Tortoiseshell cats actually can be male, I had a tortoiseshell tom a few years ago but he was completely sterile. It's extremely rare for calico and torties to be male, but it can happen, only 1 out of every 3,000 torties and calicos turn out to be male

Yes, I know.
Being as they are so rare, we don't allow them on a regular basis. Like other health conditions and mutations.
