I wouldn't want my pets and account deleted if I were to pass on.

Plus users deserve to get their current monthly outcomes without a hassle if they are more casual players. I would rather see old pets get randomly sprinkled in monthly adopts like the zebras are.

This, I prefer special releases rather than an outcome! Like how malk had dragons, the zebras in the horses... It would make both sides happy

what if, since you mentioned special releases, could these monthly (and when i said monthly, i do not mean every month! i just mean every once in a while!) valuables be counted as special releases like the december 18th urs are? it would be fun to have more opportunities to get special release pets than just december 18th as well, and it would still bring in more traction and more new valuable pets without disrupting people who want to casually complete monthly collections! they could still be designed to fit the litter they're from, but just won't count with the monthly outcomes of the litter!

I LOVE this. It's like a bonus feature in a way! Plus it would be a cool opportunity for a scrapped outcome design to still be used.

Heck depending on the price that could be worth rent for like 2-6 months. Do people not realize that????????

$2,000 real life dollars for a digital picture could almost qualify chicken smoothie pets as NFT (Non-fungible token).

That's not cool.

Exactly my thoughts… NFTs without the cryptobros

as a not very active player... this made me so sad! how is anyone supposed to "climb the ranks" like this? not to mention that as a casual player the rarity system that players have invented just seems absolutely convoluted.. like, what do you mean 11 very rares can be equal to just 1 very rare just because that one very rare has some red flowers on its tail? I don't think I will ever understand

Nudging in to remind you guys that the list I mainly see going around (Horror's) is primarily based on observable rarity, i.e. when pets went from rare to very rare/very rare to omgsr. There is a separate demand section (based on recent trade data for those pets) but the main bulk of the list is about rarity. No one should feel forced to learn the list and people should be allowed to freely trade off it, but I feel like there's pretty big misinformation being circulated about how it operates.

I was here when the old list (unarguably more biased and skewed by demand) was in place, then the chaos period where no lists were active - I'd argue the current list actually makes trading manageable for me because it gives me a framework to go off of when valuing my pets. These kind of systems are kind of inherent to any game with an economy (whether we like it or not) and with staff refusing to release numbers of active pets on the site this is the closest we can get to predicting raw rarity values.

completely agree with all of this. it's a shame that everything is so convoluted but I also feel like things have improved/gotten more manageable, even if only slightly, by the revamping of most major trading guides to move away from the old arbitrary "list" system from up until 2019.

Honestly I think it opened pandora's box when we became allowed to directly trade C$ with other users. This was not always a function of the site. People just traded their pets for each other. Did trade ups and trade downs. Not many numbers involved and certainly not ones that shifted as much as C$ does. C$ can be generated through purchases at a different rate than pets can be adopted at, and so the equivalencies will always change. There is no way to stop it. Users shifting towards the C$ trading for pets has been a disaster and I think there is no going back. Its doomed. Everything is C$.

One thing that can ease the burden however is if people got less picky with trades. More willing to trade up and down if YOU like the pets. Just because someone else says, no, it wasn't "fair" by some stupid meaningless amount doesn't mean that you should always slam the brakes. Pets would flow more and things would even out if "unfair" trading happened. You'd make some trades that were in your favor, and they'd even out with ones that weren't. But if everyone keeps having such a tight grip on their TRADE groups its like a traffic jam. No one gets anywhere.

One of the easiest things that we as users can do, is stop demanding wishlist pets only when trading. Let other people send FAIR trades that literally do not effect the value of your trade groups and benefit them. It doesn't hurt you for your trade groups to have different pets of the same value. It makes pets flow. It makes trading better. It gets pets out of the collective site's "for trade" groups and into collections. It makes people feel like trading is actually worth it.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could go to anyone's trade group and do a litter swap for some common outcome that you missed for the extra one you got without having to find someone who is in the EXACT opposite situation?

And when you get all the outcomes of a litter, what are you doing with all those extras? While you demand wishlist only, but you have nothing on your wishlist that are the same value?

Complete unrelated to trading, one of the reasons I was feeling unwelcomed by staff is one of them straight told me my topic in GENERAL was somehow off topic, and that it was basically boring and wouldn't generate conversation.

What was it? I was studying the fandom culture side of things, a huge part of this site IS infact it's fandom culture. But studying and recording earliest known mentions of certain fandoms and other popular sites is apparently boring and not interesting to generate conversation.
I'm quit Chickensmoothie, I have given my pets away to a friend. Thanks for the memories everyone!

I disagree with this, in terms of rare+ pets.

I never would have wanted to trade my rare pets for rare pets that were not on my wishlist, because then I would just never get anywhere and be completely stagnant in my collections. If I have pets of value I am okay with trading, then I certainly only want to get pets of value in return that I actually want, otherwise I'd just be in an endless loop of getting nowhere. And I have rarely, if ever, come into situations where rare+ pets outside of events were ever asked for in terms of something like a litter swap.

Now for anything uncommon and below, I can see your point in a sense, but still if I was only looking for one outcome from a monthly litter, I would only offer my doubles for my missing outcome until I achieved it, because again, I would never get anywhere in my collection if I was just doing a bunch of litter swaps and never achieving what I needed. Once I have all the outcomes, then yeah there's no point wishlist locking random trade uncommons and below.

That is what I did for the camping event. Mostly only swap for outcomes I was missing, then posted 'hey I'm offering litter swaps to anyone who needs them, go nuts' into the swap thread once I completed my collection. This to me, seems 100% reasonable.

But still, I don't think it's anything to get angry at users about, because there are plenty of reasons to only want wishlist pets.

I just want to say that I do not know which topic specifically you are talking about so I can't speak to that instance, but we do sometimes lock topics in the general discussion board because they aren't discussion threads. If the topic is set up like a journal or otherwise doesn't seem open to other user's posting, its probably not going to belong there because that board is a discussion board and topics should be open to discussion. I've never seen a moderator call someone's topic 'boring' but I have seen plenty of thread locked for not being discussion threads, there is a difference. As long as the thread is open for discussion and not spam its probably fine ^^

It’s based on how rare they are, not the design they have. You may not like it 11 times as much, but the rarity-based trading is so that everyone can agree on the value. This might be an unpopular opinion, but it’s totally valid that a pet could be worth $2000. No one is asking somebody to actually pay that much to get a pet, and the site also isn’t obligated to allow every single pet to be able to be gotten by players. Nowhere on the site does it say “you should aim for a complete collection including this high C$ pet”. And if someone really does spend $2000 on a pet, then obviously it was worth that much to them.

Now I do think there should be options to make trading and collecting more vibrant. For example, more rereleases, either sprinkled in regular adopts or happening year-round. There could be tiered collection completeness levels that people could aim for, not just “complete collection,” so people could get a completionist-type achievement without having the most extreme rarest pets. There are already ones for species, but there could be categories like “Collection Level Diamond: all rares and below and at least X different very rares”.
