Not sure whether this belongs here, but please comment and critisize

The quote is from the first book in the Wolves Of Mercy Falls trilogy and I'm sure Shiver fans will know who the wolf is in this pic XD
The only ref used was the cover of the book for the leaf :3

I know this is a completely random question, but have you ever tried doing anime-like eyes on a dog/wolf? I'm looking to do a new comic, and need some advice.
