one last thing i forgot to mention earlier!

cs already holds giveaways on the instagram! while i think starting the giveaways on ig only works well for bringing in people to the socials, i think it would be beneficial to move these giveaways to the main site! the giveaways would be much more accessible to different players if they were just held here and would help bring in groups of players more often!

I hope Nick is getting a good income from this. If not I'd suggest we have a fund-raiser of sorts to support him in all his efforts working completely alone all these years.

This was something that was brought up in the thread I've linked a few times here. It's almost as if Tess has disappeared. Nick, I know, works behind the scenes and is the site's ONLY coder (poor guy). x.x

is Nick really the only coder? I wonder if there ever has been a suggestion to have staff coders (volunteers?).

He is the only one

ah wow i see...i wonder if the issue is the user-sensitive information of having someone else who's a coder onboard to help out. but i know i would voluntarily give time to help for things like improving qol features.

I agree, that's so much work for one person I feel really bad that he has to do it all himself :(

Malleus wrote:I'm with everyone that said 'bring back the rares list'. It was simple. It was easy to understand. It helped me understand pet value in the first place based on something more concrete than just 'a lot of people like it'.

I have to come back and disagree with this as gently as I possibly can. I'm gonna quote a post i left here on the thread a little earlier:

Loelya wrote:hey though, I really want to speak to the fact that the way trading worked "before" the non and MA system also made no sense. genuinely the way pet value was calculated and added up was impossible to understand unless you had a deep understanding of every single pet's demand within the larger trading economy. I would argue the non/MA system makes *more* sense than the old "list," since "non" is a defined term the way a dollar is, and "MA" is a smaller fraction of that defined term, the way a dime is. adding up numbers is a lot less confusing than saying "well, an evil pps + a balloon dog = a toxic, but a balloon dog + a lolita = a coontail"

I know those values are likely inaccurate anyways (I struggled deeply with trying to learn the old system) do you see how that kind of "trading" information would be completely indecipherable to a new player? and how you can't ever figure out what those kinds of things mean until you have an internal perspective & memory for every single pet's value?

conversely, saying a non = 100 rares and an MA is worth 1/10th of that - sure, it can still be confusing if you don't know where those terms came from, but "non" and "MA" can still be defined in a concrete, countable way.

I've been here for a while and it is sad to see so few people on anymore! I love those who are here deeply, I feel like the community is very strong. I lurk most of the time nowadays, posting mainly in two or three forum games and my own little trading thread, but I just have to step in and say how much I love that this conversation is happening <333 yall are doing great :]

Been playing for years, don't have any strong feelings in general as I'm a grown woman who just likes to collect things.

Personally, I'd love to be able to sort my pets by rarity when I'm looking at them-- just, y'know, would make life easier in general.

My initial response doesn't seem to have been seen or responded to by anyone so I'm going to say this part of it again and add on a little; I would love to hear anyone else's thoughts on this, as I've not heard much about the Oekaki forums here.

I've thought about quitting and donating all my pets simply because I'm not very active anymore aside from adopting every month, but I think the worst change for me personally was when they changed the Oekaki boards. Most of my artwork (realistic animal work) was in Advanced or Intermediate, based on skill level, and now it's all lumped together with thousands of other animal artwork. Look, I can sort of understand it "hurting feelings" to have things moved around if something didn't fit a certain skill level, but now "Animals/Creatures" is too generalized and the forum itself has been pretty dull/slow since the change, honestly, so I've not even been much inclined to make new artwork here since the change. Who would see it, anyway? If the huge topics could at least be further divided into Realism/Cartoon that would probably help a bit.

I feel like the really amazing photo-realistic artwork (not even my own, but others' work) isn't seen anymore and I never even see it featured on the front page. I miss the extremely talented realism artists like Panacea, Oofay, and Sakarilynx, who have all dropped off the site now but surely there are others like them that aren't very visible anymore.

Since the rares lists is being brought up again, here was my comment on that as well
I also actually liked the rares lists; to me they made it easier to trade and get the higher value/more sought after pets. Now the rarities are more obscure to me and no one really has anything to base their value on, I guess? Idk. I miss it. I don't trade much anymore. I've found my goal of owning one of every pet here (I don't have any hoards, personally, but I don't really mind them) to be very unrealistic at this point.
lights off

Sorting pets the way we want to whether it be manually, by rarity or by dates I think would help solve a lot of problems over the board for a lot of people.
