description: I was thinking a new fur type- wire coat/shaggy coat or curly coat. Basically, a different non-smooth base look. (impacting the main body and/or the neck ruff etc). Could go for the more polished tight curl or the shaggy more feral terrier. Cute wire coats/terrier beards on a deer (Deutsch drahthaar, schnauzer, deerhound). Or a curly coat might be easier to illustrate/look better (American Bashkir Curly Horse) with coiled fur for the mane/neck ruff.
inspo for custom: Night sky? Dark creature, comfortable in the shadows/mist? idk, whatever you're feelin'!

basically just like shortened or lengthened legs~ I suppose long legs would be hard with canvas space... perhaps just a more sturdy body type for "giant"? Like Clydesdale based or something! but a miniature would be super cute
