Ignore/Soft Block/Trade Notes/etc?

So I've been thinking about this suggestion since I came back to CS and the people I've talked to about it have agreed. I can't think of one universal way to accomplish the goal so here are the three ways I've come up with:

1. Ignore - Allows users all access to your account/pms/etc, but does not allow trading.
2. Soft Block - Effectively ignore, but disables users from trades/pets/items. Allows full forum access.
3. Trade Notes - A text box to leave notes in for trades that is on the user level, so these notes appear each time that particular user trades with you.
4. Other - Suggest something or modify an option above!

I know this is a brief write up, so I would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations to hone in on what the userbase would like to see and/or use the most!

A lot of the users on my block list are users who do not want me to send trades to them-- for example, if someone with a lot of my hoard pets cancels a trade saying they don't approve of hoarding, I'll block them so that I don't forget this and send them a trade for my hoard pets again in 5 days when I've forgotten them. This is something I know has happened, but it's not about a specific player because I sincerely have no idea who it was or how many times it's happened. Which is kind of the problem, because if I don't know who dislikes hoarding and doesn't have it in their trade thread/rules, I'll have to either check trade history for every user I want to trade, or be at risk of sending people trades they've already told me they don't want. When I'm sending out a lot of trades in a short interval, it adds a lot of unnecessary work to check trade history for everyone I'm trading, 95% of whom I've never had a problem trading before.

It's not just hoarding. Maybe they don't like bulk purchases or c$ trading or I've sent them a trade for a pet with almost the same stuff on my side 5 times and I've finally checked trade history to realise this. I just literally cannot remember this, so I use the block function so that I see "you have blocked this user" when I click onto their trade thread/profile and know that even if I have zero clue who this user is, I don't want to trade with them. And that it's probably not because of anything they've done so much as our trading styles are incompatible and I don't want to be that guy who keeps sending the same trade you told them not to every 2 weeks.

Thing is I'd be fine with most people on my block list sending me trades or being able to interact with me. They haven't done anything wrong. I don't dislike them. I don't know who they are. Not being able to remember who they are is kind of the entire problem that led to me using the block feature like this. The suggestion of trade notes would be really helpful for that-- I could just leave a lil "they don't want me to trade for hoard pets" or "stop trying to trade for that one cat they have" note and know not to do those things, the same way seeing "this user is blocked" gets me to not trade them now. Even if it was a generic "you've indicated you don't want to trade with this guy" warning I couldn't customise/write stuff in, it'd be the same function.

I do worry with the "ignore" option you've suggested, wouldn't that leave people open to players learning they're ignored by not being able to trade, and then sending harassing PMs about it?

I like trade notes! That is a great idea. I literally blocked someone today for the same reason the above user described, though I don’t hoard—the person’s account was a gold mine in terms of my most searched-for wishlist pets, but when I checked our trade history, it was all me sending trades and them cancelling. It would be nice to be able to leave a warning for myself.

From the other end, I imagine an ignore / trade block function would be helpful, though I haven’t struggled with people sending me repetitive trades since I rejoined. Probably comes of not advertising my trades lol

I feel this on a spiritual level Ecaeris. So many people have specific trading styles and they are always changing their aesthetic/signature/username/etc that it's impossible to keep up with. I generally avoid blocking people at all (and even recently cleared my block list entirely) but I especially avoid it for trading. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone has bad days, so just notating that I had a poor experience with someone is enough for me. I don't need to block them entirely.

I remember reading before that they specifically won't add different types of blocking but I have no idea where I read it. trade notes sounds awesome

I feel like trade-blocking would really help with users with incompatible trading standards from going through unnecessary stress

I would really like trade notes as a feature. I wouldn't mind a trade block as well, although I don't think I would use it.

I would like ignore. Sometimes I get burnt out on trading and would like to turn it off. I get dozens of trades a day. The majority of them are just plain bad trades. Although there are kind souls that send me gift trades. I am not sure why? But despite how lovely and sweet those generous users are, I would still like a break. Not forever, as I intend on playing the free trade gifting game Lights on Lights off in October, but toggling off my trades for a time.

I still welcome pms! So ignore would be perfect for my situation ^^

support! i'd love a feature to block only trades from specific people. i have quite a few people blocked cause most of their pets are in open groups named "NFT" instead of locked groups, but i feel kinda bad for fully blocking these people cause apart from making me lose time with a trade they didn't do anything to me
