✩ Breeding permissions given pre v5 launch are invalid and cannot be used. If you need more perms, ask around! We have a discord channel specifically for this (please wait until after the official launch).

In short, it is our stance that breeding slots MAY NOT be taken away from those who obtained them, even from a previous owner, without explicit permission from the slot holder.
All slots given out before an equid's ownership transfer remain intact unless the slot holder is okay with relinquishing the slot.
This decision mainly comes from a precedent set by the official WME readoption events (link) in which it was stated in the rules that "Breeding slots are to remain with those who have already been promised them. No exceptions."
Horsy has also stated here that slots can only be reclaimed with the slot holder's explicit permission. To clarify: "No answer = keep slot" means "No answer from the slot holder = the slot holder keeps the slot."
Taking back slots after an ownership transfer is unethical and unfair to the person who may have worked for or paid for the right to use the breeding slot. It is not the new owner's place to revoke permission given by the old owner, just like the old owner couldn't take permission away before transferring it.
As long as the slot-holder has definitive proof of permission (an old breeding list posted by the former owner, screenshots including timestamps, etc), they may maintain their right to the breeding slot.
If no list was obtained by the new owner upon receiving the equid, the new owner must make every reasonable effort to collect the information needed to rebuild this list, including but not limited to public posts and board searches to determine foals or slots given. If the list has been deleted but the post still exists, the list may be able to be recovered.
As far as slots reserved by the original owner for themselves go, these should be handled in the sale agreement with the new owner, as the slots may have been relinquished upon the sale.
