Norske Bjørnehunder, or Norwegian Bearhounds, are a large and stocky breed of dog from Norway. While you may think that they are used to hunt bears, that is not the case. The Bearhound is used as a guard rather than a hunter, only being named that because of their resemblance to bears. Similar to bears, each Norsk Bjørnehund has a fluffy, yet short, and thick coat. Aside from their intimidating presence, their best guard dog attribute is their loud, deep bark.
Coming in at nearly four feet with a weight of around one hundred and fifty pounds, the Norwegian Bearhound is an ideal guard dog. They're fastly loyal, and quite easy to train despite their grumpy demeanor. These dogs do well with families and children, but tend to favor one human. The thick coat of the Norwegian Bearhound can come in the many colors of a dog, but they can also have the unique coloring of bears like the black bear, sun bear, giant panda, sloth bear, and spectacled bear.

1. First, wait for an artist to open starter form slots! (You however do not have to have a starter to participate in adopts!) You cannot get your starter until your account is at least two months old and has at least 50 posts.
2. Make a post in the Co-Op Archive to claim your starter when it is completed.
3. Enter for other adopts, buy MYO's, or whatever else you want to do within the community!

To get your first Bearhound, post a starter form when an artusr has opened slots!
To get more, enter for adopts, purchase MYO tickets, breed your Bearhounds in the nursery, or win giveaways in the fanclub!

You can create whatever lore you want for your Bearhounds. You may also trade and gift them!

Sometimes, while judging adopts, artists may give out runner-ups! This is also a way to get more Bearhounds.

Once you have a Bearhound, you may wish to add, remove, or alter edits on them. You can buy Edit Items to do so in the shop, and then you must apply the edits by coloring-in the oekaki post of the Bearhound that you want to change. After doing this, you must message me or a moderator that can approve MYOs to get your edits approved. You cannot change the coats of your Bearhounds.

Non-Rarity
Accessories - Bearhounds can have any variety of human and non-human accessories.
Scars - Scars on a Bearhound.
Claws - Visible claws on a Bearhound.
Expression Edits - Changing the expression on a Bearhound.
Companions - Fantasy companions are not allowed, neither are other Norwegian Bearhounds.
Eyelashes - Eyelashes for a Bearhound.

Common
Visible Teeth - Teeth poking out of the mouths of Bearhounds.
Ear Tufts - Tufts on the ears of Bearhounds.
Minimal Fur Edits - About 20% or less of the Bearhound's fur is edited.
Tongue - A Bearhound blep!
Pupil Size - Thinner or wider pupils in a Bearhound's eyes.
Missing Limbs - A Bearhound missing a toe, leg, eye, or ear. This does NOT cover missing tails.

Uncommon
Longer Tail - A longer tail on a Bearhound.
Shorter Tail - A shorter tail on a Bearhound.
Taller Ears - Taller ears on a Bearhound.
Heterochromia - Two different colored eyes on a Bearhound, sectoral heterochromia is allowed.
Missing Tail - No tail on a Bearhound.
Medium Fur Edits - Between 20% and 60% of a Bearhound's fur edited.

Rare
Pointed Ears - Pointed ears on a Bearhound
Drop Ears - Floppy ears on a Bearhound.
Maximum Fur Edits - More than 60% of the fur on a Bearhound edited.
Blindness - A blind Bearhound.
Curled Tail - A tail that curls over the back on a Bearhound.

Legendary
Polydactyly - More than the regular amount of toes on the paws or paw of a Bearhound.
Dwarfism - A shorter Bearhound.
Somatic - Two separate base colors on a Bearhound's coat.

What do I do while I wait for my starter?
You do not need a starter to participate, so you can enter for other adopts or do other community things.

What if I don't like my starter?
If you don't like your starter, you can choose not to claim them and instead let them be re-adopted.

How do I become a staff member?
You can try out to join the staff on the staff search page, where you can enter to be a guest artist or archivist! If the rest of the staff team so decides, you may be invited to be a full artist after your guest artist term.

Can I transfer my Bearhounds out of species?
Yep! If you choose to do so, you must contact me and the designer of this Bearhound for permission, and then you must make an off-Bearhound base reference for this character. The designer may want to apply their own TOS to the design, and they are no longer bound by Bearhounds' rules. You may no longer use the Bearhound's reference for the design or use them in any Bearhounds things.
