You wander onto a vacant path
where only one tree is rooted
It smiles as it gently bends and bows with the breeze to greet you
And maybe you’ll see it, and smile back
The tree has a tenderness to its rough bark
a sensitivity to its unraveling branches
where love fuels strength to help it carry on
Maybe presence brings aspiration to give of ourselves;
brightly, gloriously, kindly
Open, like leaves unfurling to stretch towards the sky
abundant branches heavy with a yearning to share its fruit
Where you can’t be devoured or stolen from
because you hold living fragments from the core of the earth, its divinity held and caressed as a womb
Where sunlight pours its golden ichor,
where water is drawn to the fulfilling promise of nourishing one’s soil,
every element working to support the trust in love
