he was right of course; chipper was almost always right. he was right about the attack, about the fact that the pirates didn’t really have a territory. teadrip sighed, admitting this aloud, “yes, you’re right. but for now.. let’s just give him one of these herbs,” the blue and white she-cat shuffled the herbs she had found beneath her paws, “hopefully it’ll help him with the pain when we take him back to the ship.” chipper nodded in agreement. “and.. I’m sorry for not listening to you. this whole mess could’ve been avoided if I had just calmed down and took some advice. you wouldn’t be hurt squashpaw.” teadrip glanced at the young orange tom, as if to say sorry to squashpaw as well. she sighed once more before picking up and herb and giving it to him to eat. hopefully it would help.
chipper made the first move to start dragging squashpaw back to the ship, but he uncurled before chipper could help. with a cough, squashpaw growled; “no thank you. I can walk back on my own four paws.” he got up wobbly, and toppled over before he could stand fully. chipper shook his head and went to help squashpaw anyway. he supported his clanmate’s left flank while teadrip supported squashpaw’s right. squashpaw let out a sigh of acceptance, and instead of glaring at chipper, he glared at teadrip.
the patrol continued on in this manner, not realizing how far they were in to the city and how long it would take to get back to camp. every once and a while the trio stopped, letting the injured tom catch his breath.
