Welcome to the CAC! Here you'll find Caxicals (cax-IH-cahls), an odd breed of canine which is thought to be the origin of all others, the oldest remains found dating back to the early Jurassic period, almost 200 million years ago.

They went extinct around the middle of the Glacial (or Ice) Age, for reasons unknown. We theorize that they were hunted to extinction by early man and larger predators of the day, but this theory has not yet been proven.
Over time, and leading up to the Ice Age, the Caxicals adapted new fur lengths to cope with the rapidly changing temperatures. Short Fur sprang up from time to time when the planet was at it's hottest. The medium, or average fur length was often sported during periods of time when temperatures were uncertain, changing with the seasons: in the warm times, they shed fur, and in the cold it grew in thick and warm, much like a cat's fur does. When the Ice Age came along, the intense cold kicked evolution into gear again, and the Caxicals adapted to their environment for the last time, gaining a long, fluffy coat, complete with a protective overcoat and an insulating undercoat. This process proves just how adaptable these creatures are.
Because of this and the fact that these animals are not very large, it was believed that it would be safe to bring them back to life, using DNA from various frozen remains found in the arctic areas of the Earth. The long fur trait, however, quickly died out, largely due to the more even temperatures of the world these days. It appears every so often, as does short fur, but both are recessive traits, and so far have only occurred - extremely rarely - in pairings where at least one parent is long/short-furred, and somewhat more commonly where both are.

If you'd like to adopt one of these creatures, you're in luck! I and our co-owner Scamps specialize in breeding this unique animal, and will often have a few in the adoption center for you to take home. Just be sure to read ALL of our rules! If you don't and you break one, you'll land yourself on the blacklist, meaning all of your Caxicals will be returned to the adoption center and you will be permanently banned from adopting any new ones by any means. But so long as you abide by all the rules, you'll be fine! So look around, have some fun, and maybe adopt a new friend or two~!

Mutations
Occasionally, a Caxical will be born sporting one or more special feature which sets it apart from your everyday offspring. These features are called mutations. As we breed more and more Caxicals, we gradually discover new mutations. No one's quite certain how many there are, but it seems that there are indeed more out there to be found. As we uncover the secrets of this species' genes, we will add the mutations found here, to this list, along with things noticed about the mutation such as it's rarity, the genders which it can occur on, etc. One thing we've found which applies to all mutations is that it's extremely rare to see more than one mutation on a single Caxical.

Long Fur

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Appears in both genders. Has only very rarely been seen in unnatural colors. There is scientific evidence that this was the last fur length adaptation developed by Caxicals to assist them in the rapid temperature changes of early Earth, this time for the Glacial - or Ice - Age.

Short Fur

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Is seen in both genders, but only rarely in unnatural colors. This fur mutation originally existed to aid Caxicals during periods of extreme heat.

Folded Ears (Both, Left and Right)

Rarity: Common, Very Rare, Very Rare
Notes: All three appear in both genders, but only on individuals with normal length fur. Are more common on naturally colored Caxicals. It is unknown why singular folded ears are so much less common than both being folded.

Bobtail

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Appears in both genders, but only on Caxials with fur of normal or short length. (Those with short fur are rarer.)

Long Furred Bobtail

Rarity: Very Rare
Notes: Can appear in either gender, but only alongside the Long Fur mutation, making it very rare.

Curled Tail

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Appears in both genders, but only on Caxials with fur of normal or short length. (Short fur is more rare.)

Long Furred Curled Tail

Rarity: Very Rare
Notes: Appears in both genders, but only alongside the Long Fur mutation, making it quite rare.

Two Tails

Rarity: Uncommon
Notes: Can appear in either gender, but only on Caxicals with normal length fur. Is more common in males.

Three Tails

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Can appear in either gender, but only on Caxicals with normal length fur. Is more common in males.

Long Tail

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Occurs in both genders on Caxicals with short or normal length fur.

Tusks

Rarity: Rare
Notes: Only appears in males with normal fur length.

Forked Tongue

Rarity: Uncommon
Notes: More common in males, but can appear in either gender. Is most commonly a fleshy color such as pink, but has been seen in other varieties. Only appears in Caxicals with fur of a normal length.

Bat Wings

Rarity: Common
Notes: Can appear on either gender, but only on Caxicals with normal fur length.

Chibi Wings

Rarity: Common
Notes: Only appears in females with normal length fur.

Feathered Wings

Rarity: Very Rare
Notes: Appears in both genders but only on Caxicals with normal or short fur length, normal being more common.

Overall Rules
1. Be polite to myself, Scamps, and your fellow adopters. No spamming or rudeness of any kind will be tolerated in this thread, and you have been justly warned of such.
2. Please use at least reasonably correct grammar. We won't discriminate between the forms of someone who's amazing at such things and someone who's only decent, but we'd really appreciate if you at least try. If your form is completely screwy and unreadable however, do know that it will be ignored.
3. You may only ask for one Caxical at once. This includes any Caxicals from any area of the thread. Breedings, Adoption Center, contests, all of it. (Except for customs (obtainable at the Lab or in contests) which are exempt from this rule.) Once you receive your Caxical, you may apply for another. There is no overall limit ATM, but I reserve the right to keep any adopter from gaining another Caxical if I feel that they've adopted too many in too short a time.
4. Do not beg, whine, complain, plead or otherwise annoy myself or Scamps for any reason. If we want help with designs, we'll ask for them. If we need more artists, we'll ask for them. Etc.
5. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT steal other's Caxicals. These most certainly aren't freebies for you to just randomly take, so don't treat them as if they are. If you break this rule, you will immediately be put on the blacklist. No warnings, no second chances.
6. No touching my art. I drew these myself, pixel by pixel (with the exception of some of the mutations, which were made by Scamps (thank you! <3)), and don't appreciate you coming in and stealing my work. I will report you for art theft if I or anyone else ever sees this art used by anyone besides myself and Scamps.
7. Please post all forms here in the forum. Do not PM them to me. If you do, they shall be ignored. Also, don't ask me to PM you for ANY reason. If you've something to say, either say it here or PM me yourself.
8. Do not remove the link to this post in your adoption codes.
9. Do not bring your caxicals to any other website/forum/etc. without express permission from myself. The only exception to this is character sites - you know, those little websites people make for all their charries? Yeah, those are fine homes for these guys, so go right ahead.
10. And last but not least, the most important rule of all! What's the most important rule, you say? Have fun, of course! Well, we won't blacklist you for not having fun, but it'd be cool if you do! XD

Blacklist

Those on the blacklist have all their Caxicals confiscated and are permanently banned from adopting unless removed. Previously owned Caxicals will not be returned.

Welcome to the Adoption Center! Here you'll find the Caxicals which we have bred from our private population so that you can adopt and take them home with you. :3 Posting order counts towards who gets each Caxical, so be sure to post your form quick if you see one you like! If you want to up your chances of getting the Caxical you're applying for, be sure to fill out the bio part of the form to the best of your ability using plenty of creativity. ;3 If two people apply for the same Caxical, and one has no bio and the other has a beautiful, creative one, who do you think's gonna get the pet?

To adopt one of these Caxicals, just fill out the form at the bottom of the post! (If you'd like to post your form as a "WIP", that's fine. However, keep in mind that I won't announce when I'm judging forms, and "WIP" forms with absolutely no bio/personality WILL NOT be counted unless nobody else applied for the same Caxical.) Breeding Kennels
As well as breeding animals from our own population, we also now have a service where you yourself can request a breeding between two Caxicals!However, there are some requirements. At least one of the Caxicals must be owned by you, and you may only request one breeding per week where both Caxicals are owned by you. Breedings with other owner's Caxicals are unlimited, but you must ask for and show evidence of permission from the other owner in your form for it to be counted (pretty much everybody will want that anyway, so I'm not giving anybody an option.)

The way this works is that after you've submitted the form, the female Caxical used in the breeding will be added to a list below, displaying the (approximate) date when her pups will be born - usually in a few days - and the name of the sire. When the due date arrives, I'll add two pups below their mother and send you a notification.

These tiny little critters will give you a vague - or not so vague - idea of what each will look like as an adult. You may pick one, and only one of the two pups, and the one leftover will go to the adoption center. Once you've chosen your pup, I'll give you the adult's code (Yay, instant growth!), and you'll have your new Caxical!
Be careful when choosing which pup to take, as you won't be able to tell what mutations it has until it grows up!

The Lab
This is where you can order a special, custom-made Caxical which I will create by altering the DNA of one of these animals to fit your specific desires. Merely specify what you wish for in the form below, and I'll try my best to create your perfect Caxical.Most of the time, these are free, but we also have a paid option, which has it's benefits, but obviously costs more. Do keep in mind that if you want a custom for free, your choices of mutations will be limited slightly (uncommon and lower), you may only use one mutation, and you cannot request for me to make you a custom mutation - you must use those already in existence.
Also, when you get your own custom mutation we cannot guarantee that it will never be used on another Caxical. However, it will be given a Very Rare or possibly higher rarity, and so will be almost entirely unique to your custom. (If you have a serious issue with this, contact me and we can talk. But something like feathered wings, a unicorn horn, etc. shouldn't be completely barred from others just because you happened to order them first.)

Prices
(Free customs are, of course, free.) For a single custom with unlimited mutations and the ability to create a brand-new mutation, my price is... not actually set. Own an adopt/growables place that does customs? Feel like doing some fanart of my fursona Volteface or another of my characters? If you've got something you're willing to give or create, I'll probably accept it as payment!I also love the traditional payment of CS wishlist pets, but whatever works for you is fine. This is a kind of open-ended deal. As long as I think it's fair - and I don't really hold these in too high value, honestly, so that shouldn't be too hard for you to manage - I'll get right to work on your request and all you've got to do is sit back and wait!

2. I'll try my best to get you what you want, but if I really can't, no complaining, please. I'll always compensate for the loss somehow so there's no need to worry.

Inspirations
What it Is: This is a forever ongoing sort of contest where the point is to try and guess the song, band, person, object, animal, etc. which inspired a specific, unique Caxical. Each Caxical will remain open until someone guesses the correct answer, or one that is so close that if it were any closer the two would be siamese twins. When this happens, the Caxical will be awarded to the winner, and a new one will be added, thus beginning a new round.
If you want a general hint, I usually listen to music while I'm on the computer; from bands such as Three Days Grace, Oomph!, Linkin Park, and Dead by Sunrise, to name my favorites.
Prize: The Caxical which you had to guess the inspiration for!

I'd like to announce that from this point on, all updates to the AC will be made on Fridays unless I somehow find the time to update during the week. If, for whatever reason, I miss an update, it will instead be made on Saturday unless otherwise noted.

Just to make things clear, this applies to the AC only. Other parts of the CAC such as customs, breeding, etc. have no set update schedule. They just update whenever I finish something/an order form is posted/someone guesses a correct answer to a contest/etc. The archive updates whenever I have time to sit down for a while and get everything sorted out. Usually this'll be on Fridays, along with the AC updates, but not necessarily.

Now, it is time for me to sleep. Because school is planning on eating my life in the morning, and I need energy to fight it off. D:
