Create a swap thread for lower rarities

These days where C$ is king it can be really hard to find others wanting to just swap lower rarity pets if you miss the monthly trades. Advertising in your trade thread can be difficult to get traction due to how quickly the trade forum moves and many of these pets not having recognised names. Due to real life I haven’t been keeping up with missed outcomes the last few years and it took me a month of searching and advertising in my thread to tick off just 3 pages of some of the uncommons and under I’ve missed. If it’s that hard for a well established player imagine how tough it is for newer players.

I think it would be really helpful to have a trade swap thread for people looking for lower rarity (anything rare and under) pet swaps to post similarly to the monthly swap thread. If it was limited to one post per 24hrs like the C$ thread it would allow players to browse through looking for others to swap with easier.

Support! I rarely keep up with missed outcomes the month they come out despite generally wanting to collect them all. A few years ago I was trying to complete my collection of missed monthlies & event pets since I'd joined, most of which were uncommon and none of which were more than (pre-rarity-overhaul) rare, and it was so so hard to track some of them down. A seeking thread for low-rarity collectors would have been super helpful.

I have already sent in a help ticket to get approval to create a lower rarity swap thread and was told no. That there are too many pets lower in value so it would be too difficult for staff to moderate. That users could just advertise pets not VR+ on their personal trade topic.

Bummed to say the least. I at least wanted a rare swap thread :c

That seems like a strange reason not to have one. Rare and under makes up the bulk of CS pets, it makes sense to help support trading them. Hopefully if staff see support for it they’ll be willing to start one.

Support! There are so many random uncommon-EUC I am missing that are hard to focus on even though there are specific ones I want!

No support, not because it's a bad idea, but because it wouldn't be useful. OMGSC-EUC pets aren't very hard to find, and nobody really knows the names of each of these less rare pets. Therefore, the advertisements would mostly be general such as: LF Missed commons on my WL, H: Uncommons. This is something that is more productive to advertise in your trade thread, as you can keep it on page 1 by bumping it if you are actively seeking and people are more likely to see it (as opposed to your 1 advertisement that is chunked in with hundreds of more saying the same thing and eventually getting lost in the hoard). The thread that exists for VR swaps is only useful because the pets are hard to find, it wouldn't be needed if you could find these pets in 90% of the playerbases inventory.

I just don't see this not becoming a cluster of nonspecific ads. As for rares, this could be a possibility one day, but they still aren't as niche and hard to find as the ER and OMGSR swaps.

I support, I think it could be useful. If other users don't see a purpose in it they could just not use it...? I almost never trade items, so I don't use or check the items trade thread - doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. I know I personally have a lot of trades I would want to post on lower rarity swap thread.


ETA: i have a lot of RARE pets I really want to swap as well - they can't be posted on the current thread since it is only for VR+

I very much envision this thread, much like how the VR+ swap thread is intended to work, being one where you would post when you were trying to swap for very specific pets — so less "swapping my trade group for UC pets I've missed" and more "I am looking for this very specific EUC event pet I missed two years ago that's been impossible to find even though it's only EUC." I agree that a thread that was just for posting generic trade ads would be unnecessary and rapidly devolve into being far too bloated to be useful, but a place where you could post an ad about looking for a specific random outcome would certainly be one that I would use.

support! some pets are really elusive and i think that'd be helpful. the munchkin cats personally were hard to come across because of their demand. manually sifting through threads is time consuming and i would love to just pop an ad that won't be buried in 5 seconds

but i also worry how it might work in practice due to the sheer amount of omgsc-rares. if lower rarity can be narrowed down maybe that will help. i don't wanna say "only euc and rare " since that defeats your original point, but how about a yearly swap thread for all monthly or event pets? or it can be capped by a range of years (2010-2015 swaps)? something of the sort

I already sent in a help ticket for a lower rarity (rares) swap thread. I even mentioned having a year range.

Hi! Sorry, but we don't see the need for a rares swap thread. The very rares/OMGSRs swap thread exists because there is a limited number of those pets, but there are a high number of rares in the game. Having extra qualifiers such as date or demand will inevitably make the thread too complicated to post on. Thanks for the suggestion, but we'd recommend using a personal trade thread for seeking swaps like this.

I'm with you that I think a range of years would be useful! Aaron is of the opinion "extra qualifiers" will make the the thread "too complicated" to post on.

I am sharing my help ticket response in case it is useful. Since I sent in the request, I do want at least a rare swap thread. I just don't think it will happen since my request was denied.
