its nor given nor received by simple means.
Peering curiously at the wise old kjaku and wondering how much wisdom he had earned through his years and how much he had seen and heard since his birth. Hearing his stuttered and quiet voice, and wondering how much knowledge he had to offer, but his voice unable to comprehend the amount of stories he was willing to share. Happily listening to his stories of his childhood and stories his mother read to him and many more. Passing down his knowledge and wisdom through his wondrous stories that were long past overdue and forgotten long ago from his youth. Every so often he would stop to sip on a cold glass of water or to cough in his arm, but continued happily along with his stories and tales. Seeming his favorite, he told a story of an old friend of his, and how rumors would go around that his friend was secretly a ghost but obviously he wasn't. Saying how him and his other friends pranked him by pretending they seen a ghost, but ended up leading to the old friend not liking them. He deeply regrets this, but vows one day he will meet his long lost friend and apologies and rid his conscious of the guilt he holds so close to him from his young youth years.

I sit by the fireplace, soaking in the warmth. It's hard not to notice that the room was filled with old, dusty artifacts, there's some newer looking ones, and others just look like trash. I brush over them with my paws and pick some up, not daring to look at the older kjaku, just in case.
"You have so many of these," I say, "how did you get all of them?"
"I can tell you the tale of one or two," they chuckle.
"Can you tell me about this?" I ask while holding one, turning around.

Elio shivered in the cold, mentally cursing at losing their way once again. What were they thinking, there's no way any of the flowers could have found their way this deep in the forest. The sky grew darker by the minute and though ridiculous, Elio couldn't help but imagine how the shadows turned the treed from ethereal to dangerous; looming above and reaching out to grasp them. They would have to find shelter for the time being and soon.

Minutes later, there was a scent on the wind, something indistinguishable and almost otherworldly. They followed the scent, vaguely remembering hushed whispers about a Kjaku almost as old as time who has traveled to the ends of the earth and beyond. Many believed it to be just legend, but Elio always did have a soft spot for myths and tales of old.

As they grew near, an old house came into view. Clearly someone was home if the smoke coming from a chimney was any indication and as Elio approached, the door swung open as though their presence was expected.

"Oh, what are you doing here! It's so cold out there, kids these days and their foolish venturing. Come in!"
Elio was taken aback, marveling at the presence the other Kjaku gave off and the wisdom in his eyes. They quickly regained their composure and bowed deeply before entering.

"I can't thank you enough for allowing me into your home, I appear to have lost my way and I hope I'm not intruding."

The other Kjaku scoffed and gave a sideways smile, waving Elio inside. If the outer appearance seemed old, it didn't compare to the age of all the artifacts found inside. They were all well maintained and each was something Elio had never seen before or only seen in books. Elio was ecstatic, bounding from one shelf to the next, chattering on about random tidbits of trivia while and questioning the other on how they acquired these priceless treasures. Elio became fascinated with an orb that seemed oddly familiar for some reason, changing to whatever color they imagined. Realizing they were obviously snooping, they quickly put the orb back down and apologized profusely.

The other Kjaku seemed to settle down, chuckling at Elio's antics. They couldn't help but stare as the other Kjaku even sat poised with grace, commandeering attention but with an aura of calm. It was then that the legends of old were brought back to the forefront of Elio's mind. If he were really the one...Imagine what adventures he could tell!
"I don't mean to be rude but... I've heard stories; legends even. I can't help but to wonder, you must be the Kjaku of legend. The one who traveled to hell and back! I can't even begin to imagine what fantastical things you might have seen! I would be honored if you even had just one memory to spare."

He laughed softly. "Are you really willing to hear an elder's old, fabled tales...?"

Elio gasped, visibly eager but trying to maintain their composure. They bowed once more. "If you are willing, I would be honored to listen."

@Lloril :: "Aw man!" The stinky kjaku whispers under their breath. You thought they may have been sarcastic in their response, but the fellow does seem rather frightened by your approach! The fellow's breathing intensifies- they look right and left (nowhere to run?!) before lowering themselves and darting right BETWEEN YOUR LEGS as they notice you lose only a -pinch- of focus! WOAH WHAT! They stumble and almost lose hold over the basket, dropping 5!
The victim finally catches up to you, with little to no breath left.
"Did you catch them?! No? But they dropped some flowers of mine? I..I guess you can keep them.. I really just want that no good scum to be put in their place!" They whimper lightly, allowing you to keep the flowers. Good enough, right?! You did what you could, it still seems to have turned out well..Ish!


@Twili Imp :: The fellow appears thoughtful, though shaken after the chase. It's still evident to them that they better get out of the area before the victim themselves finds them!- In your path walking away, you found 2 that the thief must've dropped in the chase!

@T h e M a r t i a n :: What a day! That thievish fellow was definitely nothing short of infuriating, it's almost a relief that they left- more so than dropping the basket! As the victim reclaims the flowers that were stolen from them, they shout out to you-
"Hey, thank you so much for helping me out! I-I'm sorry for the trouble, I never meant to let my flowers go unguarded like that.. Please accept these as my token of appreciation!"

@ABeardedDragon :: The thief looks dumbfounded- speechless for a good length of time. They appear to be shaken, and they quickly survey the ground for anything they might've dropped that could prove to be the "ticket" out. Unfortunate for them, they find nothing of interest! They seem desperate now!
"O-officer! Don't arrest me, please- I'll-I won't steal again! I promise! I'll.. I'll do anything 'cept for goin' to jail, yeah!" The kjaku stammers with great fear. Who knows if they're really telling the truth, though.. But it definitely seems like the fellow's willing to be under your tight supervision from now on, so just.. Maybe!
(We don't know who exactly this thief may be, for criminal records just in case they go back on their word, let us know on their thread what their name+gender is!)

@Golden-Boy :: The thief laughs meekly - though it may have well been an attempt to laugh "sarcastically".
"O-Oh, you really think I'm going to trust you, yeah!? You'll just turn me in, and get my butt kicked real bad! You're really pretty convincing, I'll give you that, I believed you for a second- but I'm not gonna dive into a trap!" The fellow appears to be completely blinded by whatever past experiences they may have had, being the thief they were.. Oof.
The victim comes rushing in just as the smelly kjaku tries to slip by you- running into the thief, causing the basket to fall! The thief gets away, but this time, without any of the flowers they stole.
"Oh, goodness! T-Thank you for helping me!" The victim pants harshly in an attempt to catch their breath and regain posession over the flowers and balance. "I couldn't have gotten these precious lil' flowers back without you, please take these flowers as my thanks!" The victim shakily hands you 5! Sweet!.. It seems that the thief really had trust issues, huh.

@opossum. :: The stinky kjaku flinched back almost immediately, trying not to lose grip over the stolen flowers. First, they glare at you- then they warily mutter- "Eh, they're better off with me.. I know the area, just not this..Corner.. Hey! Leave me alone! You want me to split 'em, well here's a 'split'!" The fellow throws a small handful of flowers at your face before running off after the distraction! Y-yikes, that was rude and very uncalled for! At least the flowers are soft in nature and absolutely did not hurt, they threw 4 at you! They were probably also lying about knowing the area, who knows what other corner they'll get stuck in.. Oh well, it's probably not gonna be difficult to find this rude kjaku stuck in another corner and give em' a piece of your mind, maybe.

@Strudel :: The kjaku snickers at your offer at first, like they were told a ridiculous joke-until, they realize you really weren't joking. They hold onto the basket tightly, but they appear thoughtful for a small moment.
"Y-You'll just take the basket and go, I've seen that before, yeah! They're mine now, alright?! Y-you keep that satchel, I got a true prize here!-" The nasty fellow boasts, but their response is cut short when the victim had indeed finally caught up! Quickly, the thief makes a skillful hop right over you and knocks over the victim. But not without dropping the basket! It proves way too risky for them to turn back and get back the stolen prize now that you're there with the victim, so they run away without the basket this time!
"Oof- ouch." The victim regains their balance with a bit of difficulty. "I don't know how you got them to drop it, but thank you so much! I-I really can't thank you enough! What a rude pest, please take these for your kindness!" The victim hands you 5! Nice, guess that encounter did pay off a bit after all!

@LadyChinaAru :: The stinky fellow, or well, once-stinky fellow appears to be quite grateful! There's no denying they'll probably get themselves into more trouble and possibly get stinky again, but hey! As a token of appreciation for having them cleaned up, they handed you 3 of the flowers that they stole earlier!.. Seems like they didn't really give ALL the flowers back after all, huh. Always got a trick up their sleeve!

@Macyduke :: "B-Bath?-Er, back.. Uh, right.." It seems you've hit them where they're least confident with only one word- they can't even seem to focus on the flowers they just stole! They know nobody likes their smell, but it seems you're the first to have even implied that they need a bath in quite a bit- even though it was just a mistake between words! The kjaku puts the basket down shakily before walking off, with their hands on their head.
The victim finally catches up after the thief has left, and they're incredibly impressed!
"Oh gosh, thank you so much for helping me! Finally, my beloved flowers- I thought I'd never get them back! I'd love for you to have th- oh?" The victim notices a fooflower on the ground, it looks like the thief may have dropped that. "Well, it's all yours now! You earned it!" Awesome, the victim let you keep one southern fooflower! Let's hope that stinky fellow does take a bath, though..

"Oh, sure, yeah! Great idea, I'll totally not get ripped off by someone trying to bust me!" The stinky thief snaps, but before anything more can be said, the victim arrives- shouting at the thief like a total lunatic! Terrified, the stinky fellow drops the basket and makes a run for it right past you! Seems like that fellow's awful at trusting others..
"And stay away, you wicked vermin!" The victim makes one final shout at the thief who's now almost out of clear sight.
"I'm so so sorry you had to get caught up in my mess, thank you so much for helping me!" The victim gasps as they try to catch their breath. They hand you 4 for helping!

@_Alex_ :: The thief looks reluctant to take you up on your offer, but it looked better than nothing to them- especially that you didn't appear to be after the flowers they'd just stolen. "Y-yeah, I get that. Heh. Lead the way, buddy." The kjaku takes the path, dropping 4 along as it really isn't the "easy way"! Ah well, as this fellow would probably say, "finders keepers"!
