[urgent] this site really is actually dying

This time seems to be when there’s the least activity on the site, people start coming back around December and then just stay for a few months, then probably forget about the site for a while, repeat cycle. But since I’m quite new still I don’t have any actual factual evidence of this, it’s just a theory based on what I’ve heard from others.

Like others have said, I think adding maybe some more community activities could help out with the “attendance problem”. And maybe some more mini events, like Pirate Day or Pizza Day could be helpful too?

[ Seems Like Tess Had The Rock Made for a friend that never joined CS, so instead they Put It in The Pound where It was Adopted by chia who Later on Traded/gifted It to their friend who is The current owner.

Theres are a Lot of niche Things Happening on CS that you Need to dig for, except my brain totally forgets about Them until someone else mentions them. ]


Regarding Forum Activity, while yes There are multiple actions that can be taken to try and make It flourish, with a few really good ideas having been memtioned in previous posts, i think we also Need to Accept that it simply wont be The Same as " Back Then " .
10 years ago ( uff) Websites, mobile Apps & Computer Games werent as widespread & accesable as they are today.
Nowadays you have a Lot more Options for interacting with other people Sharing your own interests.

{I haven't read any current comments, just throwing my thoughts in here, but the fact that people including staff members are all active on a CS Discord rather than the actual website is killing CS faster than anything. The Discord excludes people who are too young to have the app [you must be 13+ to have Discord], it excludes people who are easily overwhelmed by large, busy servers, it excludes people who simply do not or cannot have Discord for whatever reason. I barely touched the site during September because every time I looked into the staff discussion thread [the only reason I would've been online in September], everyone was fighting about the Discord. It's depressing and made me stay away from the site all month except to check growths myself.}
{I've seen a lot of people complaining that CS isn't active, that you can't get answers for things like the pet value threads, and the answer is right there. Instead of talking on CS forums, where activity shows, people are excluding portions of the userbase by using a completely different website for things that belong on CS. This website can't be active while everyone talks somewhere else. And as someone who absolutely can't handle massive active Discord servers, it's really disheartening to be left out of everything now. It makes me not want to be on CS at all.}

I am with you iHolli. We are both oldies and remember how filled out the forums used to be. To us, CS dying is the community as we know it dwindling away. We go to places we've always been and instead of a discourse on CS there is a link to Discord. I also don't have love for Discord since it moves so quickly and the notification system gives me major anxiety. You should look back and read my post you'll see how much our sentiments echo each other.

That said, I hear Hades. I have heard from other users that if it wasn't for Discord they wouldn't be on CS. I guess if all users were left with was the forums (say Discord was banned) and everyone just up and left well I don't want that.

So in saving CS love it or leave it Discord won't be going anywhere. The staff won't be banning it and it's the platform people like to chat/trade etc. I think the key is why Discord users and oldies alike stay here, the pets and possibly the oekaki community. We need something new that hypes up the pets/items. I want the physical merch store to come back but some of these other users had great ideas too like more store items and retiring what has been there for ages!

to be completely honest i don’t think the discord servers have anything to do with the dying of this site. honestly, i think it helps, because most people use discord nowadays anyway, and it’s still the same community whether it’s on CS or discord, so i don’t really see how it could be contributing to slowing the website down. in fact, i think it’s better for the community to have a discord. it makes communication a million times easier, especially when back-and-forth conversations on forums are generally regarded as spam. like said above, you don’t have to use the discord— nobody’s making you— but to say it’s a major contributor towards the death of the site simply isn’t true.

in terms of mini-games and stuff, i personally don't want it to turn out like Wajas, where it was jam-packed with so many things (breeding, games, etc), i didn't understand it at all (even now, i forgot how forums worked/never learned), but if its not a required thing, then yeah, go for it!

haven’t checked the site in a few weeks bc i’ve been busy with course work, so i thought i’d mention on this thread that lots of other users might be on the same boat ^_^ as in, not keeping up with the site bc of other commitments.

also bringing up my mini-item event idea again bc i just think it’s neat :^) week long little handfuls of items available through banners or something would be nice.

I have been here for quite a while, and definitely taken a few breaks, but that’s also cause I have things I’ve been trying to collect or do and I never seem to make any progress. I’m all for hoards and such, but to an extent, I don’t like overpaying for stuff simply cause then I’d have nothing to trade with. There are collections I’m still trying to complete but no one is ever really willing to trade fairly for some of these “high value” pets. And yeah, I love this site, but it’s all code and it feels like people are placing real value on this stuff… like, I have been trying to complete staff pets and general helper pet collections but people want ridiculous stuff for what’s basically a line of code for a really cute dog or cat…
