that I can get started on the horses, and I'll just have to cut the number of horses down... Either that or I'll allow those who have registered before the deadline to swap horses with those who didn't register until later regardless of whether the other person wants to ^^ I can see everyone who's been online so I'm not just being mean to people who haven't had the opportunity to be online yet, I swear! <3 Happy Easter, all!

Well, I've been quite the busy person recently -- I think this is the closest I've ever been to being completely finished with breedings, and all I've got left are Oddly's Perches, so yay for that! Additionally, I've been working with appaloosa patterning, since it's about time to expand into other types, and I'd like to announce that the full range of appy coats will now be available on the sim! There are (on this sim -- most of this isn't realistic but is easier to keep up with) seven different types of PATN, and a heterozygous and homozygous form of each, and when you combine that with LpLp vs Lplp -- well, this is going to be interesting c: So if you see any strange PATN-6s on horses from now on, no worries! It's just a part of the genetics that I'm putting into practice so that we can easily manage the breedings c:

If you haven't signed up for the trail ride yet and are wanting to do so, please PM me by tonight! You can still do it afterwards, of course, but if your horse is posted before you are assigned to it, someone else can switch their horse with your horse and you won't have any control over that ^^'

I have a private auction that started today. I have 3 purebred horses. A Percheron, Appaloosa, and a Tennessee Walking Horse. Please bid as they are all cheap and good horses. This auction ends on the 15th or sooner, so don't miss your chance on buying some wonderful new breeding/showing stock.

I have a small question about the trail ride horses. Will they come with names, or will we name them? It's a tiny detail, but I'm curious nonetheless.

Very good question, HeroHorse! ^^ They do come with names, but not show names, and the names can be changed once you own them (not on the trail ride). c: Don't expect them to be too in-depth -- I just got them off a list of most common horse names -- but it's there for that extra realistic touch ^^

Keep an eye out for yours -- I've only got two more horses to create until I start posting them, and they'll go in the order of the members who joined c:

That's cool. I do like the idea of them having predetermined names names because, as you said, it adds realism. The event sounds brilliant!

Okay, new rule -- no more than two breedings requested per user per page xD

By the way, to all the breeders out there -- I'd just like to make note of a problem that is currently going on in real life: breeding without a market. As fun as it is to make new foals, it's not likely that you'll be able to sell them quickly or even at all. Almost everyone here is more interested in breeding them, and each person has their own breed of choice; if you don't have a use for the foal other than to sell it, you'd probably be better off not even creating the foal ^^' If there were a market for them, that'd be one thing -- but right now, it's going to be tough, and I hate to see them go to waste!
