spaceIllyria has always been a precocious sort, very good at caring and looking after herself. That said, one relationship she values for the mentorship it provides is with Willow. Illyria was born on Earth, and her instincts did not match this foreign planet. There was much logic she was missing as a child, and Willow was around from a young age to help guide her. She questioned him incessantly about the planet Fumi's came from and what it was like there. Willow would humor her with stories of himself growing up there and the other fumi's he had met. Illyria decided that one day she'd travel back to this place, this "home".
spaceDespite her nomadic tendencies, Illyria has made a few good friends over the years. One day she visited an exotic animal sanctuary, curious about the various specimens that it held. There she met Izel and her family. Izel was a bit standoffish when they first met, but Illyria was just glad to have another sprout to hang around with. Very quickly the two began to bond, Illyria asking a thousand and one questions about the various animals held at the sanctuary. Izel humored her, and Illyria enjoyed learning new things. Soon their mischevious nature was made known and their tendencies fed off of eachother. They pulled good natured pranks together with Izel's family and Illyria's guardian as the victims. When it came time for Illyria to leave their company, Izel was able to go with her for a bit to travel around to various state parks and other sanctuaries.

A picture of their two sprouts, Izel and Ibu, whom they love with all of their heart and still in awe over. They are so small! Their little noses! And lastly, a painting of Priya and the two cubs they grew up with. Neiđ-Ka isn't sure where their adoptive family may be now, but they are still extremely fond of them.

As the titular fumi for the fumi gardens, this fumi does their best to greet newcomers as they arrive on Earth. They all sit together for a meal before departing on their own life's journeys. It can be a bit lonely, but they get to greet so many enthusiastic faces that it is worth it. Some fumi even return to tell tales of their thrilling adventures and bear gifts as well. It is all this fumi could ask for! To be remembered and have visitors at the very least.

While the companionship of the other fumi are fleeting, this fumi can always count on the attention of the local plants and animals. Their favourite spot in the gardens to pass the time would be under the cover of a willow tree along with any animals that happened to pass them by. Sometimes it can be small birds that swoop down to land under the tree to peck for food. Other times it can be a lumbering bear that would also like some company on a warm sunny day. When they sleep, sometimes the fumi can wake up and see other creatures have joined in the sun nap under the shade of the willow. It is a simple life to wait between arrivals but it is gentle and warm enough that they are happy with it.

Zia doesn't often have friendships. Other Fumis are put off by whatever world Zia thinks they live in.

Though they have recently formed a friendship with Devon. After having a small misadventure on a 'sunken' ship, Devon pushed them back to reality before they stood upon a jelly fish. Taking an interest to Zias flustered response about a sunken ship, Devon has been a help when Zia 'switches' realities.

Zia is slowly coming to terms that other fumis don't experianced the vivid realities that they fall into thanks to Devon. Without a prior fumi and or friend actually interacting with them, they may have never known. Devon has also taken part in Zias adventures.

Though he doesn't experianced the same lucidness as Zia, he finds the childlike innocence refreshing to watch as they sometimes walk in seemingly mindless circles for hours. Essientially pandering to Zias fragmented reality.

Zia hopes to further their friendship and learn from this first in order to make more friends. Being so well perceived with Devon has given them more confidence to open up to others about who they are and why they seemingly act "off" at random intervals. Though it may not be everyone else's reality. This is Zias, and they wish to finally share it with the world.

Prompt: Willow thanks both deities every day for his foolish, sweet daughter—Bali. Before his beloved child came along, Willow used to think that the only relationships he would ever have would be in the fictional world of his book collection. Intimacy only existed for Willow on the pages of his many books. Although Willow desperately wanted to be close to other fumis, he never felt brave enough to attempt to escape his comfort zone. However, once Bali came along, Willow finally felt an emotion that not even his novels could accurately describe. Willow would do just about anything for his child, even though Bali causes more mischief than he could manage at times. Not even Willow’s books mean as much to him as Bali does. Before her existence, in the event of a fire, Willow would say with certainty that he would grab his books. Now, however, Willow knows that pages of paper could be replaced—while his own flesh and blood could not.
Once he became a parent, Willow realized that it was much easier for him to connect with younger fumis. One day, Willow noticed Illyria wandering around. Willow thought she looked rather lost and confused, so he decided to strike up a conversation with her. The duo quickly bonded and became rather close friends. Willow decided to try and teach Illyria about fumi life on Earth. Willow sees himself as Illyria’s mentor, and he hopes that he is a good role model for the younger fumi. Although Willow does not see Illyria often, since she does not stay in one place for too long, Willow wears a locket necklace with Illyria’s picture, so she is always close to his heart.

Prompt: One might think, since Bali and Illyria are close in age, that Bali would be extremely close with Illyria. Bali does view Illyria as somewhat of an older sibling. However, this brings some challenges to their relationship, specifically on Bali’s end. Bali is extremely protective over her father. Although Bali is mostly nice to Illyria’s face, she is also jealous of the relationship that her father and Illyria share. Whenever Illyria makes an appearance, Bali anticipates feeling like a third wheel. Willow always makes a big commotion when Illyria visits, making Bali feel like a background character. Perhaps her jealousy is the root to why she misbehaves so much. It is no coincidence that Bali often “runs away” shorty after Illyria’s arrival. Maybe Bali just wants Willow to make a big commotion about her as well. Bali is always sad when Illyria leaves partly because her father gets upset, but also because she wonders if Willow cares for her as much as he cares for Illyria. It is easy for Bali to forget everything her father does, and has done, for her. Although her father wears a locket of Illyria, he also has his home covered in pictures of Bali. Bali also conveniently forgets the part of Willow’s library that is full of scrapbooks of pictures of her. Bali does not know that, under Willow’s bed, there are stacks of baby Bali journals. Bali’s relationship with nature grows when Illyria visits, since Bali finds comfort being out in the woods or on the beach with her puffin friends. Even though Illyria gets on her nerves sometimes, Bali knows that her life would not be the same without Illyria’s presence.

Prompt: Nizzy overall is pretty.. well.. antisocial isnt the word, but other fumis often find them fairly odd and long term friendships seem hard for them to be able to maintain. Truthfully, they can be very forgetful and communication is difficult for them to uphold when they aren't used to doing so, and this often leads to fresh friendships crumbling rather quickly with a lack of interest and words. In person, Nizzy is very chill to a degree that many fumis think theyre rather two dimensional and uninteresting. However, should they apply themselves and talk to someone that wasn't their shoulder plant, you'd actually find that they have rather interesting hobbies and interests. Although they don't believe that being intrigued in a conversation is something they're capable of, perhaps they'd surprise themselves (and someone else) if they ever found something that made them partake in such an invigorating conversation rather than simply responding with small talk responses and feeling uncomfortable. Most fumis dont have the time and patience to deal with a socially unpracticed adult fumi, so it's much easier for Nizzy to shrug and nod at questions and keep people at a distance than to let them get close and engage with them too strongly.

From the outside, one could say the family is made up of misfits.

Devon hardly seems the kind of man to run a family, so often caught up in his own interests one might think him prone to a negligent father. In reality, he’s quite the opposite. The moment his children arrived, they became his focus - even so much as to improve his relationship with Liam too. He always has time and attention for the kids, and patience far surpassing his more mild-mannered partner.

Liam, while still a doting father, has a role more fitted to the authority of the house. Sometimes he feels as though he’s caring for three children, not just two. He loves them all dearly but can certainly find himself overwhelmed. Thankfully, Dali knows how to read him well and will make up little pictures and notes to cheer him up when he’s looking a little worse for wear.

Dali is certainly the family’s glue. He’s almost always in a bright mood with the purest form of childhood wonder at heart. Everything has excitement, danger, curiosity, and of course, love. He delights in romping with Devon, coloring pictures with Liam, and reading quietly (or sometimes aloud) alongside his introvert brother, Elk.

Elk often finds himself just outside of the picture, not one for hugs or songs or even much for conversation. But the efforts from each member of his family always manage to pull him back. He begrudgingly accepts a picnic here or a hike there, feeling closest to Dali when the whole family gets together. He often quarrels with his parents, Liam especially, but Dali helps to bring him back around (and makes him apologize too).

They’re an odd bunch, undoubtedly, but their love for one another always holds strong.

many of alyssa's longest and closest connections come from within her large family. her grandmother is undoubtedly the head of the household, organizing family gatherings with homecooked food so nostalgic no one ever wants to turn down an invitation. while alyssa had a rocky relationship with her grandmother's steadfast beliefs early on in life, she has since grown to appreciate that her lessons are rooted in decades of experience. however, this isn't to say that their relationship was perfect once alyssa grew older. her grandmother also had to compromise on alyssa's more independent decisions such as moving away to the city. ultimately, she considered her willingness to let her grandkids' lead their own lives a small price to pay for their happiness. alyssa still keeps up with the rest of her brothers and cousins throughout the year and looks forward to seeing them whenever she returns home.

alyssa has also met several fumis upon moving to the city. one of the first she met was neið-ka, who was coincidentally also new to the area. being one of the first fumis she saw, she was convinced that their unique appearance was normal for fumis living in the city. with alyssa missing younger fumis to dote on and neið-ka being lost on their own, the two quickly bonded. alyssa also met carson while attending culinary school and the two keep updated on each other's culinary exploits.

alyssa currently lives with her girlfriend ellie in a small apartment in the city they work in. ellie's internship has her waking up early, while alyssa's catering job has her working until late at night. despite the time difference, they have worked out a schedule to spend quality time with each other every night, airing out work complaints and enjoying one another's company. they hope to one day move back to alyssa's hometown, where they plan to start up a family and take care of their own farm.

ellie grew up with her younger brother and adoptive mothers in a quaint house in the suburbs. her mama works as a freelance artist and spent much of ellie's childhood away from home visiting galleries where her work was featured. ellie grew up in admiration of her mama, although she dreaded the next time she would inevitably have to leave again. her mom was a more grounded force, wrangling two young fumis at home while emotionally supporting her busy wife. her younger brother was a constant annoyance in her youth, but as they have grown older, she has learned to admire the artistic talents he's picked up from their mama and even catches herself missing his constant messing around. ellie's fondest memories from her childhood were when all four of them would travel together to see her mother's work in person. although she and her brother live physically separate lives away from home, she frequently makes video calls back home to her parents and regularly texts her brother.

ellie currently lives with her girlfriend alyssa in a small apartment in the city. she enjoys making her partner the same teas her mother would make her as a child. after a long day at work, alyssa can expect to be met with a soothing cup of chamomile and an empathetic hug. for difficulty sleeping after working late shifts at her catering job, ellie will prepare a warm cup of sleepytime tea and almond milk and have the cozy bed invitingly made. alyssa always apologizes for being such an energy drain after work, but ellie reassures her that she couldn't be happier taking care of the fumi she loves.
