100 words (minimum) about their territory/where their pride will be built/how they achieved this territory:

---

Wistful River Sanctuary is a pride formed by a lion who had gone rogue after kicked out of his pride, who have a very traditional attitude and culture of driving out all of their males except the king (and a few princes of his choice) once they are of age. They are raised to be tough and cold, so that they grow up self-sufficient enough to make the long journey to their new land and lay claim to it. On occasion, females would be driven out as well, though this was usually only done if they were a defiant mother who refused to force her child out.

The founder of Wistful River is one such lion, but growing up he was especially receptive to the heartbreak that surrounded him every time a child was forced to leave its pride. Many accepted the pride's traditions and left with grace, while others were heartbroken and had to be forcefully driven away.

Observing the landmarks as he traveled, he made sure that he would always be able to make the journey back near his former territory in time for "sendoff season", so that he could rescue the abandoned members of the pride and take them in to a new home. Though it is meant for his distant relatives, he made it a point to save any abandoned lions, including a young cub he met on his way to his new territory.

The area itself is vast and green, and full of plant life. A massive river with the clearest water he had ever seen twisted and turned across the land. He traveled far, and found a distant place that was so much different than the savanna he grew up in. Hunting was steady and plentiful, and he even taught himself how to catch fish out of the river. The water was also cool and calm enough for bathing and playing. It wasn't something he thought he would be thrilled about, but it turns out that the cool river felt great on especially hot days in the sweltering, humid heat. And best of all, there weren't any other lion prides, so he wouldn't have to fight to steal the land of another.

He made this place home for himself and the young cub he brought with him, and the two would explore this new region and learn all there was to know about it. And by chance, a few rogue lions looking for shelter found their way to him, and he accepted them without a thought. He would occasionally be forced to chase out those who sought to take the land as theirs, but many found him calming, and joined him in his lifelong goal.

Wistful River Sanctuary would grow strong with the bonds between abandoned and lonely lions who found strength in their emotional bonds, and comfort in sharing each other's pain.

I just have a question. If we find that VOK isn't for us and we only have a founder. Could we host a re-adoption ourself or does VOK staff member have to do the re-adoption?

territory prompt: in later years, bards would claim the allfather set him before the two mountains that made up the gates of the celestine valley, fully-formed and burning with heavenly fire. they'd sing that he'd held the secrets of the world between his teeth and a crown of stars had shone over his head; that the world had sung as he took his first pawstep into the land that would become his. in truth, he'd arrived there injured and afraid, his what soft wisps of his mane he had matted against his cheeks and forehead. his coat had been streaked with mud and worse. he'd arrived with nothing, not even the name he'd take two rains later when he'd filled the land with lions and laughter. all he'd had were his claws and even those had been blunted and ragged by the time he'd finally arrived. still, it had been a good land. lush green hills, watered by an encircling river stretched on as far as he could see in any direction. there were mountains in the distance, and at their base, a thick forest teeming with game. it was a place that defied expectations: the surrounding lands were arid deserts, barren and hard and full of darkness. the sun itself seemed to reside in the valley. it was a sanctuary and so the pride would be called sanctum and he would be its king.
maned or not maned: maned
inspo: i love this color palette but i'm not married to it. i really like pale creams, golds and whites and browns. markings are up to the artist, but i love clouded leopard, king cheetah and civet markings. if you're led in a particular direction, feel free to do what you think looks best!

This pride lives in a lush forest where many creatures roam. These lions are not afraid of anything that comes their way! Unless well.. it's a literal killing machine. They may be a bit afraid then. The birds chirp overhead and the gazelles leap through the vines of the trees. They live by a large rock (Not Lion King) which is what provides them shade. The 'higher' 'ranks' live on the cool, gray rock while the lower rest in the shade. They achieved this area when the founder of the pride found it, chasing off the mating pair of wolves from its roots. Those two wolves may or may not attack them some day..
Maned!
Natural-Colored kinda looking like a leopard-tabbyhousecat-cheetah mix of patterns? Thanks! If this isn't possible, go wild please! <3 (If scars are allowed, just a few minor ones from the two wolves, please? ^^)
