Another new genus of tree for Sagan 4. With the forest species, they're generally more obviously present in colder montane forests, but the lowland shadow forests are frequently dominated by obsidian trees, which outshade them. Not to be fully deterred, however, the pinokes are able to sprawl their branches under any break in the canopy, and even prevent more obsidian trees from regrowing around them by shedding their needles, which suppress the growth of spore plants like the obsidioaks. Plant competition can be really interesting, when you think about it.
