Suggestion, re-arange pets in their groups (Updated 2022!)

Thank you for everyone's continued support through the years! I'm hoping to show Tess and the site admin that this suggestion is still going strong in 2022. I wonder if this feature would belong under the preexisting "Change Pet Display Settings" where you then get the option to check "Show pet rarities as text labels instead of image bars" & "Show pet rarities under pets when viewing pet groups".

Maybe this feature would be another checkbox(es) where you can select along the lines of:
- "Show pets in ID order when viewing pet groups"
- "Show pets by name (alphabetical order) when viewing pet groups"
- "Show pets in archive order when viewing pet groups"
- "Show pets by rarity when viewing pet groups"

This option would, of course, apply for every single group and not individual groups (plus it would alter how you see other people's pets in their trades, I believe, going purely by the logic that's in place for the preexisting features...please tell me if that's a wrong assumption & you'd be able to code it in such a way that you can view how other users sort their groups), but I think this would be easier coding-wise to achieve. We can already sort groups in alphabetical order, so extending that logic to the pets shouldn't be too big of an ask.

If one option is checked, then the other options should be greyed out so you can't select multiple choices that would conflict with each other. Showing pets by rarity & by name (and ID & rarity, and ID and name) at the same time should be possible, but not any other combination.

An aside:
It seems like the biggest hurdle would be implementing the "show pets in archive order" feature, as I don't believe there's currently any logic in place that links the archive in a meaningful way to individual pets. It might require adding some kind of designation number to each image URL (assuming that even though there are thousands of individual pink sorbs, there's only one image URL that's shared in common between all of them) and doing some kind of if: yes sort by archive order, then: use img URL designation # in pet groups.

DISCLAIMER: I know nothing about how this site is coded, nor do I know anything about coding. My current day job involves testing new code logic, though.

As someone who is currently dying from reorganizing more than 5k pets... yes please x.x
I would die for any site feature that would make sorting pets even a fraction easier.
90% of my organizing is separating pets by species first, and it's a daunting task since I have around 250 pages of pets to go through.
I truly hope this feature gets added eventually.

I never did finish organizing my pets, the current lack of options for sorting makes it basically impossible for me to be happy with how they're arranged. I've tried just separating them all into new groups by theme or by species and no matter what I just give up and go back to turning blue holding my breath waiting for some kind of site update that lets me sort my pets the way I'd like.
As for the update on this thread and the options listed, the sort by name option is 11/10 in my opinion and would solve all my problems.
I'm probably just a little extra, but I'd really like to be able to put certain pets with each other, for example, pps and their grown versions. It'd also take away the burden of not being sure if I want a certain pet by being able to place it near ones that look similar rather than trying to track them down and compare them etc. I feel like hundreds of pets out of the thousands I have I probably don't want/need and could trade/gift them but there's just SO many SO spaced apart I can't keep up with it all. But with a sort by name option, I could just name the ones I'm comparing Z or something to view them all together to make up my mind, and for ones I'm actually keeping it would be incredible to actually have them arranged nicely.
Just wanted to show my support again and make it known there are some users actively hoping this can be implemented. I don't mean to come off as impatient or ungrateful or anything of the sort either <3 I appreciate everything that goes into this site, but after so many years of collecting pets, I really need some way to arrange them Please end my suffering and make this a new site feature.

I'd love a mixed sorting option where the archive will prioritise, for example, name order, but if it encounters the same name, it will reach for ID order next. This way, if its just readjusting 1-2 pets from the same litter by naming them numerically, you won't have to keep constant count and go into the hundreds...? Probably not that realistic to program tho.

Also, an option for names to be hidden (if I have to sort them with numerical numbers I'd rather not see them lol), and for the naming and sorting options to be set by folder rather than the entire account, unlike the view rarities option we have now (which I'd also love if it became folder-specific, I only really want to see the rarities of the pets in my trade folders)

Massive support.

Not being able to rearrange pets has created some consequences for CS as a game, and some that are very predatory. For example, only sorting by pet ID makes users look for and demand pets that are right on or near rollover. This creates a habit of users logging on only to adopt for fear that they'll somehow devalue their pets just by waiting a few more hours after rollover. Additionally, it creates distinction between true dates and rereleases when rereleases were intended to patch the gap between unobtainable and possibility.

Also, it just allows a lot more freedom! Please, CS, I really want to be able to put my pets by species and litter and order together, like the Twelve Days of Christmas otters!
