Fumi: Rex
Prompt:

the beasts of haeon are not for the faint of heart. most attempts at taming the tri-headed, venomous dragons deep underground end in the disappearance of the tamer.  the few titan snakes that rex has encountered in the sunken, maze-like cities never seemed interested in anything other than trying to eat him whole. he's never heard of anyone ever trying to make one a pet in haeon.

of course, there are more appropriately sized birds and fauna on the continent - two tailed squirrels, jewel toned sparrows that sound like glass chimes, or iridescent fish that inhabit most bodies of water.  he's seen someone travelling with a rose colored raccoon before.  there are also the standard house cats that inhabit haeon though they are nearly three times the size of earth's cats, brightly colored, and often adorned with two sets of small horns or spikes. rex has never owned any sort of pet, though an aunt of his did have quite the liking for house cats.  he still remembers the dozen sets of eyes glowing in the dark as he delivered her groceries each week. they were kind of terrifying in their unblinking scrutiny.

he has thought a time or two of the shade hounds found in the deepest and darkest places. they walk in shadow and hunt in the pitch black caverns.  they would be a useful pet or companion especially for one such as he. they were as tall as he was, dragging darkness with their paws and snarling with ebony teeth.  they were fine hunters, intelligent, and swift. as of yet none were used as companions when exploring the old cities but there were tales of someone on the coast taming a pair. for now, he adventures with other fumis but who knows what the future could hold. Fumi: mirage
Prompt:

mirage was raised with a plethora of pets - griffins, turtles, all manner of stray dogs, cats that looked like tumbled too long on the wash setting, pixies, and even snakes. his mother was a bleeding heart and could never say no to any 5creature in need. they rescued strays and took in those in need. it was a wonderful time. they even saved a dragonling once with scales the color of stars. his childhood was an adventure and his home a zoo.

because of this mirage has always had some type of animal companion - a rat, or a chameleon, or even a beetle at one point. life was never complete without one.  it was a strange day when he found his first sentient plant - a carnivorous flower with teeth and strong reaching vines.  apparently a local witch had mixed up her ingredients and her prized rose bush turned into a predatory rose bush. mirage had taken the feisty plant in, fed it bits of tofu - and at the cost of multiple bites - eventually befriended the beastly little thing.  he carries it in a tote everywhere he goes and named it dot - now the carnivorous plant is surprisingly tame and docile.

thats not even the tip of the iceberg of mirage's weird pets - he's since rescued a half dozen more carnivorous magical plants - all accidentally made - a keeps them in a special greenhouse.  the largest carnivorous plant - a purple and indigo hued flower called beulah - is the size of a tractor tire and likes to sing after it is fed. in fact, mirage is sure it's started a choir of cursed carnivorous plants. he hasn't been able to catch all of them singing at the same time but dot, the plant he takes everywhere, often hums the same bars as the largest cursed plant. the tune seems to be a work in progress but mirage is sure with time they will sound absolutely angellic. Fumi ;; Hoshi
Prompt ;;
- Hoshi owns thousands of carp that live inside his own personal domain, although he doesn't name them all he can individually identify them easily picking them out amongst the mass of scales and fins. He's "named" they in a way by their unique scale patterning as no two koi within his waters have the same kind of design on their body, if he calls out to one of them he'll do it by saying something unique to their body.
-These koi of his are a weak spot for him, as they are the only creatures whom never tried to hurt or abuse his companionship; they are the only things in the world he'd consider to be true friends. Therefore he's extremely protective of his large group of koi and koi in general, he assumes ownership over any of the carp he finds out in the wild ( per say ). Removing them from their previous home and rehoming them within his own personal waters where they'll never be harmed, ill, or even age.
- Although not sentient in any way Hoshi has become the most attached to his two koi halos that hover around his body. He knows they are merely an extension of his own powers/divinity but as he's aged with them and they have been one of the only constants in his life. He couldn't help but believe they are more than just glowing pieces of light. Fondly he's given them both names, the only koi in his brood to be given any specific one; their names are Tancho and Bekko ( which come from specific color variation/types in koi ).
- Unfortunately due to his divinity, many have attempted to "tame" or tether Hoshi to abuse his powers as well kindness for their own gain. There have been too many interaction for his own good in which another, especially humans have attempted to simplify his existence into their own personal pet. To just exist for their gain and enjoyment, with no freedom or choice of his own. It's these hostile interactions of his past that have made Hoshi into the being he is today, someone who looks about the world with untrusting eyes and a heavy heart.

    Fumi: Chidori
    Prompt: Chidori doesn't keep any pets beyond a beehive and potted plants as the neighbouring forest has enough wildlife to last her a lifetime. She enjoys the company of birds chirping outside her house in the morning, but not much for them flocking around the rafters. The same could be said for deer that can wander near her as she forages for ingredients. They are timid and easily spooked so imagining keeping deer in her house sounds like a terrible idea especially since they are likely happier roaming around and visiting Chidori every once in a while. She has seen humans and others keep animals to help on their farms like oxen and chickens. She may entertain the idea someday but honestly, she likes the symbiotic relationship she has with her bees.

    Since Chidori keeps a field of flowering teas, the bees helpfully pollinate the fields and gather nectar for their needs. After the busy seasons, she clears out the excess comb build up and she is able to add fresh honey into her drinks to sweeten them up. Otherwise, she finds the wax interesting and is still trying to figure out what to do with them beyond selling it. She might decide to take up a hobby like candle making at this rate. On the other hand, Chidori's "pet" plants can grow a bit out of control. One vine plant seems to like creeping everywhere and generally needs to be pruned before they decide to strangle the other potted plants. It seems like her environment is filled with verdant greens both inside and out.

    As for being viewed as a pet, in a world with humans and magic, a talking sentient animal may not turn that many heads. Fumi and other sentient beings would probably take it as a great offense. It has not happened to Chidori, but it would be a situation where she may raise a judgemental eyebrow to.
