Well, we might never know because they're just never around, unless some trade reversals are happening anyway.
If there aren't enough pets in circulation either because of hoarding or inactive dead accounts, then something needs to be done to make sure that the trading scene doesn't stagnate any more than it has.

There is a way to see the rarity breakdown, although I'm not sure how to find it at the moment. The ratios are something like 5 uncommons to a rare, 25 rares to a very rare, so on and so forth. That's how those pets are distributed, more or less. However, the demand of pets is determined by CS users. The staff cannot help what users personally find more valuable and how they trade.
If I can find out how, I'll quote this and add this info on.

There were store pet releases during the first few years of the Dec. 18th tradition, but they stopped. Store pets are considered to be bonus pets outside of the normal collection, which is why I think they aren't gonna re-release them.

while i do agree, should there not be some sort of central log (such as the list) to keep track of it? if one is to own a pet website with rarities of pets decided by the users, there should be something that makes it much more understandable to new players

additionally, rarities themself don’t matter in so many situations (like how a sunjewel is one of the most sought after and best pets on the site while say the ur s’more couldn’t even compare to that value) and the fact that the list is discontinued just adds to the confusion

And while this is good to have, the fact that users are even able to do this type of thing is a problem in and of itself. Personally, I think pets should have an official set value that should act as a guide for people, especially new users. We sort of have that now, but once again, it is so confusing and hard to understand and even when you can decipher it, the value is so insane you may as well just give up hope of ever getting certain pets. I think we need a better currency system for one thing, that can value pets in an easy, and understandable way. But unfortunately, we just don't have that. Of course, everyone is going to add their own personal values to things and that's ok. But if someone seems to be way overvaluing a pet, people that are trading with them should have a guide that tells them if the person is doing that so they can have a better idea what to do.

-if i’m not wrong, we did have a list for quite some time. but players demands changed so much over time as well as the fluctuating amount of players along with complications, so it was scrapped. i’m not 1000% it was official or not, but i know a lot of people used it.

along with the december 18th discussion, i agree that maybe we should have more than one a year? so that players have access to one if they can’t make the other or even just to help newer players start up the rares they have. but i don’t think we should bring back old store pets. a lot of players like myself worked hard and took a lot of time and determination into finding and obtaining the pets we love, so i feel like the possibility of other people simply gaining them from the event would be a little disheartening. maybe we could do site wide raffles that older players like myself or people who don’t find themselves playing much anymore could donate to, so that these pets could be given out? i’m not sure just thinking:^)

I don't know why we are so hung up on rereleasing old pets more, when the staff could easily add more VR/omgsr pets to monthly adopts...

I mentioned it earlier and I'll mention the idea again: the hype around the may/June lionesses were huge. The August pps was huge. The rainbowmane was huge when it came out too. Zebras are released at random when you adopt horses. The same used to happen when you adopted malk pets back in the day -- a random chance to adopt a dragon.

These VR/omgsr releases drop major value into the community at random, giving a chance for newer members to get valuable pets. It forces old users to circulate their older pets for the cool new monthly releases too.

We don't need to uproot the cs economy by rereleasing old pets more, or releasing old store pets again. We need CS to give value to accounts without us having to pay for it. The only pets that are released with value today are store pets. I don't think enough people are angry about that. I am. I don't think newer users should have to drop money to play this game. I never had to and I don't think that's fair.

This!
I feel like the main root of SO many issues that people have with CS in general links back to the inactivity/unavailability of Tess and Nick. Even though they've said there wont be another re-release, why is that?
Is there a genuine reason?
Well, we might never know because they're just never around, unless some trade reversals are happening anyway.
If there aren't enough pets in circulation either because of hoarding or inactive dead accounts, then something needs to be done to make sure that the trading scene doesn't stagnate any more than it has.

To me, think about it like this:
"Hello I'm a new user!"
"Hello new user! This is a pet collecting site! Go collect them!"
"Oh boy, I want that one-"
"Sorry that one is so rare you'll never get it. Don't even try."
"Oh...how bout thAt one-"
"Too rare. Costs over $300 USD."
"But I can't do that..."
"There are other pets! Collect the rest!"
"But I don't have any rare pets to trade for old rares..."
"You have December 18th!"
"But that's only 3 pets...and one day a year..."
"Have fun!"

Like...for us older players we know how it works, but hOw will any new player get footing at all unless they're gifted pets? And where's the fun in that if thats your only source of pet income? How is anyone expected to get anything of worth with only one day a *year*, and nothing else but pound chaos and lucky gifts?

(And this thread has already covered the issues with the pound and why it needs revamped as well)

Edit:
