Oekaki/ art fourms revamp suggestions!

here is a popular suggestion that has been noticed by mods:

i'll again bring up a suggestion of my own.

overhaul the off-oekaki board and make it the same structure as the oekaki ones.
let us upload our own art and have it in a gallery style format! maybe let us crosspost so we can add entries to c4cs and myos!
right now, the off-oekaki board is a graveyard that gets no attention simply because the format for art is so bad.
all i want at this point is a compromise, and i feel like this would be a great way to fix the issue. i feel it wouldn't be harder to moderate, as we can already upload our own images with bbcode, only this would be so much neater and easier to use.

my suggestion is in the rules itself: provide visual examples in the rules of what is considered acceptable and what is considered unacceptable. ideally this would only apply to rules that aren't as cut and dry rather than things similar to the obvious no-explicit-content rules.

I agree with these two things and I think it would help people, both new and old, understand and support the rules better.

i agree, there should definitely be image clarification in the rules. it would prevent another situation like what happened, i hope

Hopping in and just saying that Oekaki needs a huuuuuge update. I compared it to FireAlpaca on my own time, and I’m not sure if other users go through this, but on my ChickenPaint for some reason the copy/paste option doesn’t work? (I’m not sure how to put it into words but it’s exactly how it sounds, and on FireAlpaca it helps A LOT for me trying to make things look neater/as symmetrical as I can get)

But agree that it’s such a pain to use, and I can fully agree as someone who occasionally draws (albeit not very good) it’s a big turn away.

to expand on this suggestion, maybe a follow feature could also be implented in the off-oekaki forums?
if the format is changed to fit the oekaki boards, then it makes sense, though the doability is dependent on whether Nick wants to code it or not

I agree that Oekaki needs a huge update, although I'm admittedly a little nervous about it getting one. I've only relatively recently figure out how to use oekaki to get art that I'm.. not happy with but satisfied with, I guess. I'm just nervous about having to re-learn it.

I work on a trackpad, which probably doesn't help anything, but I've never gotten pen pressure on oekaki (which pen pressure might not exist on track pads? idk) so I have to fake pen pressure by selectively erasing part of the line. That takes time. It effectively triples the amount of time I take to draw things. I spent 2 1/2 to 3 hours on a fairly simple fullbody recently. I would link but the chara isn't mine. The timer says smth different, but I was distracted a couple times.

Also, copy/paste works if I go through the menus, but the keyboard shortcuts rarely work. Also oekaki glitches for me on any browser but google chrome.

Edit: I've been informed that pen pressure doesn't exist on a trackpad, no matter the program. ty!
