What has life been like for your fumi throughout their stages of life?



Toddler | Ibu has always been very curious. A curiosity that was fostered by the free environment in which Ibu was raised.

"Mama, what's this? Dama, what's that?"

Every toddler has the 'asking a million questions phase', and for Ibu that phase seemed to never end. Not unusually either, it was paired with a strong urge to be independent. He had to do everything himself, and refused help even when he was unable to do something himself.




Child | As a child, all Ibu really cared about was him and his world.

Nothing was more important than what he wanted to with Izel that day. The two of them would lose track of time together, playing outside until the sun set. There were no such things as consequences or the feelings of others. Surely Ibu and Izel would speak lovingly of this time, but that may not be the case for anyone or anything that crossed their path.




Teen | Lately, Ibu has become more reflective about his role on Earth.

His parents are trying to have those more serious conversations with him. These conversations haven't fallen upon deaf ears, but he still has quite a long way to go. There are occasions where he now consciously chooses to ignore the wishes of others, rather than not knowing others have wishes.

"Dama.. do you think people hate me?"

Ibu now regrets when he hurts others, and is trying to do good more than ever before. Daiya taught him to redirect any negative energy towards spreading plant life around the area, an activity that has drastically improved Ibu's ability to deal with difficulties.

“you aren’t from here, are you?”


Ina never thought of herself as lonely, so she really thought that she would need an imaginary friend to keep her company. but it turned out, for her, that imaginary friend would come in the form of books.

she had started imagining herself in the stories. just little glimpses here and there.

“what if i was an amazing baker? then i could make delicious pastries and then people would line up in my store. then that's when they would come and maybe we’ll become close friends! or what if i was an amazing knight? i could protect the kingdom and then-”

so it turned out to be more fun than she originally thought. It probably came from Ina’s tendency to get absorbed whenever she was reading. it came very naturally to her, to the point where she would start visioning and imaging and not realise it until after.

it was mesmerizing. the words would form characters and the play would unfold. she would it was impossible to not try and imagine how wonderful it would have been if she had lived in a world like in the stories. she would walk with the characters and have so many adventures. oh the possibilities were endless ! more than enough to fill her empty time. she even started to long for the moment that she would be free and be able to come see them again.

Ina would also come up with elaborate stories of her own. characters changed often to accommodate the newest book that she just read. she would live in one world until the next whisked her away for another breathless adventure.

little did she know, eventually that little corner of her imagination would become a big core part of her childhood.

Prompt:
Zia was not one to get stuck on "imaginary friends" mostly considering they made new friends everyday throughout their reality shifts. One day they would be talking to a red breaded pirate with one leg and 3 eye patches, the next it might be a blue otter pup with a galaxy like gaze and two tails. Depending on the day and what reality they were in would create what most would call imaginary friends. With Zias imagination the possibilities are endless. Though out of all the beings they have meet, one has constantly stuck within Zia. A vanta black cat, with 4 bright green eyes, 6 tails, and a white right hind leg. Zia has met them a handful of times, each experience ends more harrowing than the last but the cat calls. With a gentle purr and a sturdy meow, Zia is often sucked in by what ever they truly are. They don't know much about the cat, not even a proper name. Though the cat can speak Zias language, it seems to choose not to, only reserving a hello when they meet and a goodbye as they part. Zia often longs for the next reality shift with the cat. Though ending dangerously each time, the adventure to be had is much more enjoyable than majority of their shifts. They also wish to learn most about the cat, in time. So if Zia had to pick an "imaginary friend" it would first and foremost be the vanta black cat of which they long for. Though Zia will forever have interchangeable friends within their lifetime as with each reality shift comes a new set of characters and a new storyline. Zia just hopes they don't fall in love in another reality considering the differing amounts of time between when they first meet some one and when they next meet them.

Prompt: Willow struggled with feeling and being different as a young fumi, so he had an imaginary friend that he would regularly seek comfort from. Willow’s imaginary friend did not look like anything in particular. In fact, this imaginary friend would take the form of whatever Willow needed at the time. Willow’s imaginary friend was always by his side, ready to help Willow whenever he needed it. If he needed protection from bullies, Willow’s special buddy would suddenly become a leopard. If Willow just needed a shoulder to cry on, his imaginary friend would resemble Willow’s mother. Willow never thought that having an imaginary friend was strange because he did not talk to many fumis. Willow figured that everyone had a pal similar to his friend.
As Willow grew older, his imaginary friend grew and evolved with him. Always an avid reader, now Willow’s singular imaginary friend became multiple imaginary friends—characters from his favorite novels. Willow would frequently daydream about his imaginary friends, and what they would do or say in a particular situation. If Willow was in a sticky situation, his imaginary friend, Robinson Crusoe, would appear. Willow had many favorite novels and he always seemed to be reading, so his pool of imaginary friends grew and grew.
Now, as a father, Willow encourages his daughter, Bali, to have an imaginary friend. Willow believes that having an active imagination is a necessary quality to have as a child, since it fosters creativity. However, Willow also understands that there has to be a balance between imaginary friends and real, living friends. Willow still uses his own imagination to conjure up his old, reliable friends who were always there for him whenever he was having a tough time. His imaginary friends encouraged and inspired him to grow a backbone, standing up for the things he believed in.

Prompt: What has life been like for your fumi/how have they seen the world throughout their stages of life?

Child
As a child, Amelias was an extremely optimistic bookworm. Having faced the world orphaned at a young age, she was grateful for anything she could get her paws around. It helped that her hometown was considerably a safe and nurturing environment. Nothing ever seemed like it could go bad for her.

Teen
Things eventually did go bad. Her colony was split by opposing lords and she was forced to abandon her home and collection of books. Things didn't get better when her flowers started blooming excessively, getting in the way of her eyesight and forcing her to take simpler jobs. Eventually she managed to collect herself and venture to and find her place among the world.

Adult
It was only after she had Shrike did things start falling into place for her. The world was obviously not perfect. Yet, despite the imperfections and difficulties it threw at her, she'd always find beauty in tomorrow. The challenges she faced as a teen had hardened her and given her experience she could pass down. And now, she could finally find peace with her son by her side and the sun at her back.

Prompt: What has life been like for your fumi/how have they seen the world throughout their stages of life?

Infant
The days of Shrike's infancy could be concluded as rather uneventful, if you weren't the one experiencing them. His sight and hearing may have been severely lacking, but the sheer amount of things he could just feel.. was unforgettable. Nothing existed until he felt it. Each day was an entire barrage of new and different textures. His mother's fur, his blanket, the sun; that was his world.

Toddler
Sound is an indescribable sensation that must be felt and heard to fully comprehend. Or at least, that was Shrike's first impression, just simpler. Having his ears open and eyes following close behind, Shrike was a synonym for trouble. He was frequently wandering off after vibrations or the sounds of bird songs. Thankfully, his little legs never carried him too far away from his mother.

Child
It was in his early childhood when Shrike started to become more reclusive. His attitude was always a little too loud or mischievous, and other children seemed to be afraid of him because of it. He did not feel self-conscious or regretful of his personality, but did experience dread when he realized just how different he was. He had a sense of self-awareness that others lacked, and he never did understand why.

Prompt:

As a child and young fumi, Nizzy saw the world as bright and full of a need to explore. Curiosity certainly isnt uncommon for children, but Nizzy was obsessed with the idea of becoming a famous celebrity and getting to travel all over the world, seeing their name in lights and standing on some of the worlds greatest wonders. To Nizzy, the world was endless, and held nothing but good things and innocence.

Of course, as Nizzy grew, the wonder of the world faded into something a little more… realistic. Though they very much so enjoyed the world and all it held within it, it’s secrets definitely weren’t going to be revealed in the form of them being some world class A List celebrity with a private jet and having lunch in the french countryside or having dinner at the Great Pyramids. Instead, Nizzy focused on capturing the wonder they felt the world held through pictures. Photography become a way to still let their inner child be free and let their imagination run wild both while taking the pictures, coming up with new ideas for photos, and studying and posting the results to his blog.

Now, as a young adult, Nizzy knows the world is full of more corruption than innocence. Although everyone wishes to have their childhood wonder back and wishes the world looked as bright and colorful as it did when you were young, Nizzy is also grateful for the lessons they’ve been taught by the world’s cruelty. They still enjoy taking photos, that much is for sure, and they can always enjoy how they can express themself through photography.. But mentally, they are much more aware of what the world can have hiding in it’s darkest and sneakiest corners. They’re just strong enough now to know it exists, and to recognize and stand up to it.
