RexPrompt:
the beasts of haeon are not for the faint of heart. most attempts at taming the tri-headed, venomous dragons deep underground end in the disappearance of the
tamer. the few titan snakes that rex has encountered in the sunken, maze-like cities never seemed interested in anything other than trying to eat him whole. he's never heard of anyone ever trying to make one a pet in haeon.
of course, there are more appropriately sized birds and fauna on the continent - two tailed squirrels, jewel toned sparrows that sound like glass chimes, or iridescent fish that inhabit most bodies of water. he's seen someone travelling with a rose colored raccoon before. there are also the standard house cats that inhabit haeon though they are nearly three times the size of earth's cats, brightly colored, and often adorned with two sets of small horns or spikes. rex has never owned any sort of pet, though an aunt of his did have quite the liking for house cats. he still remembers the dozen sets of eyes glowing in the dark as he delivered her groceries each week. they were kind of terrifying in their unblinking scrutiny.
he has thought a time or two of the shade hounds found in the deepest and darkest places. they walk in shadow and hunt in the pitch black caverns. they would be a useful pet or companion especially for one such as he. they were as tall as he was, dragging darkness with their paws and snarling with ebony teeth. they were fine hunters, intelligent, and swift. as of yet none were used as companions when exploring the old cities but there were tales of someone on the coast taming a pair. for now, he adventures with other fumis but who knows what the future could hold. miragePrompt:
mirage was raised with a plethora of pets - griffins, turtles, all manner of stray dogs, cats that looked like tumbled too long on the wash setting, pixies, and even snakes. his mother was a bleeding heart and could never say no to any 5creature in need. they rescued strays and took in those in need. it was a wonderful time. they even saved a dragonling once with scales the color of stars. his childhood was an adventure and his home a zoo.
because of this mirage has always had some type of animal companion - a rat, or a chameleon, or even a beetle at one point. life was never complete without one. it was a strange day when he found his first sentient plant - a carnivorous flower with teeth and strong reaching vines. apparently a local witch had mixed up her ingredients and her prized rose bush turned into a predatory rose bush. mirage had taken the feisty plant in, fed it bits of tofu - and at the cost of multiple bites - eventually befriended the beastly little thing. he carries it in a tote everywhere he goes and named it dot - now the carnivorous plant is surprisingly tame and docile.
thats not even the tip of the iceberg of mirage's weird pets - he's since rescued a half dozen more carnivorous magical plants - all accidentally made - a keeps them in a special greenhouse. the largest carnivorous plant - a purple and indigo hued flower called beulah - is the size of a tractor tire and likes to sing after it is fed. in fact, mirage is sure it's started a choir of cursed carnivorous plants. he hasn't been able to catch all of them singing at the same time but dot, the plant he takes everywhere, often hums the same bars as the largest cursed plant. the tune seems to be a work in progress but mirage is sure with time they will sound absolutely angellic.
