I'm afraid you'll have to post that as its own suggestion or find a thread that's already suggesting this and voice your support over there.

This thread is only for talking about opinions about admins providing feedback and things closely related, sorry!

There's what? Uh, no. There's maybe. MAYBE two new real suggestions a month if you want to be super stretchy. Everything else is either a repeat or something that just isn't going to happen because it's not a good suggestion. (See: game breaking imbalance)
I can go through the first two pages with you if you want but all of these suggestions are old. super old. Yeah, of course people aren't satisfied when a general helper responds. You're just another player as far as this sub board is concerned, just like mods. If you're wondering why mods haven't chimed in ever it's because of my previous post. Players see it and think because it's a green name that they can do something about it, that they have some hand in the site's development so even if they do have input, they generally stay quiet so as not to confuse other players or preface the entire post with "As a regular player...".

When's the last time Tess replied to any of them even if it was a no? Feb of 2013.
2013.
Which was on a post with 54 pages of support and discussion from 2011.

The one before that was to say that she didn't think displaying a clock was useful at all in October of 2012.

Okay, with that in mind, how many of you are feeling abandoned and how many of you feel that the current updates are ok?
Yeah, I thought so.

No one is asking for someone to keep up with and reply to hundreds of posts a month. How about just reply to a few?
We're talking about a no show for almost a decade. As I said on the other thread, a site is only alive and healthy when the leader is around and makes regular updates.

The color change option was suggested 2013 and takes literal seconds to do. Same with the clock update.
So send your suggestions in now if you want them in the game by 2028! :/

Hundreds was an exaggeration I admit.
Suggestions that are repeats still need a response. That still takes time. (As I imagine you know: lots of it.)

Shian wrote:As for the "current" updates, I don't even consider the C$ store tag as a real update. It was more of an emergency update because of how easy it is to scam someone.

I'm sorry that you don't consider that a real update, but editing over 200 pet images isn't quick. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to share but, again, I personally offered a hand in helping with that. In the end I did not do any editing. That means that that editing was, presumably, done in place of other coding work. I don't do the coding work, but I imagine each event (and other upkeep) takes some amount of it. We only have one coder.

Then there is nothing I can say to help. I sent up some suggestions that I liked, and some were implemented. I myself do not know if my sending them had any affect on the situation. There's nothing more I can do. To speak plainly, I don't know how much anyone who actively reads this board can do. All I can say is that I suggest you use the ticket system.

I just want to give my opinion. I do agree that it would be nice to see some more updates, but the coding for some of these things are major combined with current bug fixes. Nick is the one that tends to do the coding and fix bugs around the site. A lot of these issues can take a long time to fix especially when users do not send in help tickets regarding the issue. However, these bugs do tend to get fixed in most situations though it can take some time. There is a lot that goes behind the scenes and please also keep in mind that admins also have real life too. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean that nothing is being done.

I was super excited when the Lost and Found was created. Items are even trickier to do coding with because they do not have individual ID's like pets do. Instead all of the exact same item have the same ID number, hence the coding for the lost and found took a very long time. I'm sure there that there are features that are being coded, but it just takes time plus you also have to run to code and test it to make sure that there isn't bugs before even releasing the product.

just want to say i appreciate rockruff's replies on this thread. at least someone is responding to these concerns, right?
Shian, it's obvious you care about this site, but your over-enthuasistic attitude comes off as nearly rude

the site is heavily outdated. the suggestions forum is practically almost just a courtesy at this point, and i don't think a single suggestion has been implemented since 2014?? yeah the following option in oekaki boards was nice, but we STILL don't have a simple ping system, something every single other forum has.
however, i don't think criticism is going to change anything

anyways, this thread is definitely going down the gutter for "mod-bashing", which sucks

Thank you, Shian, you said everything I wanted to say but didn't know how to formulate.

rockruff wrote:Hundreds was an exaggeration I admit.
Suggestions that are repeats still need a response. That still takes time. (As I imagine you know: lots of it.)

Aren't mods doing that already? As far as I know they check the suggestions and lock any that are double with a reference to the older thread with the same suggestion.
Admins would only need to reply to the unique ones, like, for example the masterlist of active and popular requests. That would help a lot and it's only 20 suggestions or so. Hell, it would be enough if they only replied to suggestions with over ten pages of suggestion, even. I agree every single one would be a bit much to ask.

Use the ticket system to submit a suggestion? I'm willing to bet half of my pets that the answer I'd receive would be "We have a suggestion forum, post over there."
But it is amazing to know that helpers can spread the word up there about good suggestions. That's infinitely more than I thought was happening.

Thank you for your opinion. I know Nick is our only coder and he's probably very busy.
I think it's important to stress again that this isn't necessarily a thread calling for more updates. My main point is the lack of feedback and communication. The problem is that the players feel ignored.
Even if there's no time for updates big or small right now, all I'm asking for with this thread is some feedback like "We like the idea, maybe we'll implement it in the future" or "We'll think about that" or "Unfortunately we see no way to realize this suggestion" so we don't feel like screaming into the void when posting a suggestion.

I very muchly appreciate the helpers chiming in, too! They have a bit more insight than we normal players do and can see things more from the staff's perspective, which is super constructive.

I very much hope that this thread opens the admins eyes a bit. That is to say, if they actually do check this forum from time to time, which I believe they do. Maybe this thread can make them see that the players are disappointed.

Because of that, it's super important for everyone to stay diplomatic. There's a lot of amazing discussion in here and I wouldn't want the thread to get locked when we have so many people voicing their opinions.

For me, at least, this is the whole point of the matter. More frequent updates may not be feasible with the resources CS has (literally just Nick, apparently). Fine, I like the site as it is and am happy with the occasional new shiny thing. But we users don't see anything happening, at all. If there were some more clarity on who reads suggestions, what is done about them, or even just that you can apparently submit a ticket, that would be a huge improvement. Just let us know you're there and listening.

I have absolutely loved the recent updates but I feel like, as a player, we're in the dark over things. It's not like the admins don't care. If they didn't, the site would just stop. No more pets, no more items, no events.

I think what the OP is trying to get across is that we need at least some communication. The Site News on the home page would be a great place for them. Even just fixing a small bug would be nice to know about.

Exactly! In another game I play we get weekly updates about the tiniest bugs that have been fixed.
While maybe that is a bit too much or not worth in for a less complex and update heavy site like chicken smoothie, I'm sure everyone would appreciate even the tiniest update every few months just stating what bugs have been squashed and what is being tackled next, just so everyone can feel a bit more involved.
