good morning everyone! big changes today!
welcoming staff
first off, I would like to announce our co owner, yeena! yeena has been my best friend for many years and was the co-owner of huskies previously, so I am happy to have her on the team again! she will mostly be helping me behind the scenes (such as with her working on the title system for us) and making adopts.
I am also happy to announce one of our artists, Arkinhallow! they will be a ghost artist, but will be helping out a lot when setting these kiddos up! I am very happy to have them on the team as well, and encourage you all to welcome them! <3
I will eventually be announcing other artists in the future, so be sure to check back soon!
staff applications
while artist applications are still running, I have now opened up more staff applications! please see this page for:
- moderator applications
- welcome committee applications
- bank of baltic applications
once the title system gets set up, I will also be releasing applications for this position as well! I just want to make sure those applying for the position know what they would be doing first before hiring staff for it. please feel free to contact me with any questions as well!
general updates
I have now updated the front page: as you may see, we now have a placeholder for founders, customs, and transfers!
the system for founders will be implemented, which will likely be the next thing I work on for today. this will basically work in that people who do not have a baltic husky will set up their kennel and then submit a form for an artist to claim for their first dog (which would be free).
customs will be likely set up once more of the staff team is added, since I want staff consensus about types of payment and prices. this will most likely work that members will pay for a custom at a base price, and then artists can decide if/what they will charge to do customs. however, do not fret! this species is meant to be fun and relaxing, so there will be opportunities to win customs + have customs made for free.
transfers will most likely work in a similar way: however, everyone will automatically get one free transfer. what may happen is you also purchase a base price transfer (and if you have a lot of dogs you will likely get a discount), and work with an artist.
I figure a system where you pay for the customs and transfers themselves and then work with an artist after will be beneficial since:
- users can buy customs + transfers to use at any time an artist is available
- artists can choose what they get paid, but the base price can stay the same for everyone so it is not ridiculously expensive
- discounts can be done on multiple purchases (so, for example, if you are buying a lot of transfers you could save money instead of just waiting to purchase one at a time from an artist)
this is something that I will discuss further with staff for detailed specifics, but if you have any sort of comment/critique/etc please tell me! I will disclose that you WILL be able to purchase everything with baltic currency (bells) as well as get these for free, but the point of this is to not only give artists compensation for doing this work (since customs/transfers must be done timely, to the user's liking, and is not as openly creative as a random adopt an artist can make) but so that I can set money aside for baltic programs such as nursery lines, automatic genetics/breeding rollers, and better automatic systems for titling.
however, please note customs WILL be limited. this species is meant to be fun and relaxing, not a cash grab, so I want everyone to get a chance at these sorts of things, especially because some individuals may not have much resources as others.
this is just general information that will be specified greater at some later time!
specific updates
the archives are mostly completed: at some point, hopefully before I go back to work next week, oats and I will be going through the archives to renumber and rehome dogs.
many dogs have either no competitions, or unjudged competitions. after speaking with a staff member on cs, I have decided that all dogs that do not have homes will be transferred to these lines! they will be either given new competitions, or extend the original competitions so that more members will have a chance at getting a baltic husky. any competition that was unjudged will still count original forms, and have the same (if not very similar but slightly modified) contests!
because there are SO SO SO many dogs like this, the opening event may be a sort of rescue round up pt 2 since there are more than enough dogs to hold a brand new event. I also figure it would again go back to BWSDA roots since the first event was the stray and rescue round up, but this event will just include regular adopt competitions, so no long prompts like last time! I will discuss this with the staff team when it is built, but this is likely what will happen.
