Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness.With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Prompt: As basic as it is, and just in a general sense, I’d choose to have gills + lungs! Being able to come and go from water and land would make it so easy to help this trotter escape from the pirates, even if they’d stranded the beasty on land or in the depths! Maybe she ended up capsizing the ship? Maybe a storm caught the pirates off guard and the ship sank, leaving her inside still? Either way, having this adaptability would ensure the freedom to roam the waves or the beach with Bula!

Prompt: I think having echolocation like a bat or dolphin would be quite handy, in terms of animal adaptations that would be helpful for rescuing this trotter. I imagine that the pirates are keeping the trotters locked up in the bilge of their ship (aka. the ship's basement), and I image it'd be a dark, dank, and musty place (as they typically are). The darkness would be the trickiest part to overcome; I'd have to either risk turning on the lights, which would make my presence *super* obvious, or I would have to find the trotter in the dark, which would be tricky as I imagine that pirates aren't particularly neat folks and would have lots of stuff/obstacles strewn about down there. Echolocation would be a fantastic solution, as it'd help me find my way to the trotter in the dark without tripping or making too much noise (as I could avoid knocking into things), then also guide the trotter out in the same fashion. We'd practically be using the darkness as a cloak of invisibility! I think this kind of escape at nighttime especially could work out well, but shhh, please don't tell the pirates!

Camouflage doesn’t always have to be used to hide. Mimic octopus and cuttlefish use their ability to also distract or deter enemies by looking flashy or looking like a dangerous animal like a banded sea-krait or lion fish.

Prompt: The ability of the Pufferfish to extremely inflate would be a fun way to help me rescue a Trotter from the privates. I could inflate to a degree which would make me unsinkable due to the amount of air in me. Then I could hoover over the water towards the ship, snack the Trotter off the ship as I can just inflate myself up to a fitting size to reach on the ship, then hoover away again.
