i also want to mention the items you can get from the firewatch tower. here's the flavour text from the page:

i'd assume the beads count as shiny objects. the part about the bird also could suggest crows.

A few of the feathers you get are from corvids

I've been seeing a decent amount of people refer to Seraphine as she/her, when the official texts are consistently using they/them. so here's a little list of npc pronouns (afaik)

Avian: she/her
Moose: he/him
Conall: they/them
Andrea: she/her
Beryl: unsure
Penny: unsure
Lunu: they/them
Cirrus: she/her
Seraphine: they/them
Mason: he/him

It’s barely lunch time, but Mason has exhausted all your social batteries for the day with his hare-brained theories. You and your cabinmates head out to find a nice spot to sit and eat the lunch you packed. For the rest of the afternoon you have a few tree climbing competitions, as well as the less athletic cabin members taking some time to practice the hiking songs they learned from Penny. One of your cabin mates even comes up with a verse of their own, and you sing it as you head back into camp. You’re not sure if you got the best information, but you’ll see what the counselors think.

I've seen a lot of talk of cryptids and possibly each cabin team hunting down/locating a cryptid, so here's a list of cryptids I think we should look into, as they may be hiding around the woods and in the lake!

(A lot of these are taken from the designs of the March 2021 cryptid horses btw!!)

Mothman! A plausible choice for a possible cryptid, seeing as flying creatures and red eyes have been spotted around camp!

Loch Ness (or, ahem, Loch Tess) another good choice seeing as there have been sightings in the local lake.

Bigfoot/Sasquatch! As mysterious large footprints have been seen around camp, and bear safe bins that are tied way up high have seen to be tampered with, I wouldn't be suprised if Bigfoot is amongst us in these woods!

Jackalope! While this one's not featured on the 2021 horses, we have seen odd antlers around camp!

Fresno nightcrawlers! Red eyes seen around the woods could indicate these guys crawlin' around camp!

Aliens...? I know it's a far stretch, however, bear with me here. It was featured on the 2021 horses, and could explain the odd trinkets, spoons, crystals, etc. littering camp?

Chupacabre! Also there isn't really any evidence to back this one, it's one of my favorite cryptids, and I thought it was worth mentioning!

Ok quick speed round here:

Goatman - weird antlers?

Jersey Devil...? Idk a lot about this one

Yeti? Again, not sure if this one's plausible, just thought he deserved to be mentioned.

Andddd that's all I can think of really, but I hope my knowledge of cryptids is useful!!

The possibility of something actually dangerous in the lake is the wakeup call you need to get out of there, but you feel like you have a pretty good clue. As you head back to Camp Smoothie your friends are joking around with each other, telling more and more outlandish stories of “what really happened out on Loch Tess.” Thankfully, no matter what they say, you’ve all made it back safe to dry out sitting around the firepit. You’re sure one of them will tell a great campfire story tonight!

Quick aside to just say that reading through Mason's whole conversation is just - god, I love him LOL

Crotchety old conspiracy man except all he wants is for people to be nice to the forest and stand in solidarity with bigfoot

trail sign painted on a tree. It looks like it’s made of three rectangles, but you’re not sure how to make heads or tails of it(quoted from a clue, maybe directions to 3 cryptids in particular?)

Of the clues what stood out was the giant fish in the statements and scales found in the lake, but possibly campers feeling like something grabbed them
the strange antlers and the tuft of orange fur under a sign on a tree and the abundance of raspberry bushes
Maybe an air one since the stars seemed to be staring like eyes? but aside from a casual mention of a forest painting there didn't seem to be much supporting this one

Really hope they get around to the cave soon, with the fire built there. While the sign switching seems a little nefarious, because of some stuff missing I feel like it seems to be them wandering around making friends? Fire for s'mores and messed up bags for friendship bracelets, showing the forest inhabitants what happens at camp. I believe at one point there was a statement about them(forest dwellers) being curious about the celebrations or some such going on at camp?

It’s getting late and you’ll need to head back to Camp Smoothie soon, but you really want to see those gadgets! You return to your new friend and they show you that they have a heat sensor as well as a motion detector that they set up outside their camp at night. When you ask about the disappearance the night before, they’re able to show you the data. Late at night someone walked by their tent, and then later on two came back, but the information on the heat sensor looks strange; the second individual was definitely walking strangely. Either way, at least it wasn’t bears, right?

Since I've only seen one of them being mentioned in passing I do want to just put forwards the two scary stories that Conall told us earlier on.

Day 2 wrote:Deep in the woods, there is a cave where it was rumored that a cavern full of glittering gems beyond your wildest imaginings lies hidden, waiting for an intrepid explorer to discover it. For many years, scientists studied the cave--from its giant waterfall to its glowing mushrooms--without discovering its secrets. Then, one day, there was a collapse! All of the rocks in one part of the cave crashed to the ground, and those in the cave traveled through to find the rumored crystals a mysterious land where a civilization had lived in a cold pocket for thousands of years. It is rumored that those explorers even found a way to travel through time and found proof of ancient animals. They weren't supposed to bring anything back, but I think they might have. Late at night, you can sometimes hear strange noises in the woods, and I've heard tales of strange beasts that don't look like any animal we know...

Nothing 100% concrete with this one imo but this paired with several of the clues linking to cryptids it'd at least suggest that there's local legends about whatever it is that's out there. Even if it's totally logical and this is just legend.

Day 3 wrote:People think birds are cute. There are a lot of people who enjoy birdwatching, and you can find many birds out in the forest. They have unique feathers, calls, some are so tiny you might miss them, and some are even big enough to pick up small animals and carry them away! There are many animals that have to hide from owls at night. But sometimes, people go out into the woods and they see birds that can't be possible. They come back and tell me about birds the size of cabins, or with glowing red eyes. I tell them it's not real, but they're convinced. They say it chased their car down when they left the forest! I for one think that folks have really active imaginations, but I suppose I have heard some odd screeches in the night. It's best not to ask questions or go looking though, don't you think?

This is quintessential moth man to go with a lot of the speculation around those red eyes at the fire watch tower. He's often described as looking like an abnormally large bird (usually man-sized though so cabin sized is much bigger), and having glowing eyes. I've definitely read stories of people who said he chased them from above when they tried to drive away as well but that's not exactly an unusual story for most monster or cryptid tales.
