Looking down on the small mouse that was nibbling on a nut, Tigerlilly waited for her turn to move. Suddenly, she flashed out a claw and killed the mouse with a swift blow. This small mouse would barley ease her stomach's growls. She hadn't eaten in days. This mouse, as tiny as it was, gave her hope of the prey to come. For many years, flat-faces had been catching and taking away all the food the smilis had. Lilly hoped that she would find more food in other places, but so far she had had no success. She padded silently through the forest, looking for a place to spend the night. Lilly found a small hallow and made a nest of leafs in it. When she rested her eyes, she had no trouble finding instant sleep.
In the morning when she woke, Lilly found that snow had fallen, leaving the forest silent and bright white. It was beautiful! She took some time to prance around in the snow. It had been long since she had been able to enjoy herself! But Lilly new she had to move on, find more prey. So she left her comfortable den to set off into the wilderness. She had been padding through the silent forest for a long while when she heard hoofs thudding against the ground. Sure enough, she walked into an open field where a grullo horse pranced about, enjoying the snow. Lilly ran to the middle of the field and called, "Hey! Hey there!" the horse stopped and trotted to her. "What is it that you want?" it asked. "I was wondering if you knew if there was any prey a smili would eat around here." she asked. "No, there isn't much. Anyways, my name is Storm! Who are you?" Storm replied. "I'm Tigerlilly, but you can just call me Lilly. So, do you know of a nice place to sleep?" Lilly asked. "Yes, i do! Follow me!" and with that, Storm raced across the snow- covered field.
When Storm finally stopped, Lilly realized what a nice cave she had brought her to. "Is this where you stay?" asked Lilly. "Yes, it is! You can stay for a while if you want." the two went into the den and started to talk. "So, what is it you are trying to do?" Storm asked her. "I'm trying to find a place where it isn't so cold and i can actually find prey. What about you?" she replied. "I've been looking for a nice warm meadow where the grass is lush and I can feel the wind in my mane." Storm said. "Hey, maybe we can travel together!" the agreed and fell asleep, both exosted.
In the morning, the woke and started on their journey. Lilly set a quick pace as they trotted through the trees in search of what they wanted. They came across a frozen river, and Lilly said. "I'll try it first, to see if it really is frozen." She padded out onto the ice and suddenly, a CRACK! She raced to the other side, just barley making it before the ice collapsed. "How are you going to-" she was cut off as Storm jumped into the river and swam across. "Hey, I have a thick coat for a reason!" Storm said.
As the two traveled, the started seeing a change in things. Even though it was getting into the deepest part of winter, things started to warm up and soon they found more prey. One day, Lilly was chasing a rabbit when she stumbled into a large field. The grass was lush, a genital breeze blew, prey scurried about, and the air was perfect. "Hey Storm! You better come look at this!" Lilly called. Storm raced to her and then stopped dead. "Just what I've.... always wanted."
Storm raced into the field, running through the grass and feeling the wind in her mane. Lilly padded out and immediately spotted a hawk eating a mouse on the ground. She slowly crept towards it and suddenly pounced. Dragging the hawk on top of a rock, she sat and ate her prey. She finally got what she had wanted. A place to live, prey to eat, and the warm air blowing through her fur.
