Oof, hard agree there. If it means people’s accounts are better protected and we stop having our trades reversed, I would more than happily sacrifice a day or two of playtime.

Support for temporary closure of adoption thread. I also agree with shutting down for maintenance and implementing new security measures.

I don't think closing down the topic is enough; many of the reversed trades today were seemingly random gifts. I support temporary shutdown of one-sided trades, maybe all trades, until the security breach is identified and/or addressed. Support also the site temporarily going down for maintenance if necessary.

Agreed; instead of temporarily shutting down one-sided trades, either locking the board would work, or temporary maintenance (like skylark suggested) would be great. I don't know how long implementation/updates for site security would take, but surely a couple days would be worth it for the safety of user accounts.
Instead of restricting one-sided trades entirely, I just suggest that everyone be wary of incoming gifts or adoption centers they're about to take from. Maybe inspect the account you're trading with for a bit, and make sure you have a strong password. If anyone feels the need to send a gift at this time, it's best to wait until CS staff gets security sorted so everyone can be put at ease and not have to be wary of a gift you're sending.

Isn't the summer event soon? They should really be locking the whole site down before things get worse. It could ruin the whole event
