Goennec Pen #:
W5
Name:
Alma
Rank:
Peasant
Why do you want this goennec?:
You already know the answer to this one. First reason, and I believe it is the most important... ghost. 8I Ghosts are awesome, and this girl makes an adorable one that cannot be ignored. Second, she keeps pawing at my mind, giving me ideas of how she could be used. Third, her simplicity. I really like simple designs, you know that. I believe that a character does not have to be horribly complex to come to live, and ironically she very much comes to live in my mind ever time I see her. Last but not least, ghost. 8}
Also, she matches my font color. 8D
-Totally not giddy about this discovery-
How would you use this character?:
Amazingly enough, I can see her fitting perfectly in the rp, being the lonesome ghost rarely anyone sees, making inappropriate comments because she knows she can get away with them... you know, doing the usual ghost thing. I would love to headmate her, especially seeing as how in a strange way, she is almost a headmate even as a character, coming across almost as an imaginary friend for Sihir due to the inability of most to see her as concretely as she can, catching only glimpses of a strange, silvery blue doe watching them in the distance, vanishing the second you blink.

Sihir - Being unable to communicate to pretty much anyone since her death, the young kid's ability to see, touch, and talk to her came like a god sent to her, making her gain a liking to her almost instantly. She cherishes the kid's company and tends to follow her around whenever she notices she is alone, hoping for a bit of company.
Northern Lights - Or Sky, as others call him. Alma is unsure as to whether this ram can truly see her or not, but there are times she swears she can see his eyes meeting hers and a small smile crossing his face. Not only that, but on occasions she can almost feel as though he is answering something she has said... although he doesn't always make this entirely clear. On top of his hopefully being able to see and communicate with her, Alma simply loves listening to his stories. They are so vivid and well narrated, she can almost feel the touch of the breeze against her fur and the heat of the sun on her skin while he speaks.
William - Easily the most amusing of the few goennecs whom she has had an actual conversation with since her death, Alma can't help but love William, especially seeing as how his own strangeness makes her feel like much less of an outcast. Why he is able to see her as clearly as Sihir is unknown to them. William claims it is his extra refined bat senses that allow him to see her, but Alma and Sihir are more certain it has to do with the few bolts loose in his head. There have been moments in which Alma and William have been able to touch, much like Sihir is able to, but the reason behind this intermittent ability is also unknown.
Ribbon - If there is one thing that Alma loves, it is her ribbon. Back when she was alive, she remembered cursing it and constantly attempting to pull it off, determined to look and feel wild and free. In death, however, the ribbon that remained clinging to her neck is the only source of discomfort for her, the only source of physical feeling, and the one thing that reminds her - no matter how slightly - of what it felt like to be alive.
Dislikes
The Spirit Realm - Unlike most goennecs when they die, Alma has never crossed over to the spirit realm in fear of what lies beyond the material plane. She hates herself for being too much of a coward to move on and make peace with her death, but she finds herself unable to even enter due to her astral body rejecting the transition due to her own qualm at not knowing what will happen when she crosses over. This inability to cross over has made her dislike the realm and the subject altogether, and often changes the subject or leaves when Sihir brings it up, as the strange kid is perfectly capable of moving to and fro this mysterious place.
The Living - It's not that she dislikes those who are still alive exactly, it's more along the lines of envy. She is jealous of their ability to feel, touch, eat and share warmth among themselves. Most of all, she envies the mothering does, knowing that she will never be given the opportunity of raising a kid of her own.
Rain - As a ghost, Alma is not affected by the elements. To her, this is never more obvious than when it rains as she sees the others quickly become drenched in water while her translucent pelt remains immaculate and pristine, the droplets that weigh down the others merely passing through her non corporeal body. During this time, she is at her most vulnerable, depression quickly taking over at her lack of existence and her inability to do something about it.
Personality
Coward - There is no way to deny the fact that Alma is a coward. Even if one were to overlook the fact that she is too scared to cross over to the Spirit Realm despite Sihir constantly telling her it will be alright, she is afraid of countless things despite these not being able to hurt her. Whenever a bolt of lighting streaks the sky, she is quick to jump and scream in fear before attempting to hide inside a rock. If a bug crosses her path she quickly starts squealing and taking steps back. This sort of behavior tends to be very amusing to those who can see her, although it does get annoying from time to time. Her cowardice is the reason why she is not certain if Northern Lights can truly see her or not, as she has not had the courage to ask him in fear that he will not respond, crushing her dreams of the handsome, gentle ram being able to communicate with her.
Inappropriate - Ever since Alma realized other goennecs could not hear her, Alma became very prone to making fun of others, or making comments she would not have normally had the guts to say if she had been visible, especially when said comments are quite perverse. After so many years of this sort of behavior, she has a hard time controlling herself and being a bit nicer in front of those who can see her, a quirk that sometimes gets her in trouble with them.
Useless - Alma is not exactly useless, but she certainly sees and describes herself as such. Unable to communicate with others, she is normally unable to help in most - if not all - situations. This does not deter her in her wish to help, however, and she can constantly be seen trying to somehow make an effort to tell the herd of some danger in her own inaudible ways.
Background/Story
How... how did this happen? Where am I? What is going on here?
The day had begun no different for the pretty white ewe known as Alma by her humans. Crystalline blue ribbon tied around her delicate neck, complimenting her equally blue eyes perfectly. Unfortunately for Alma's owners, the beauty that this ribbon added to their much pampered and adored pet was lost to her as she fastidiously decided once more that said ribbon had been around her neck for far too long, and was once more using a well practiced hind paw in an attempt to rid her neck of its discomfort. A goennec with a ribbon? She didn't care how much the neighborhood goennecs said it was classy and added to her status in their home, it was still irritating and felt nothing less than unnatural.
While Alma had been born a pet and raised among humans her entire life, she dreamed of being wild and free. It had nothing to do with her humans, no, not at all. In fact, their kindness and love was all that stood in the way of her dream. How could she leave them behind? They may look different, but they were still a herd to her none the less... now if only they would understand that their need to put on fancy pelts on themselves did not in any way mean that she wanted or needed them everything would be bliss.
M-my ribbon? My ribbon... where is it?
