Since I've only seen one of them being mentioned in passing I do want to just put forwards the two scary stories that Conall told us earlier on.
Day 2 wrote:Deep in the woods, there is a cave where it was rumored that a cavern full of glittering gems beyond your wildest imaginings lies hidden, waiting for an intrepid explorer to discover it. For many years, scientists studied the cave--from its giant waterfall to its glowing mushrooms--without discovering its secrets. Then, one day, there was a collapse! All of the rocks in one part of the cave crashed to the ground, and those in the cave traveled through to find the rumored crystals a mysterious land where a civilization had lived in a cold pocket for thousands of years. It is rumored that those explorers even found a way to travel through time and found proof of ancient animals. They weren't supposed to bring anything back, but I think they might have. Late at night, you can sometimes hear strange noises in the woods, and I've heard tales of strange beasts that don't look like any animal we know...
Nothing 100% concrete with this one imo but this paired with several of the clues linking to cryptids it'd at least suggest that there's local legends about whatever it is that's out there. Even if it's totally logical and this is just legend.
Day 3 wrote:People think birds are cute. There are a lot of people who enjoy birdwatching, and you can find many birds out in the forest. They have unique feathers, calls, some are so tiny you might miss them, and some are even big enough to pick up small animals and carry them away! There are many animals that have to hide from owls at night. But sometimes, people go out into the woods and they see birds that can't be possible. They come back and tell me about birds the size of cabins, or with glowing red eyes. I tell them it's not real, but they're convinced. They say it chased their car down when they left the forest! I for one think that folks have really active imaginations, but I suppose I have heard some odd screeches in the night. It's best not to ask questions or go looking though, don't you think?
This is quintessential moth man to go with a lot of the speculation around those red eyes at the fire watch tower. He's often described as looking like an abnormally large bird (usually man-sized though so cabin sized is much bigger), and having glowing eyes. I've definitely read stories of people who said he chased them from above when they tried to drive away as well but that's not exactly an unusual story for most monster or cryptid tales.
