Jaggedstrike watched Dewnose prance away towards Sunstar for a few moments, shaking her head in amusement at the other cat. He certainly had some tenacity, and she couldn't help but admire that from him, even if he always lost. From her perch, she watched Dewnose and Sunstar chatter for a bit, the indistinct sounds of their voices drifting to her ears. She flicked them for a moment, closing her eyes and letting all the sounds near her wash over her. A bug was in the bush Dewnose had tried to scare her from, rustling a leaf almost imperceptibly. Not too far away, the scratching of tiny claws scraped against the dirt - a squirrel or a mouse, burying something or digging something up. Jaggedstrike turned her full attention toward the scratching claws, trotting a few lengths as quietly as possible, using her stealth and coming up with a reward. A squirrel had been attempting to dig up some seeds, and Jaggedstrike brought both back with her. (+3FP squirrel, +1 poppy seed)

It was a relatively calm day - the sun was bright and warming for the cats' pelts, despite the season of Leafbare still holding its grip across the territory. Luckily, Newleaf was fast approaching, and it gave the cats lighter spirits as they chatted amicably about everything at once, and nothing at all. Cinnamon let out her own chatters, pointing Fallfoliage in the right direction for a few herbs, while Bovineleg watched a hopping frog cross in front of the patrol. (+3FP frog, +1 bindweed, +1 catmint)

As the cats take stock in their findings, a sharp sound cuts through the quiet peace of the air. The three exchange a glance, eyes widened in fear, and have little time to do much more than try and find a spot to climb away, or hide. Smokedsweets finds a nearby tree, only barely getting out of the way of the snapping jaws of the slobbering creature. Bovineleg hides low, crouching underneath a larger rock, hopefully out of the dog's bite reach. Fallfoliage, however, in unlucky in her choice - an overgrown thicket, which the dogs breaks down with its clambering and heavy paws. It doesn't seem to care that much about the cats, it's snarl set on Cinnamon. In a quick panic, Fallfoliage protects her friend with her own defense, kicking at the dog and making it yelp and turn away - but not before it did its own damage to the cat. Fallfoliage stares down at the fresh scarlet on her leg, though she counts herself lucky that Cinnamon, at least, is safe from harm. (A dog attacks the patrol! Fallfoliage loses -70% health, and will need 2 posts of rest [cannot be sent on patrol] for her injuries. If given no rest, she will lose -10% health for each post she is sent on)

The the sharp scent of Fallfoliage's injury overpowered anything else, and Bovineleg and Smokedsweets watched the dog with hisses of their own, hoping that Fallfoliage was ok. As the horrid barking faded into the horizon as the dog ran towards whatever it's next goal was, Bovineleg was the first to reach Fallfoliage to assess the damage. While bad, at least it was fixable, providing they could get her back to camp in a timely manner. Unfortunately for Smokedsweets, on their way down from their hiding spot, they snagged a back leg on the sharp point of a tree limb, cut off from what must have been a windstorm. Still, Smokedsweets kept climbing his way down, wanting to get to Fallfoliage and Bovineleg, trying to ignore the pain. (Smokedsweets receives a leg wound! -25% health; no rest needed)
