I'd like to add that I'm an illustrator and character designer and would happily make a new shopkeeper for free for CS and give full rights to the piece/character if CS is open to that. my wonder is that the old shopkeeper may have belonged to an old artist that revoked their rights or ended on bad terms with the community. If that's the case then I'd be happy to work with staff/artists because I love this site and want to add things to it that the community would be happy with.

I think the shopkeeper was removed because the art doesn’t fit with the rest of the “modern” site anymore. I doubt Lawliet has revoked the rights to use their art, because according to the staff page they helped make the deer, lion, and fox lines.
