Pretty sure CS has a thing against removing pets from old accounts. I've seen many who returned after over a decade
I have said before though that if users were given the option that should they dissapear for a decade or something and they allow the pets to be sent to the pound. like i would actually do thatEdit: sorry if what i wrote might be confusing, i wrote this when i had just woken up. Here let me say it more clearly
Basically, CS has this very strong stance that they would never remove pets from accounts or put them into the pound, unless things like a ban occoured. yes it is very unlikely and most don't return to their accounts after such extended periods of time, i agree with that. Maybe a way to solve this going foward is to give users an option that if they were to be inactive for a long period of time, they consent to having their pets placed into the pound. i personally would keep that setting on, so that my pets can be allowed to once again create the same joy that i currently feel keeping/getting them.

while it's true that even accounts left dormant for years and years do become active again sometimes, i think the email system proposed here would be a good way to make things more fair for everyone involved. i think ten years is a better amount of time, just because it gives someone more time to come back, and also pets that are ten+ years old VS five years old... i would say there's a meaningful discrepancy in general worth :^P. i feel like if someone received an email such as this, it would be easy for someone who doesn't want to lose the account, but doesn't want to become active again, to log on just the once to re-set the 'timer'. i also feel that if someone isn't using the email they signed up with, and haven't been playing for 10+ years, it's (to me) unlikely that they will notice or care (for want of more delicate wording >_>).
i think having a 'grace period' of somewhere between 1-3 months would also be good, just in case someone needs some time before they can get to handling the fate of their decade-old cs account ^_^
Add the email onto my idea, and also maybe instead of reseting a timer it can just be an option, so those that dont want to lose their pets can leave it unchecked and it stays forever.
This way, accounts that truly aren’t returning after many years could be freed up, while anyone who still cares about their pets can keep them without worrying about a timer running out.
