        Username: Hello there! I'm bliss;
Have you read the front page?: Yes, I have read it twice. I'm sooo excited to get started. :)
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: I will be on vacation then (there will be no internet), but I will be able to get on my sister's phone. So, YES! :D
Will you train this mustang?: Of course! I will put a ton of time and effort into it. :)
What are some of your training plans?: (Just going to use male pronouns to make it easier, even if the mustang I get is not a male.)

Well, without giving too much away, first I would let the horse be around the pasture without me bothering him, though I would be standing in there so he could investigate me. Next, after he was used to me being around, I would groom and pet him, touching him all over. And then I would take a halter and show it to him, letting him sniff it and figure out what it was. I would try and slip it over his head, even though the first few times he would shrink back. After I was able to get a halter on him I would attach a lead rope to his halter and lead him. Next, I would lunge him so he got used to running around, but being controlled by a human while doing it and would put the saddle on his back so he would get used to the pressure. After he got used to everything, I would try and ride him, even though it would mean falling off -- several times. After he got used to me riding him I would teach him cross-country, jumping and maybe even a little dressage, and also some tricks. Soon, no one would even recognize him as the wold, untouched mustang he once was.

Have you read the front page?:
I have and I'm very excited to give this a try!

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?:
Unless something comes up that doesn't allow me to pick up my Mustang on that day, I definitely will.

Will you train this mustang?:
Yes, and I will enjoy every second of it! Afterall, the bond created through training is not something to pass over.

What are some of your training plans?:
I will do everything I can to gently gain trust from my new Mustang companion. I will be patient, but I will do my best to calm him or her as soon as I can, so as to keep from adding on more stress. Once they are calm around me and show no signs of stress at me being near them, I will begin introducing the tack. The tack will simply be placed near them, so they can get used to seeing it. This shouldn't take too long, so then I will go through the steps to train them to accept the tack and the weight of a rider.

Once they are used to the tack, I will begin to teach them how I will ride. I will teach them western style and focus more on show riding than any type of showing or racing. If they show any interest in the subjects though, I will alter the training to include one or the other. But, for the time being my plans are simply to get them to the point where they are able to ride easily and not spook. I sincerely hope to have a gentle, well-behaved horse by the end. However, I will love them no matter how I have to train them or what I have to do, just as long as we might be able to find a deep bond together.

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: yes I will be waiting
Will you train this mustang?: of course
What are some of your training plans?: I don't want to give much of my plan away, but I'm going to start my mustang on social skills with foals. I believe foals with help my mustang have a bit of fun before we start show jumping work. While working on show jumping my mustang will be introduced to many humans from many different back grounds.

Have you read the front page?:
Yep! My friend owns a BLM mustang so when I saw that I was so excited to join. (:
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?:
Of course! I can't wait to start!
Will you train this mustang?:
Hopefully daily.
What are some of your training plans?:
I would begin by spending time with it, letting it get used to my scent and its new home, as well as teaching it how to walk nicely on a halter. Once it was comfortable with me and its surroundings, I'd introduce it to other horses and being "spook work", teaching it to not be afraid of things such as lawnmowers, blankets, tree branches and such. Then I would familiarize it with the tack, showing it what it looks like, feels like and smells like before putting it on the horse. From the ground I would teach it the gaits walk, trot, canter and gallop. I would also teach it how to be lunged. Once it has learned I'll these things I would teach it to carry something light in the saddle, maybe some sacks, before riding it. From there we would tune its skills and teach it more complicated moves.

Most of my plan will remain to myself so that you guys actually have fun reading through my progress as it happens, but I'll give ya the basics. First things first, I will have to get them home, used to the paddock (or the stall if I happen to be that ambitious to start, though perhaps not the smartest idea if it's a really small space). Then after working with the environment I will move on to getting them used to being around people and anything else that may occupy the barn. Past that point work with things such as the halter and being led will be tended to, grooming alongside this.

That's all I will be sharing for now, I hope this is sufficient <3

What are some of your training plans?: I plan on training him/her to accept being touched by humans. I also plan for training to halter and lead. I want them to stand still for bathing and grooming. And I would like for myself to be able to saddle up and ride him/her. Not the least important, I wish to gain their trust. And they will need to know how to behave round other horses and animals. That's all to share for now of what I will be doing, for now.

Have you read the front page?: Of course I have! Will probably read it multiple times afterward just to make sure I'm prepared!
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: I am extremely ready to pick my Mustang up and take him/her home with me!
Will you train this mustang?: It will be difficult but I'm ready for a challenge!
What are some of your training plans?: I will start off with basic trust exercises, placing him/her in a part of the pasture that is fenced off from the other horses. This will allow him/her to familiarize itself with the other horses and give me bonding time. I will allow it to get used to its name that I have given him/her and continue with small strategies. This includes approaching, touching, and observing the Mustang's behavior at a distance.

After I see progress has been made and he/she has warmed up to the other horses I will allow him/her into the pasture. I will make observations of how the horse will react to being in a different "herd" from the one it is used to. I will also try to find his/her personality among the group of horses. This will advance into a simple leading drill which will get him/her used to a halter and lead. I will allow him/her to get used to the tack being taken on and off before proceeding with leading him/her. If he/she progresses I will lead him/her around a circle pen. Of course that step will further advance the horse and I into the next step; tacking, mounting, and riding.

This will be the most difficult part considering the horse has never had a human on its back or had tack placed on it as well. Same as the halter and lead I will allow him/her to get a feel of what it's like to have the tack on. I will walk him/her around the circle pen with the tack on and allow him/her to free roam with it on as well. If he/she succeeds, we will further train to mounting. I will have him/her tied up and allow myself to get on and off the horse so he/she gets to feel the weight of the rider. If the horse is calm and seems to have no problems than I will remove lead and try to ride the noble steed. First allowing it to walk freely without me taking charge just so he/she gets used to the feel of both tack and rider. I will take charge after a while to allow the horse to get a sense of how it all works.

That is just a taste of what I will do, hopefully it all works out and the Mustang isn't too hardheaded! Thanks for the opportunity to do this once again!!

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Undoubtedly.
Will you train this mustang?: To the best of my ability.
What are some of your training plans?: (Minimum Answer Length: Three Sentences ; Maximum Answer Length: Three Paragraphs)
I will begin with gaining his/her trust. To do this I will start by keeping him/her in a separate field to other horses, visiting him/her every day in gradually increasing time slots. When he/she is used to me, I will begin to touch him/her very small amounts, gradually getting larger, until I have his/her trust. I would eventually introduce it to a pasture with the other horses and show him/her a halter, letting him/her touch and smell it. When he/she is used to it, I will put it on him/her and remove it, leaving it on for increasing amounts of time. When he/she is used to wearing it, I will teach him/her to walk with a halter, and we will work from there.

I suppose it's about time I showed up! My heart skipped a beat as soon as I caught wind of the news. This will be so exciting... <3

Have you read the front page?: Indeed, I've read it twice actually; And I'm almost positive that I'll re-read it a few more times out of pure anticipation. >u<
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Yes, I will try my very best; but that day in particular is quite busy for me. If I am not able to pick the Mustang up in the early morning or afternoon, then I shall try to pick him or her up that night. If all else falls through, then you can count on Monday morning to be the big day! Golden Lilac Stables will be expecting the new arrival~
Will you train this Mustang?: Absolutely. You can count on it! I'm rearing to get started and I'm eager for another chance to grow in my writing and drawing skills this summer.
What are some of your training plans?:
Building a trust and bond with a wild Mustang can be quite the challenge, but it is key. This starts from day one and continues throughout the horse's life, because it's more than just a temporary goal. I will take things at the horse's own pace, while still crossing that comfort zone on occasion to test and nudge him or her in the right direction. I realize that I will need to establish myself as a "herd leader". However, I will strive to maintain a trust and sensitivity to the horse, never pushing too far.
Taking the horse's personality and pacing into account, I will take every opportunity possible to work on desensitization while still maintaining the delicate balance of trust outweighing fear. This will encompass all of the training I do, not the least of which is that of touch, leading, overcoming obstacles, riding, lunging, socialization, and the performance of commands. I anticipate that most of my training and riding will be done bareback, especially at first, though proper tack will be introduced later on. Specific tack and discipline will depend on the horse I'm given.
How will I be competing this time around? Last year I did loads of writing that focused on the first 7 days of my Mustang's new life. I also did at least one piece of artwork for each chapter that was written. This year I plan to take the broader approach, focusing on the horse's change and progress up until the final days. I anticipate doing quite a bit of writing and artwork, while also adding various other approaches such as a daily log. My methods and structure may change and shift a bit as time goes on, however, I do plan on being very dedicated to this event - treating it as a summer project in which I can strive to grow and develop the talents that God has given me. Plus I had so much fun last year. <3
