some notes on things i was thinking about this character (feel free to use or not use any of these as you see fit!):
- she's a sort of water demon/spirit that inhabits the rivers of a rural area.
- tales of her existence date back to approximately 1910. she is often said to be what remains of a local girl who drowned on a festival day. many dismiss these stories as pure fiction, a way for the local villagers to conceptualize the intersection of land and water. when bioluminescent bacteria bloom in the waters, elder villagers say it is her doing. they claim a single strand of her hair would bring eternal fortune to the one who possesses it. skeptical children roll their eyes as their grandparents warn them away from the wet places of the land. she is the center of faithfully kept shrines and doubtful thoughts. she is the tension between the clear air and the choking water, between the quiet places of tradition and the ache to move onwards.
- the protrusions on her head are structurally similar to axolotl gills. her eyes allow her to see quite well in low light. she prefers to walk on the river bottom, but is an adept swimmer. she does not have a mouth, and does not need to eat.
- she doesn't really know how to interact with humans, as her years in the water have robbed her of many of her social skills and much of her sanity. she would become panicky if she were removed from the water, and would likely suffer ill health.
thank you for offering this opportunity! if you decide to pay for this, i would prefer c$ (:
